@TodayIsatrickyone each individual one of those things would flatten me emotionally! I have no resilience for medical interactions. It scares me to even go for a routine blood test. I think I have trauma from years of being dismissed and patronised. I have refused statins because the surgery kept phoning me and pushing them. Daren't risk the side effects. BP I have to do at home because of white coat syndrome and so on. So all I can say with those is I can emphathise.

The heart is different. My younger son in law was having black outs and had a monitor implanted. His heart was actually stopping for up to 18 seconds at a time. Once the monitor recorded this he was rushed into hospital to have a pacemaker/defibrillator fitted. No driving for 6 months. But he'd been driving for years with other heart problems so it must depend what type? Hope you get some answers xx

FuzzyPuffling · 06/03/2026 12:08

@TodayIsatrickyone I'm so sorry about your driving woes. Sometimes life just piles on the crap, doesn't it? X

CoffeeBeansGalore · 06/03/2026 12:21

@TodayIsatrickyone Sorry life is throwing you lemons at the moment. Hopefully this is temporary.
When I developed Sjogren's I became too weak to drive. It's been 4 years & I miss it. I'm unable to set foot outside the house alone & the loss of independence is horrible. Although my strength is improving so hopefully I will be able to drive again in an automatic.
So I do sympathise.

@FuzzyPuffling Hope you all enjoy the wedding and fingers crossed for good weather. Be as comfortable as you can.

TodayIsatrickyone · 06/03/2026 13:52

I really hope you can one day @CoffeeBeansGalore The loss of independence is awful isnt it. I might only manage the odd school run when DH isn’t able but makes me feel useful and like like part of the world again.

We actually never thought DH would manage driving again but he uses an automatic and only does local familiar routes but it felt like a huge achievement when he managed it 10 years after his accident resulting in a serious head injury. We would be totally stuffed if he couldn’t now.

@TeaAndStrumpets yes I’m trying to avoid statins too. Got 3 months to really focus on my diet and hopefully get it down a bit so they get off my back but I did have a cant walk, cant drive, cant even eat cake strop yesterday! Actually I needed a kick to cut out the sugar/ junk food so that’s not too big a deal.

The 24 hour BP monitor I’m not looking forward to but be good to find out if that’s causing the on/ off dizziness.

Ive made some notes of what I want to say if the hospital return my call. If not, It helped to write it down and talk it over with DH so I’m feeling calmer. I actually drove on Monday just up the road to the vets but no one told me not to! Ahh well.
On a more positive note Ive started season one of Bridgerton and it’s just the lighthearted fluff and nonsense I need this week. Plus the shirtless Duke is cheering me up somewhat 😜

Swanhilde · 06/03/2026 14:20

Empathetic hugs to @TodayIsatrickyone . I can only drive very locally but would be totally dependent on DH or Uber to go anywhere if I couldn't do that. Totally understand your upset.

@FuzzyPuffling I too would like to see the trainers, whether you wear them tomorrow or not! Have a fabulous day 😍

Cold and grey here, but I've been to the allotment this morning and, as ever, am so glad I did 💚

I've had a lovely warm epsom salt bath to relax my legs and I can foresee a long nap this afternoon 🥱

Left over shepherd's pie for tea 🤤

TeaAndStrumpets · 06/03/2026 14:53

So glad your spirits have lifted a tiny bit @TodayIsatrickyone very sensible to write the questions down. I'm glad you're enjoying Bridgerton it is a real tonic!

We went to a meeting with the estate agent and our prospective buyers and looks like we are sold subject to contract. Such a relief!

TodayIsatrickyone · 06/03/2026 15:08

That’s fabulous news @TeaAndStrumpets 👏So pleased for you. No more dusting and DH hoovering for viewers!

Spoke to nurse who apologised for not making me aware re no driving last week. She was understanding but the advice still stands. I will have to just suck it up from the sounds of it unless the cardiologist says otherwise after the results of the next heart scan.

DH had the bright idea of asking for his secretaries number to try and bring the appointment forward which shes managed to do by a few weeks. Still 6 weeks off but less time to wait and wonder at least.

TodayIsatrickyone · 06/03/2026 15:13

Thanks everyone for all your support and understanding 🤗 Under the heated blanket, listening to a new audio book with the sleepy sausage dog who looks very cute in her recovery suit! Trying to think of cholesterol friendly treats!

martha79 · 06/03/2026 15:21

Great news on the house @TeaAndStrumpets

Sorry you've had so much to deal with @TodayIsatrickyone - I hope the appointment brings some helpful answers. Sausage dog snuggling sounds good.

I've had one or other cat in bed with me all day (well, they mostly like to sprawl across me), only got up for food. I do need to sort out a grocery delivery soon and get up for that but it's definitely a ready meal sort of day.

TeaAndStrumpets · 06/03/2026 15:47

@TodayIsatrickyone that was very enterprising to ring the secretary! At least you'll know where you stand, once you've got a proper diagnosis. Olive oil is very good for cholesterol, so you could make your own healthy hummus? Carrots are good too, you could make some nice dips.

Yes no more dusting! I made the agent promise me!

TeaAndStrumpets · 06/03/2026 15:48

@martha79 your cats sound very happy, it must save on heating!

@FuzzyPuffling they look fab!

MewithME · 06/03/2026 16:41

They're really cute 🥰 Hope your boots are just as comfy.

@TodayIsatrickyone an audiobook and a sausage dog snuggle sounds like heaven!

