How much do you pay for gas & electricity each month?

I cut down massively on my gas and electricity. Blankets and tons of clothes on during the day. Heating on only 1 hour in the morning and 2 hours spread over the evening. I'm now paying £150 per month. Dual fuel discount with Eon. How does this compare with everyone else?

They are awful arent they? The most inept and inefficient company I have ever had to deal with they make my head 🤯 I try not to deal with them too much as it is bad for my stress levels

Absolutely dreadful. I went to Citizens Advice to start because they were so inept and they really helped. Then I went to Ombudsman. I’ve got a small debit to pay off and then I’m leaving. I hate them 😫

Our heating is on from 8am until 10pm (I can't stand to be cold). We're retired, so home a lot. We both shower daily, and I do washing most days. 3 bed semi.£130 a month, dual energy Eon

Around £160 a month. 4 bed detached and a detached garage that my DH regularly used heaters in while he’s out there. We have the heating set to 22 degrees at all times. (Baby at home and we both work from home) not conscious about turning lights off etc. we have solar panels so that might help.

Not sure about current monthly DD as it comes out of DH's account but British Gas forecast for our annual bill is £1279. 3 bed flat.

Just paid £224 for a freezing cold house that I can't warm up above 16C no matter how long the heating is on for, and as soon as it's switched off it's freezing again. Only moved here a few months ago and planning to move again in Spring as it's the floors and walls where it's escaping from, not an easy fix.

which provider is this with? I’m thinking of changing and this sounds ok

Im with octopus :-) I have a referral code if you wanted to pm me. Obviously everyone's circumstances are different energy wise but ive found them a good company

£150/month 3 bed detached house, two of us home all day. £130 would actually be enough but Ovo are too intransigent/stupid to let me manage my own carefully monitored account and they insist on one month in credit in March. Nonsense. Still, as long as they can get the interest on my money, I guess everything is well with the world. Or not.

NotThatSerious · 31/01/2026 19:17

£130 electric & £20 gas (3bed, family of 5).

Chinsupmeloves · 31/01/2026 19:24

£210 a month, 3 bed older house, DH wfh and drinks gallons of tea, DC, older type boiler. Xx

Hedgesgalore · 31/01/2026 19:25

£245 for gas and electric with eon, 4 bed semi.

Two people both home during the day, dh puts heating on if he's cold, I don't but I have a gas aga on in the winter so warm up with that.

If I'm away for more than a few days I turn it down to minimum which must save some digits on my meter.

Another thing that might help is our ch is zoned for upstairs and downstairs so dh wfh puts on upstairs not the whole house.

In the summer the aga is off, my bill drops to £140

I’ve just had a massive complaint against OVO upheld by the ombudsman. They are an awful awful company. I’d move if you can.

About £300 a month, averaged out over the year for gas and electricity combined.
I really struggle with feeling cold so having a warm house is a priority for us.
