I applied on online on Tuesday night and posted my old passport back to them on Wednesday after work (first class recorded delivery). New passport is being delivered today. So 4 days in total. Now that is gold standard service! Well done Liverpool passport office!

Wow, I hope mine is that quick!!

did you do your own photos or go somewhere to have them done?

BendingSpoons · 07/02/2026 07:06

Wow! We're going on a UK holiday in a week. I decided not to renew our passports earlier this week, as I was worried they would be returned whilst we were away. Looks like I might have managed it! We don't need them until May though, so seems I have plenty of time.

Westfacing · 07/02/2026 07:11

I also received my passport back in four days total from Liverpool!

LastNightMyPJsSavedMyLife · 07/02/2026 07:14

@FrozenFebruaryI used the booth in Tesco. Cost £10 and it came with a code you enter for online applications.

Dh's was sent off the Monday and new one here Friday...this was last month

Sirzy · 07/02/2026 07:20

Yes mine came similar from Liverpool a few weeks back

EleanorReally · 07/02/2026 07:21

amazing
dd spent a fortune on a fast track passport renewal, ahem actually i spent the fortune thinking it would take 6 weeks, which she doesnt have!

Thewonderfuleveryday · 07/02/2026 07:34

Possibly. I had a Monday to Friday renewal in January 2024. That was fast enough.

cloudengel · 07/02/2026 07:37

I just had similar. Application Monday, posted Tuesday, received new passport on Friday.

ProfessorLeveretGrey · 07/02/2026 07:38

DH's took about a week as well! We were SO impressed.

TheNightingalesStarling · 07/02/2026 07:41

Back in the olden days of paper forms and photographs, I got it back in a week.

From abroad, through the embassy system (the forms went in the official bag, into the normal system, then back into the official bag). Looking at the timeline it had been with the passport office less than a day.

soupmaker · 07/02/2026 07:43

Wow. I thought DDs was quick. Applied online on a Thursday night. Posted old passport on the Friday. New passport arrived on the Thursday.

We'd been panicking as she realised she didn’t have 3 months left to run on her old passport and was booked to go on a city break in Europe in 4 weeks time.

Squirrelchops1 · 07/02/2026 07:47

Wow. Partners took a week which I thought was pretty blooming good!

NotAFabergeEgg · 07/02/2026 07:49

Yes my DS's new one is supposed to be arriving today, 7 day turnaround. Very impressed!

TheChosenTwo · 07/02/2026 07:50

Wow! I need a new one but was clinging on to my burgundy one for dear life. Sadly it runs out in April.

SparklyGlitterballs · 07/02/2026 07:52

I had to renew mine in late 2024 and I applied online to the London passport office. Similarly, I got mine back within 4 days. I think if you apply off season you get a much quicker response time. I was very pleased and, considering how much criticism the passport office sometimes gets, I'm happy to sing their praises this time.

DeafLeppard · 07/02/2026 08:04

It’s stupidly efficient. This and the driving licence gang are masterclasses in how to deliver government services.

NeverHadAPantry · 07/02/2026 08:07

Aren't you lucky! I sent my application in the beginning of November and got the passport at the end of January!

IceIceSlippyIce · 07/02/2026 08:14

We've had slightly longer - but still under a week - including international delivery on both ends.

superking · 07/02/2026 08:21

I've applied for a new passport and driving licence in the last month - both arrived within a week. Very impressive.

Yuja · 07/02/2026 08:29

thats super quick! I just got mine back within 8 days (including a weekend) and I thought that was great

FrozenFebruary · 07/02/2026 09:49

Westfacing · 07/02/2026 07:11

I also received my passport back in four days total from Liverpool!

I'm down south, I think the go to London. Maybe j should send mine to Liverpool

fortunately/unfortunately depending on how you look at it, I don't have a holiday booked, but I just don't like not having a passport as my mum lives overseas.

i have duel citizenship but the other one needs replacing too🙄. I haven't been well this past year so it slipped my mind 🙇🏻‍♀️

TalulahJP · 07/02/2026 09:54

that’s great op.

remember everyome that this is how services should be run but can only happen if there are sufficient civil servants delivering our services.

if they cut the civil service like some political parties say thwy would, it impacts on us. we need more staff in post to deliver pensions and answer our taxation etc enquiries. - which could be paid for by closing tax loops for the mega rich so it’s a win win.

i wont vote for anyone who wants to reduce public services by reducing staff.

Newlittlerescue · 07/02/2026 10:32

DS applied last Saturday for renewal, documents were received on Tuesday, but no further progress (just checked online). But the address to send the documents was Corby so presumably a different passport office (plus DS is a dual citizen so might slow things down...)

PersephonePomegranate · 07/02/2026 10:34

That is fast! Mine took a week and I was so impressed. The renewal system is so much better now! I'd been putting it off too, expecting it to be a pain!
