Why are you awake?

It’s almost 5am so if you’re awake like me why?
I went to bed early last night and was asleep by 10pm, woke up at 4.30 so got up and currently having a coffee.
I’m working today so today is going to be a long day.
Why are you awake?

I have a three day old baby. I don’t sleep anymore.

Pollyanna87 · 04/03/2026 05:25

A fox has been screaming in the garden

Toastie7 · 04/03/2026 05:26

The kittens found a spider next to the bed, but they let it escape, so now I'm too scared to go back to sleep in case it comes to get me!

Heatedrival · 04/03/2026 05:27

Menopause
I have to be up at 5.30 so waking up at 3 is helpful.
I have a long day at work to look forward to so waking in the early hours is helpful.
I like to worry about things I have no control over.
I look better with large dark circles.

Hooray.

ErwinsCat · 04/03/2026 05:28

I've not slept well, as usual, thank you menopause! I've listened to my snoring husband most of the night, as usual, and the cat started his nonsense so I have to take him to his already full timer bowl that was open 🙄 Contemplating just getting up and starting work then hopefully having a lunch nap but I know that'll never happen!

I'm sorry some of you are awake worrying about healt, debt or being unable to travel home. And for the sleepless toddler stages, I had one of those, only he took it to the extremes. He was double figures before he slept through 😬😫

Hurumph · 04/03/2026 05:30

Menopause here too.
I’ve got a wash on and a cup of tea, it’s not all bad

JustSayingReally · 04/03/2026 05:30

@Heatedrival I also like to worry about things I can’t control, also hear you on the dark circles I’ll be rocking the same look today 😂

Just stopped at Winchester services for a coffee on the way back to Dorset after landing from holiday at 2.30 this morning

AutumnLover1990 · 04/03/2026 05:35

Sore hip. The joys of rheumatoid arthritis 😩😔

stapletonsguitar · 04/03/2026 05:36

Since menopause my night time weeing gets me up. Went to bed at 10, got up at 1.30 then again at 5. Bladder full to bursting 🙄

Elektra1 · 04/03/2026 05:38

My cat regularly wakes me at 4.30am and I can never get back to sleep. Luckily years of child-rearing has accustomed me to reduced sleep hours.

keepwakingup · 04/03/2026 05:38

Woke up age just after 4am, which is getting more & more common. Then i can never get back to sleep. .

Strawberrryfields · 04/03/2026 05:43

Third trimester. One side is only comfy for so long before needing to heave myself on to the other side. Also, needing all the wees. Older child was also up for a wee in the night too and always wants mummy not daddy to help.

Natsku · 04/03/2026 05:43

I'm always up at half 4 to start work at half 5. Been at work two hours already (two hours ahead of the uk) and currently having breakfast, 3 hours after getting up (no time to eat before I leave at 5 and I ain't getting up any earlier!)

embolass · 04/03/2026 05:45

Menopause and a snoring ( no he doesn’t) husband since 0150

Bearsinmotion · 04/03/2026 05:45

Menopause, plus meeting an incredible new man who I can't stop thinking about 😳

Zoraflora · 04/03/2026 05:48

Perimenopause

Woke up to pee at 4.30 and cant get back to sleep, very regular occurrence.

Worrying about work as Ive been making loads of stupid mistakes due to tiredness and brain fog. At times I can’t remember basic things. Its really embarrassing & a bit frightening as I feel like my brain isnt working properly!

Tiddlywinks63 · 04/03/2026 05:50

Unable to sleep because very short of breath ( bloody heart failure), it’s ramped up recently and is beginning to frighten me. Lots of hospital investigations going on 🤷🏼‍♀️

JustSayingReally · 04/03/2026 05:50

I’ve done DD’s packed lunch and had a shower. My neighbours left for work so I feel happier about putting the washing machine on, realistically she probably can’t hear it but I always feel like she can.
Feeling quite productive this morning but don’t fancy waking up at 4.30 every morning to be productive 😂

4.15am. Worrying about work (job loss looming) and my physical and mental health

June2008 · 04/03/2026 05:53

Menopause

Ofsted in school today

And slightly traumatised having spent 12 hours overnight in A&E with a relative on Monday, it was hideous for lots of reasons

MardyMillylala · 04/03/2026 05:57

Been awake since 5am despite not going to bed till 11.30am. Eyes itching like mad & feeling a bit snuffly so assuming hay-fever kicking in early. No hope of going back to sleep as the cat heard me then was nagging so given in. Fed & let her outside & made a cuppa to watch last episode of Bridgerton with.

BrownSharpie · 04/03/2026 06:09

Deliberately woke up early to make sure my son doesn’t burn/flood the house or destroy anything.

20x40 · 04/03/2026 06:11

DS6 is autistic and has been awake the past two nights around midnight/1 am. Looking forward to dropping off at school, not looking forward to work. Feeling sick, tired and cold. He's happy as Larry with all the energy.
