How much do you pay for gas & electricity each month?

I cut down massively on my gas and electricity. Blankets and tons of clothes on during the day. Heating on only 1 hour in the morning and 2 hours spread over the evening. I'm now paying £150 per month. Dual fuel discount with Eon. How does this compare with everyone else?

£50 electric and £20 gas.
One bed flat two of us.

MrsBelindaMay · 30/01/2026 19:54

My direct debit with Eon for double fuel is £86. It is more than what we spent each month, the exception is winter months where we have paid £140-£160. 2 parents, 2 adult children, 4-bed semi-detached.

Lunab18 · 30/01/2026 19:56

3 bed semi detached house, both work from home and this month we’ve spent £231 so far so will be £240 by the end of the month.
I have £160 month direct debit which builds up about £500 credit through summer to use over winter. I refuse to be cold so the heating is on about 10-12 hours a day.

£50 - £70 for both, depending on time of year. Two bedroom flat, just me.

Cappie73 · 30/01/2026 19:57

£50-60 pm SPAYG electric only in 1 bed flat

Seawolves · 30/01/2026 19:57

£140 a month, two of us in a two bed detached bungalow

RampantIvy · 30/01/2026 19:59

Last year - a total of -£612 due to owning solar panels.

Sorry, not what you wanted to hear.
Our January bill this year for both was £152.95 (4 bed detached house). DH is retired and I WFH so the heating is on all day.

Arthurnewyorkcity · 30/01/2026 20:00

3 bed house. Tumble drier on 5 times a week, same for washing machine. Heating on 2 hours morning and 4 evening. Was paying 150 but had an email theyre reducing it to 120

ultracynic · 30/01/2026 20:01

£294 temporarily, 4 bed house. They’ve just put it up from £209 probably because we’ve been caning the heating lately. I’ll be able to reduce it again in a few weeks as we’ll still be in credit going into spring.

However, after a really cold winter a couple of years ago when we tried hard not to put it on much, I realised I’d rather be warm and forego other things. Already spent £8 on gas today, not ideal but I’m toasty.

GalaxyJam · 30/01/2026 20:02

£287 a month by DD. 5 of us, 5 bed house. Heating on all winter as I refuse to be cold at home.

TheSmallAssassin · 30/01/2026 20:03

£150 for us in a four bedroom house with 3-4 adults. One of whom is home all day 😩

bluedancingtwiglet · 30/01/2026 20:10

Dual fuel Next Eon - currently about 80 per month for gas and electricity 70 . We pay 100 a month which covers us for the year. 3 bed detached 2019 built two of us at home all the time.

Cappie73 · 30/01/2026 19:57

£50-60 pm SPAYG electric only in 1 bed flat

Do you have standing charges with that ?

AnimalPeople · 30/01/2026 20:15

Just over £300 a month.

cadburyegg · 30/01/2026 20:15

£150 a month. I also get warm home discount so £150 a year added to my bill.

I’m currently £500 in credit so it’s too much obviously but I’d rather have something to fall back on. Particularly after my boiler blew up at the start of winter and I spent £50 on electricity in 3 days thanks to cold snap and using electric heaters.

1950s semi detached, 3 bedrooms, 1 adult and 2 kids. I’m careful and don’t waste heating but I also refuse to be cold.

MotherOfRatios · 30/01/2026 20:16

2 bed flat, only me that lives here, octopus I pay £100.70 but I'm billed between £30-45 in electric and £10-20 in gas

Meadowfinch · 30/01/2026 20:17

£130 per month.
Four bed detached Victorian cottage.
1 adult, 1 ds17

Hummusanddipdip · 30/01/2026 20:17

£164 duel. I'm looking forward to contract end and leaving EON. 3 bed detached house, 2 adults, 2 children under 6 and dh wfh 3 days a week.

It was £65 and £68 seperate, then they wanted to up our electricity by £10, admittedly it had a debt, but we had a huge credit on gas. I called to move the credit and balance the 2 accounts and refuse the increase. The woman convinced to to combine them saying it'll spread the credit and stop an increase. Month later they put it up another £30 to the £164. I called to complain and they said "its the winter months" just got an email today saying they're reducing our dd to £115 as our account has a huge credit... no shit!

BrendaSmall · 30/01/2026 20:19

£130 month electric
£50 month gas
3 bed house 2 adults

NewYearNewMee · 30/01/2026 20:19

£150 per month for both Gas & Electric. Heating on every day between October - March all day 😂 atmosphere lighting on too! 4 bed detached. Work from home so devices always on, dishwasher every day, 2-3 showers a day, 6-7 washing loads a week.

Gas - 21p a day standing charge, 5.7p per kWh
Electric - 40.4p a day standing charge, 23p per kWh.

Crunchymum · 30/01/2026 20:19

£180 per month. 3 bed, 4 residents, 1 work from home.

Have been extra cold this winter and it's something I refuse to compromise on. Being too cold is awful.

crackadawn · 30/01/2026 20:23

£300 - 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 log burners so try not to have the heating on apart from the first hour of the day.

Detached bungalow.

Need to give them a ring, seems like I'm paying the most and we're all freezing

AbbotSade1985 · 30/01/2026 20:25

Thanks everyone! I don't have the heating on during the day, but it seems I'm actually not saving that much!

maggiesleapp · 30/01/2026 20:25

3 bed end terrace. £49 gas via card per month via card throughout the year and around £50 per month electric. 2 adults, we both work full time. Pay around £200 per year for logs for burner on top. Gas heating, hob and shower.
house always warm, log burner lit at weekends if we arent out.

@NewYearNewMee could I ask where you are geographically? Just looked at my tariff and it’s a fair bit higher than yours!
