A few months back according to the media it was Reform's for the taking - now it's a three-way bet between Labour, Greens and Reform

Because it’s worrying that any country should have political candidates running on a platform of sectarianism.

Yet apparently it’s everyone else ‘sowing division’.

You mean like Farage using pictures of him and Trump to push his party's one policy of anti-illegal immigration?

Passingthrough123 · 27/02/2026 11:29

One school, one incident. Seven years ago. 🙄

For clarity, a thing happened once, seven years ago.

Edited

Yeah I did wonder how you would rush to minimise, I guess it’d be ‘7 years ago’ and ‘only once’.

…it isn’t though.

Based on the data that 26% of British Muslims see the most important issue at the next election being the Israeli/ Gaza conflict compared to only 3% of the general population.

This was not a general election, though, was it?

Yes, exactly like that. Both awful.

TopPocketFind · 27/02/2026 11:33

So both Green and Labour are using Modri as reason not to vote for the party they oppose?

Dirty tactics from all the parties when it comes to leaflets.

His name is Modi.

Journalists on the ground in G&D were reporting that Gaza was hardly mentioned by the people they spoke to

Yes, I heard one of the journalists on Sky saying that they didn't hear that much about Gaza, but what they did hear was concern about the rise of Reform and some of Shabana Mahmoud's recent rhetoric.

Passingthrough123 · 27/02/2026 11:40

Okay, so it's been more than once. So what is your desired end game here? You've posted for pages and pages about your concerns regarding "the Muslim vote" and homophobia but haven't said what you think should happen?

What do you think should happen to homophobics?

I think homophobia is abhorrent but I respect that we live in a democracy where people with repugnant views still have the right to vote. See: Reform voters.

And you are still dodging the question of what YOU think should happen to "the Muslim vote".

Reminder: it was 500 Muslims saying that out of a poll of 1,000 Muslims out of a population of 3.9 million Muslims out of the overall UK population of 68.8 million. Stop trying to pretend Muslims have the voter clout to overturn LGBTQ+ protections in the UK.

And yes, I'm going to repost this every time you spout that it's half the Muslim population calling for a ban, because you're being disingenuous.

I don't think you understand polling and sample sizes. Assuming the sample size is representative of the Muslim population at large (which it will be coming from a reputable polling company) then you can be sure with 95% confidence that the 50% of the Muslim population do in fact hold that opinion. Statistically robust sampling means you don't need to ask every member of a population a particular question to get a reliable answer - hope that helps @Passingthrough123

Wow... with that line of reasoning we should stop Catholics and many people of faith coming to live in the UK as they may also be homophobic.. your comment shows a lack of critical thinking I'm afraid.

Not sure who it was, possibly Labour even but Starmer’s name was referenced on the doorstep.

He was probably a bigger factor than Gaza.

Suppress Muslim immigration?

How are you suggesting the UK will do this?

Will you suppress British people emigrating to Muslm countries as well?

I wouldn't respect Reform as our Govt in the same way I never respected the Tories, but I would respect the right of their supporters to vote them in power, in the same way I would hope they'd respect my wish to vote for someone else.

Thank you for your honest answer. But you do realise it's nonsensical though, right? it would take tens of millions of Muslims coming into the country to get enough votes to do that.

If I'm reading the figures correctly, the number of migrants to the UK last year was under a million, while 700,000 people left our shores. So net migration was about 200k. Even if all of them were Muslims, that's not going to make much of a dent in the voting.

Pretty sure she'd like to ban all Muslims living in the UK but just won't come out and say it.

Way to go to avoid my point.

Where did Labour use Modi as a reason not to vote?

Why did the Greens?

To be fair, Labour (who have got a lot wrong) have done well in quietly getting net migration right down.

The boats thing remains a problem (whether you come at it from the point of not liking muslims, or not wanting kids to drown). But is a very difficult one to solve, without either breaking international treaties, or literally using lethal force. The 'smash the gangs' line is probably the least worst option but again that's much easier said than done.
