Was going to stock up on my skincare (been substituting with cheap stuff for a few months) this evening but feel like I might need to hold that off now.

Starlight40 · 31/01/2026 20:05

£54 in Aldi on some bits that are cheaper than in Tesco. I have a Tesco shop coming tomorrow. I won’t need to go to Aldi for a good few weeks now.

And £61 online at Weird Fish on two dressses and a jumper (bargin! - they are currently having a sale) as I am feeling extremely sorry for myself as I have the flu.

£13,450. Last-minute tax returns for me and two family members. That's the approx totals of my payments to HMRC Shipley. After 72 hours I can claim £1,750 be returned through DP's tax account.

I guess I come out top, then, by just over £4k. And I have absolutely FA to show for it.

As a real person living in the real world, not as a popstar, I'll tell you what I bought

A baby toy, rice, drain cleaner, multivitamins, vinegar, tea tree oil, chocolate. The rest of the month was hair bands, sponges, teabags, dog treats etc

I think my list is one of the most normal and honest

edit: socks

Probably £45 on booze only. We are on holiday

honeyfox · 31/01/2026 21:17

I was going to say nothing but forgot that I went online to buy some nail products in the morning. There was an advent calendar from the brand at half price so I bought it. It only cost twice what the products I wanted cost (and included them) so I thought sure I might as well!

Break4Love · 31/01/2026 21:19

£250 on weekly grocery shop. £80 on lunch and dinner for 6 people.

AwkwardPaws27 · 31/01/2026 21:19

£19 ish. We went to a country park for a walk, need to go food shopping so didn't have anything to take for lunch, so stopped off for some toasties and bakery cookies on the way.

thistimelastweek · 31/01/2026 21:23

£5.99 on fancy dress rabbit ears.
(Do I win?)
