Why are you awake?

It’s almost 5am so if you’re awake like me why?
I went to bed early last night and was asleep by 10pm, woke up at 4.30 so got up and currently having a coffee.
I’m working today so today is going to be a long day.
Why are you awake?

Also menopause here so I was awake at 4.50, stressing about a family matter I can’t control. Then I’ve got work and my gym class, so I’m looking forward to bed tonight already.

BiddyPopthe2nd · 04/03/2026 06:16

Last night, I was awake at 4 due to menopause, worries about work/war/sick DD… and didn’t get to bed until late due to evening lecture and late call to DH.

This morning, I was awake at 5 to get an early flight home for the day to go visit DD in hospital, won’t even see DH (he’s stuck in a work thing) and get back tonight.

Tomorrow will probably be back to menopause, worries, and the need to be up on time for early meetings. And the same on Friday for an important training course, also starting early.

I had sooo better sleep on Saturday.

Dh is dreaming...loudly

So far he has shot at it with all the guns and nothing works...so will try to infect it with sadness.

He is very vocal about me staying behind him.

I couldn't sleep in case I missed the next installment

4.15am. Worrying about work (job loss looming) and my physical and mental health

The what ifs and thinking about it from a myriad of different angles is horrible when redundancies are in the offing.

Strawberrryfields · 04/03/2026 06:24

Reading these comments I had didn’t realise menopause had such an impact on sleep. Is it hormones, night sweats, stress? Something else to look forward to (!)

It’s an anxiety that kicks in during the early hours. It makes you over stress about things, plus relive embarrassing moments from your youth for no reason whatsoever.

I don't have any symptoms like anxiety or stress since starting HRT. I just wake up and can't get back to sleep. I try and lean in to it but it gets to me after a while. 3am this morning, maybe dozed for half an hour since then.

Wonderful! I’ve had bouts of anxiety like that but not for an extended time 😬

@Bearsinmotion great the hrt is working for some symptoms. I sort of get the leaning into it thing I think but must be a pain if you have work/ plans the next day.

Iwanttogobacktobed · 04/03/2026 07:26

I was also awake at 4am. Also menapausal.

Bearsinmotion · 04/03/2026 07:40

@Strawberrryfields Yes - I am ok working from home but on Thursday I am working 3 hours away so I am desperately hoping to get more than a few hours sleep then.

🤣🤣🤣
it might be annoying but at least it sounds entertaining- and good to know your DH is protecting you even when unconscious!

I’m awake because I’m worrying about debt. I’ve just logged into my online banking and realised I’ve been paying my car insurance with 2 different companies for 6 months. I’m upset and anxious and angry with myself

Sorry to hear this. I did this once and managed to get a refund from one of the insurers.

AlwaysAFaithful · 05/03/2026 04:46

WORK 😩😩

I love working but my job is such a headfuck.

Now trying to decide if taking early retirement wd b a good idea.

Ladidahdi · 05/03/2026 04:49

I’m at work too, just on my break. Roll on 7:30.

Raspberrymoon49 · 05/03/2026 04:50

4 days post surgery and so uncomfortable

Mumof1andacat · 05/03/2026 05:06

I'm always awake at night. Mostly between 2am and 5am. I have been like this for over 10yrs but it's been worse in the last 3 or 4. Gp says he doesn't know. He said its not perimenopause as I'm too young at 41 and bloods are normal. I lead a very tired life.....

Iwantcustard · 05/03/2026 05:18

Sweating profusely, resulting in itching and general uncomfortable feeling, due either to perimenopause or the lump in my breast that might be cancerous.

@Bearsinmotion tell us more about the man!
@BiddyPopthe2nd that's cute!

EleanorReally · 05/03/2026 05:29

i was awake at 3.30
having a uncertain time at work, seems much worse in the early hours.
family worries also

MirandaWest · 05/03/2026 05:35

Woke at 4:30 and have a lot going round my head. Plus some menopausal stuff for good measure

justintimeforxmas · 05/03/2026 05:36

Tooth infection and it’s just made me sick.

caringcarer · 05/03/2026 05:38

I've got a very sore throat and asthma also bad. I'm propped up in bed with 4 pillows.

HelenHywater · 05/03/2026 05:47

woke at 4.10am today. No idea why. I'm out tonight and in the office all day, so will feel terrible later on.

MinnieMountain · 05/03/2026 05:48

Peri-menopause. I went to bed a bit later than usual, which apparently means I also wake up early.

FlatErica · 05/03/2026 05:53

Ive been up for about 20 mins, i always get up at 5:30. Still feeling like a dead woman.

Ihad2Strokes · 05/03/2026 05:57

I've never been a good sleeper

but the insomnia is even worse since I had the stroke last year. Ironic really as I should be getting more sleep! 🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️

I'm too bloody exhausted to get up & do anything useful.🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️ Due to health issues & medication I can't eat or drink at this hour, envious of those who can!

I was listening the birds singing/chatting (very loudly this morning)!, but now my inconsiderate neighbour is running her car. Extra early on Thursday mornings 🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️

(envious of the PP's newborn baby snuggles!)
