Expressions MN should ban.

There are certain expressions posters frequently use on MN which just absolutely infuriate me.

"Pearl clutching " is one of these
Accusing posters who hold a different opinion of being a " pearl clutcher" is just a cheap, snearing jibe calculated to try to make someone look ridiculous and is tantamount to bullying. Imo of course.

Btw I know it's not feasible to ban but I wish people would think before they trot out this phrase which is just calculated to be unpleasant rather than adding anything to a discussion.

Does any one else have any expressions which MN posters use frequently which annoy them?

"I am absolutely devastated that SIL used my favourite girl name" I just eye roll.

No, no, no. You’re behind the times.

They're beyond devastated

A lot of those mentioned were clever/funny to start with but became overused and clichéd. For some reason 'pop' puts my teeth on edge (usually referring to slaving over a fancy dinner that you just pop in the oven). I'm rather fond of 'not my circus, not my monkeys' but I've been pulled up for using it irl so have had to let it go....

Not so much a literal expression, but when a poster 'accuses' another poster of being a man because they don't agree with their views.

You criticise a friend - "well you're not a good friend "
like you can never be pissed off with one

"What did they say when you asked them about it?"
A stupid faux-naive dig at the OP, suggesting that they are not being direct enough.

Decompress. It’s a word I’ve never heard anyone use in RL when saying they need to unwind, relax, wind down.

Yes, and the OP has often already explained why they didn't. Can't stand it.

Has anyone mentioned "OK, I'll bite" yet?

Usually said long after there have already been plenty of direct and appropriate replies.