Swanhilde · 06/03/2026 16:50

They are fabulous @FuzzyPuffling ! 😍

Hope you get an equally glamorous opportunity to wear them when the weather warms up 😎

MewithME · 06/03/2026 16:51

That's fantastic @TeaAndStrumpets . Do you have a house to go to yet? I've never bought and sold. Forget how it works. Hope it all goes smoothly now.

Well I am totally floored after a very busy week. I'm going to have an epsom salt bath before tea. Going to rest for an hour first. I'm really not very well at all..

I can take some annual leave at Easter at least. Not long now. Though I will have to go see my mum so won't be all that restful. Long long drive.

I console myself that one day life will get easier, physically at least in some ways. It'll be v sad when I don't have my mum anymore and my son grows up and moves away, but when I only have myself to think about.. I'll definitely have less on my plate and will be able to rest more. Terrible thought really but it's the This too shall pass idea I suppose. Life doesn't stay still.

Thank you for the positive trainer comments.
They were only £13.50 ish so a bargain. And will get worn on the school run, to church, to the supermarket etc etc!

Tiredandwired2 · 06/03/2026 17:29

@Realisation14 Sorry to hear its a tough time. I completely relate to the feeling of it all being too much. Even though my fatigue is better it has come at a cost because I find pacing means you just build up a debt of things to do. So mentally I am struggling. My daughter has suspected OCD so I am starting to learn a bit more about that. It must be difficult with your DH. Not that he can help it💐Its the same with my daughter.

@TodayIsatrickyone So sorry. That sounds stressful and communication around that sounds shocking. It adds another layer of frustration that no one communicated with you in person

@TeaAndStrumpets Congrats on the house news. That must be a relief.

@MewithME Sorry you are feeling rubbish. I have kept up reading the posts and thought you were doing a lot but i relate when you don't have a choice. #

I have been doing ok energy wise but started doing a bit more recently and i can feel pain and fatigue creeping back in. So time so slow down again, So hard when you have a million things to do. I have started to browse some job options though so that's exciting and equally terrifying. I'm sceptical there are many employers who are disability friendly. I don't think I would ever go back to the NHS

TeaAndStrumpets · 06/03/2026 17:35

Thanks @MewithME we have a half built house which in true Grand Designs style will be ready by Christmas! Our buyers will wait for us as it suits their plans. Now I am panicking about choosing colours etc. So it's more stress but nice stress!

TeaAndStrumpets · 06/03/2026 17:44

@Tiredandwired2 I can understand accumulating a million-item long to do list when not really up to it. I am the world's worst for thinking of jobs for later then when I feel a bit better it is horribly daunting! But unfortunately I am an all or nothing person.

Hope you find a stress free job!

I completely get the all or nothing. I used to always be like that. I am better now but its not easy. I have deleted all my lists now. I simply can't look at them, its too crippling. I only plan what I can do in the next week or two and that's making things feel much more bearable.

I can't ignore them either because there are many big important things. Divorce, mortgage difficulties upcoming if not working (which may mean losing the house), finding daughters private mental health support since the NHS is letting us down once again. Working is essential for it all. But I must just take one step at a time and find some joy along the way.

martha79 · 07/03/2026 09:10

@TeaAndStrumpets the cats are delighted with all the extra napping they get to join in with these days. They're currently less delighted as the robot hoover is doing its rounds and they're still staring at it suspiciously.

@Tiredandwired2 I'm sorry you've got such a big and difficult list to deal with.

@MewithME sorry you're so tired, and I hope you can get at least a bit of rest when you have your annual leave.

Slightly thrown this morning by a text from my GP as I'm meant to be speaking with her on Monday - I'm guessing she was getting some Saturday morning admin done though as I now have my renewed fit note. Also said she'll send through info about referral to the Long COVID clinic.

I'm a bit less exhausted today but my only plans are a bit of fresh air and to cook a proper meal as I've not eaten well this week.

Swanhilde · 07/03/2026 09:45

Quiet relaxed day planned here - DH is away so I will sow some seeds and get lots of rest. Looking forward to having the bed to myself tonight ☺️

Food will be foraged from the fridge or a takeaway depending on how hungry I am 🤔

The magic kettle will also be on all day so put in your requests 🪄 ☕

A peaceful day to those who need it 💕

Morning all. @Swanhilde I love a fridge forage! That's my treat when I don't have to cook for DS Nd I'm v exhausted. I just grab a plate of bits and go back to bed with it!

Gloomy weather here. Thick cloud and quite chilly.

DS has had his plans tomorrow cancelled with friends so he's upset. We might go for pub lunch. I'm doing better than yesterday. The rest has had some impact. In no rush to get up and about so I shall have my cuppa then might ask @Swanhilde for another one 🤭

@FuzzyPuffling hope you all have a wonderful day.

How are you doing today @FurForksSake ? Hope you have managed not to murder your DH. I'm grateful to only have DS to live with sometimes. It is hard not having anyone but equally I see people struggling with relationships and their illness and I know that's no picnic.

@martha79 good news about your fit note. I can imagine the cats are not keen on the robot hoover Grin

TeaAndStrumpets · 07/03/2026 11:02

@Swanhilde thank you! My usual peppermint would be much appreciated 😀

I often get days to myself and save up TV DH hates (basically anything a bit poignant) I used to get worried being alone at night, hearing burglars etc., but I'm fine now. It is rather nice having a big bed to myself too!

@MewithME I have seen some cat/Roomba videos on youtube, this one alarms me because I fear for the cat's tail!

DGS grumps for days at unforeseen changes, but he is getting slightly better.
