Mine is I can remember the barcode for a Cadbury crème egg. I worked in a co-op over twenty years ago and they often didn’t scan so you had to put the number in and I can still remember it.

Mountain goats are not related to 'goat' goats.

Foals are born with tentacles on their feet called foal slippers (amongst other things).

Wasn't Boris Johnson MP for Uxbridge? Can't think why I made the connection . . . . .

This might me really common knowledge but it really surprised me that when you have an organ transplant that they leave the old organ in there

Only in certain cases (usually kidneys), most of the time old organs are removed

There are no capped England football players who are turning 50 this year/were born in 1976

DinoLil · 25/02/2026 20:51

I can remember the dewey code for every subject of book in libraries. I did work experience at 14, then a Saturday job at 15 then full time to 20 before moving to a different career altogether.

I've not been in a library since.

I'm 54.

But I couldn't remember the word 'dewey' so had to Google it 🫣😆

That newborn baby smell everyone loves?
It's the smell of their brain through the soft spots that haven't formed properly in the first few days/weeks after birth
Also why the newborn smell fades, skin over soft spot forms thicker

I’m fairly sure that’s rubbish.
The baby smell is left over amniotic fluid and some waxy thing that protects the baby in the womb.

You’re physically not the same person than you were a year ago, your body replaces itself constantly but at different rates

Most of Earth and the sea is still unknown. There are entire mountain ranges underwater we’ve never properly seen. We know more about mars than our own seabed 😬

Foal slippers are called Eponychium 😀

The east end of a city ie Glasgow, London is the poorest as the prevailing wind is west to east therefore all the smog, factory smoke etc.... blew that way

There are 17 types of shark that only eat krill. ( Told to me last week by a 6 year old. I'm sure she is right!)

manateeplushie · 25/02/2026 21:10

Guinea pigs are the only animals, besides primates, who carry the genetic defect of not producing their own vitamin C, so can get scurvy like us!

Apart from your teeth!

Ah yes! Another fact, there is current research in stem cells and gene therapy that may one day let humans regrow teeth. No more implants or dentures. It’s been successful in pigs and mice
