I’m watching Star Trek the next generation because I’m off sick from work (long term) and I have started watching old things unused to watch back in the day …. I told myself earlier that I must be getting old because I’m looking at Jean Luc Picard, thinking he’s looking quite foxy … it always used to be the younger men back in the early 1990’s 🤣

anyone found them telling themselves that they’re getting old , and why?

Buying full knickers because they are comfortable.

HoorayHattie · 06/02/2026 17:28

I knew I was getting old the day a youngster in my church asked me if I could help her with her homework about the 2nd World War & Winston Churchill ~ she wondered what my memories were!!!
I was born in the 1950's so was able to tell her my DP's experiences bit I felt dreadfully old that day!

The day I heard a record that I'd bought when it was released played on Capital Gold. I don't even know if Capital Gold still exists.

I remember reading a list of things that identified this and the two I remember were saying 'oof!' when you sit down and reading the Lakeland catalogue in bed.
I'll see if I can find it.

Today I told people at work that when I was in primary school they used to show us films
on a cine projector - and they looked at me completely blankly

I appreciate my health.

Plenty of people I knew didn't get here, or are in recovery from various issues. I am 59.

It makes me feel positively young that. Patrick Stewart was born in 1940. Star Trek TNG started in 1987.

In the first series, he was only 47. He looked at damn site older than most men I know in their late forties, have an aged that badly.

I feel positively useful seeing that. Though why I am younger than that.

Said fairly regularly.
My dressing gown being my favourite thing to wear on a Saturday night no more heels and dresses 😆

chunkyBoo · 06/02/2026 17:56

lol thought of another one, I was at the haematologist the other week and there was a student psychologist there observing. When the consultant went out of the room I said to her ‘I’ve got to that age where I’m no longer calling for appointments, they call me ‘ … it’s so true!

I recently had an ECG before an operation, afterwards I was asked if I needed help fastening my bra. Also after my operation, I went to the toilet all by myself, amazing at 64 I could do this.
