Just that!

OP posts:
Blueskiesnotgrey · 12/02/2026 18:03

I used it to help me complete a technical assignment for a job interview. I had a week to learn a new programming language, and that would have been impossible without AI help.

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 12/02/2026 18:04

Bugger all the same as what I use it for most days!

Bunkbedbunkbed · 12/02/2026 18:05

Nothing

Bombinia · 12/02/2026 18:05

Nothing. I'm ethically opposed to AI and I don't use it for anything.

searchforthesun · 12/02/2026 18:05

rewording an email as my brain wasn’t working

Exactly this

Bonsaibaby · 12/02/2026 18:06

To generate a short story with multiple choice questions for a listening comprehension exercise. It didn’t include question marks so I asked it why and it said to reduce visual clutter for SEN students! Nice try!

MakeYourOwnSunshine · 12/02/2026 18:06

Research for work. I was chatting to it to see how it interacted with me rather than using it to find stuff out if that makes sense.

Blueskiesnotgrey · 12/02/2026 18:10

yes you have to watch the hallucinations and use it as a tool as part of your own work. I always use ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini and for my purposes, which.is usually coding syntax help, Gemini is by far the best and ChatGPT makes up incorrect syntax!

Thats why im not overly worried about its use, as yet. It will be a long while before we dont need humans to check the output and oversee it.

1000StrawberryLollies · 12/02/2026 18:14

Nothing today. I sometimes use it to help create teaching resources, but not that often, as the results aren't always great (depending on what type of resource I'm trying to create). It's unbelievably shit at marking, so I never use it for that. I have never used it for re-wording anything or writing an email, as that's not something I've ever needed help with.

AndresyFiorella · 12/02/2026 18:14

Nothing. It's turning people stupid and destroying the planet. Also every time I've attempted to use it it gave me incorrect information.

CheddarCheeseAndCrispSandwich · 12/02/2026 18:16

I used it to reword an email that I’d written in anger/frustration, and which could possibly have got me in trouble had I sent it. I knew this…but was so cross I wasn’t able to think rationally. I asked ChatGPT to ‘reword this angry email, to make it professional and polite…without changing the actual point and ensuring I don’t get sacked’.

It did a great job to be fair…and I sent it 😂

Keep your fingers crossed 🤞 for me 😂😂

LightYearsAgo · 12/02/2026 18:16

Nothing, same as every other day.

Why is your presumption that it's something everyone uses?

Pollqueen · 12/02/2026 18:16

Dropped my emails for it to bullet points those needing a response/action

Morepositivemum · 12/02/2026 18:17

Nothing- work in a shop and have only been on mn

Rummikub · 12/02/2026 18:18

Asked chat gpt to search for med school requirements.

I do struggle with the environmental side. Though I do wonder how much more impact it has over say Mumsnet use?

rereturner · 12/02/2026 18:18

Big piece of finance work just as one small tool in amongst a lot of other research. Mainly asking it line by line re standard costings for certain provisions and whether external checkers would feel prices were reasonable or not. More of a check and balance amongst other sources also used for this.
But yes a few times where I had to remind it of certain assumptions as it kept missing them out. I view it at the moment a bit like using a calculator- I need to have a good idea of what the outcome should look like otherwise it could spit out something completely wrong - either due to my error or its.
I understand and agree with ethical and environmental concerns- I do need a handle on AI though to protect my job/career development. I gather it’s improving at an unbelievably rapid pace at the moment and many aspects of accounting will be done entirely by it - I need to ensure I have the strategic knowledge to make it work for me instead of replacing me.

Keepoffmyartichokes · 12/02/2026 18:21

Reworded an email, helped me search for a document in the database that someone else has created. It summarised my work for the past year and how that all fitted in with the company goals ready for my end of year performance review.

I don’t know if it’s true or not but I’ve been told in AI webinars that the big stats we hear about e.g how much water it uses are more applicable further up the chain in development etc and aren’t really applicable to how a regular person might be using it occasionally for work.
I wouldn’t use it to generate images though as I gather that’s the worst environmental issue at my user level. I have to sit on my hands at the moment to avoid starting wars on facebook when I see someone with an AI image of themselves and their hobbies. That’s unnecessary imo.

Skating at the Olympics

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 12/02/2026 18:30

I don’t. It’s banned in my role

Talkingtomyhouseplants · 12/02/2026 18:31

Nothing because I don’t want to needlessly destroy the planet, penalise marginalised or poor communities, support fascism contribute to the mass reduction in our society’s ability to engage in critical thought

Barrellturn · 12/02/2026 18:32

Well it's on Google, attached to Adobe and my email so it annoyingly interrupts everything I try and do.

So I have asked it to bugger off probably x 100 today. It's worse than clippy.

holjam · 12/02/2026 18:32

I used it to scan a document at work for me and break it down into some relevant points. Also used it to help me write 2 reports.

RaininSummer · 12/02/2026 18:33

Nothing and never do. Re the post below, surely using it for the programming task will lead the employer to think you know the language?
