I’ve put a baked potato in the oven for my lunch today and can now smell it cooking! I have lovely celeriac remoulade to put on it once it’s ready and some salad. I am genuinely excited for it and it’s making me so happy!

What’s brining you all joy on this grey February day?

What a lovely thread. Was just feeling sorry for myself that I'm finding maternity leave a little lonely this time... so I'll try.
I'm sat by the window all cosy watching the rain as I breastfeed my youngest.

abitsadbuthappy · 05/02/2026 11:20

@WDWY Thats lovely, I can just imagine how cosy it is. Sorry your finding it a bit lonely sometimes we have to lean into the little things to get by.

I'm going to Amsterdam this afternoon for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday. Travel brings me so much joy.

LemonBelly · 05/02/2026 11:22

Painting… I’ve never considered myself very creative but I decided to try and I’m surprised at some of the artwork I can create. And I also love that it has inspired my DSD so we’ve done a couple of painting sessions together and I love having that time to connect with her

Squirrelsandhedgehogs · 05/02/2026 11:23

Lovely thread and great idea for jacket potatoes - just told DH and he said good idea and is now braving the wind and rain to get them. So jacket potatoes and a cup of tea in bed. Kew Orchid Festival this weekend. And the cat, he's scared of wind despite being 8kgs and big though mainly fluff tbf so very cuddly.

Have a great birthday weekend @BG2015

Snowdrops and other signs of life!

abitsadbuthappy · 05/02/2026 11:35

@mcmuffin22 I saw my first solitary snowdrop yesterday, they are my favourite flower and sadly don’t thrive in my garden but I love to see them when I’m out and about!

@LemonBelly Art is my day job but yes everyone can benefit from being more creative and as you say whether it’s writing, music or painting I think many of us would be surprised at what we would be capable of. Lovely that you can share it with DSD too!

@BG2015 Enjoy your trip and birthday!

@Squirrelsandhedgehogs Happy to be of service, hope the baked potato’s are yummy and that your weekend trip to Kew is fab, your Cat sounds like quite the character too!

Had my second eye op this week and I can now see without glasses or contacts. I am thrilled and not a little amazed that this is how many people see 😁

We also have snowdrops, and I can see them too !

Didntask · 05/02/2026 11:40

Getting my roots done at my lovely hair salon.

Mydogisagentleman · 05/02/2026 11:42

Knowing that I will be back from work in a couple of hours and into bed for a nap with my electric blanket turned on.
I'm so cold, I'm a home carer and, have been frozen since I left home at 06.45

abitsadbuthappy · 05/02/2026 11:43

@Princessandpal Thats amazing and it makes me happy too! You are literally seeing the world though new eyes so to speak, must be wonderful!

@Didntask Ah it’s so nice to be pampered and looked after like that isn’t it!

That I've successfully recovered from surgery and will be going home later!

NoYourNameChanged · 05/02/2026 11:44

My babies. It’s hard to not feel overwhelmed with how wonderful life is right now; I’m sat with a coffee and a good book while my 4yo son shows his 11mo sister all his little Cars characters. He’s telling her their names, their stories and who’s friends with who etc. It is so fucking lovely. He’s such a good big brother, just an all round good egg. Bright and funny, lively and kind, all the good things. And of course, she’s merrily obsessed with him. She just spends her days following him from room to room, laughing at everything he does.

abitsadbuthappy · 05/02/2026 11:47

@Mydogisagentleman Enjoy your cosy time, you really deserve it for all the work you do!

@dailyconniptions Wonderful it’s so nice to get home after a hospital stay, met your recovery continue to be swift!

@NoYourNameChanged Honestly what on earth brings more joy than our little ones! Enjoy every moment they are so special.

I've just had a cup of tea in my new mug and a lovely iced cinnamon bun, under a fluffy blanket.

I'm embracing hygge living to get me through Jan&Feb.

My heart did feel a peek of joy though too when I saw snowdrops in my garden yesterday.

What’s bringing you joy right now?
DelinquentSnails · 05/02/2026 12:08

Not much. The weather’s grim, my dog is lame and DS is home poorly. And I just locked myself out of the house in the rain with no shoes on!

On the other hand, I’m enjoying working under my new lamp, DS14 is letting me fuss him and make hot honey and lemon, I might bake a cake later, there is one dwarf crocus in my garden, I sent a friend flowers and she messaged to say she was so happy to see them at made her cry, and it’s my choir practice tonight which is always joyful, whatever the weather.

Enjoy your little glimmers of joy folks. We need it right now!

giveyourselfapresent · 05/02/2026 12:11

I'm loving the fact I'm on lates for the next few weeks so haven't got to get up early again till the end of the month. I'm a night owl and struggle to go to sleep much before 1am, so early starts wreck me.

BettyButterBum · 05/02/2026 12:13

Greek yoghurt with black cherry compote and thats about it. feeling very sorry for myself today.

Sourisblanche · 05/02/2026 12:15

Baking at home day today. The kitchen smells lovely.

I saw some snowdrops and purple mini iris on my rather damp walk this morning.

Idstillratherbepaddleboarding · 05/02/2026 12:17

I have SAD and I’m struggling really badly, but my puppy is all warm and snuggly with his favourite teddy next to me while I WFH 🥰

What’s bringing you joy right now?
GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 05/02/2026 12:18

I’ve just put a barm brack in the oven.

dontforgetme · 05/02/2026 12:20

Got some gorgeous new pjs in the sale today which I can’t wait to jump into tomorrow evening and have a couple of drinks and a Chinese, after no takeaway January I cannot wait.

Rictasmorticia · 05/02/2026 12:20

The weather. I hate going out or having visitors. I am retired and love laying in bed till mid morning, scrolling the internet and warming afternoon tv.

24Dogcuddler · 05/02/2026 12:39

My wonderful spaniels cuddling up. Been a busy week with renovations ongoing. Our brilliant builder been this week prepping for our decorator who is kindly squeezing us in at weekend as he’s behind schedule.
Enjoy your potato OP. I might toast some of the yummy homemade bread my friend brought yesterday. I often don’t bother oops.

CurbsideProphet · 05/02/2026 13:11

I WFH and am having my lunch break on the sofa under a blanket . Nice and cosy!
