Just that. Interested to see if anyone says what I'm thinking...

Lincolnshire.

So flat, boring and uninteresting.

And fields and fields of cabbages.

Lol I meant a holiday destination. I would actually love to visit Centre Parcs but I only do holidays solo and I would look and feel very odd going to such a family orientated place alone!

Clacton on sea. Dire.

Tunisia
Beaulieu Motor Museum
Sharm el Sheikh

Oh god that motor museum is dire. A load of pensioners looking at old cars

I don't know if you were there a fortnight or a weekend but I'm willing to believe that a weekend felt like a fortnight.

Grey sea to reflect the sky and a whole country's worth of midgies in clouds of biblical proportions. Only entertainment was walking up the midge infested path to the little shop to buy sweets. We went twice and the second time my Gran came too so I had to sleep on the caravan's table instead of a bed.

Magical times...

Haha yes that’s what I meant, a weekend that felt like a fortnight and not in a good way

Camping

With 2 tiny boys

moose jaw, Canada 🇨🇦

Well, my son has a certificate to say that the Littlest Hobo was deputy mayor there, so surely that makes it worth visiting? 😁

Budapest!

Like Budapest Hungary?

No! It's one of the best cities in Europe I've been to. Loads to do.

Edited

I agree. We were only there 2 days and were flat out the whole time, could have stayed much longer as had no time to explore the lovely bars and restaurants, we literally just did the touristy things. Its absolutely stunning!

TBH loads of places I love have been mentioned here, Berlin, Vegas, Devon, Cornwall, I'm sure there are others mentioned I have forgotten.

suburberphobe · 26/01/2026 00:36

Germany…just awful

😂Germany is huge, and so many amazing places. I am sure there are a lot of boring places within the whole country but there's so much to see there. I have travelled to lots of places in Germany and would love to do more.

Budapest. Unless you want to get off your tits every night, there’s very little to do.

There’s loads to do in Budapest it’s lovely

Sardinia - maybe it was the resort we stayed in but was the most boring, underwhelming place ever with nothing to do. Couldn't wait to leave.

Greenwich - went on a trip to London. On the way home called in here, on a wet, cold Sunday. The coach driver, when it was time to get back on asked over the mike 'was that too long to stay here, should we take it off the itinerary' and there were resounding cries of 'yes!'

Monaco - concrete jungle. So built up there was just nothing nice about it, tiny apartments all on top of each other and built into the rock. Ohh I guess unless you're a millionaire who doesn't want to pay tax.

AwfullyGood · 26/01/2026 00:43

Pisa - apart from a very underwhelming leaning tower, there's nothing else there. How it gets €6m visitors a year is unreal, their tourism board have out done themselves.

Southend On Sea - not sure it was boring as it was eventful but it's one of the worst places I've ever been.

Aintgointogoa · 26/01/2026 00:46

Shanklin bus station, Isle of Wight. Not as exciting as it sounds.

3678194b · 26/01/2026 00:47

I remember Pisa @AwfullyGood . Getting hassled on the way in by men trying to sell fake handbags, wouldn't leave us alone.

Toddler needed a wee. Ran into the Mcdonalds where there were guards 'guarding' the loos. No you can't use the loo unless you're a paying customer. I had to give him money, DC couldn't wait that long. Could totally understand but it was the dirtiest, repulsive Maccies ever seen.

Mosaic123 · 26/01/2026 00:48

Sydney Cricket Ground during The Ashes cricket match. I read books for three days.

Roomforapony · 26/01/2026 00:53

Ventimiglia, Italy.

We took the train from Monte Carlo to view the Roman ruins.
The walk from the station via the rubbish strewn beach/graffitied seafront was utterly depressing and when we reached the ruins they were closed!
We caught the next train back so spent approximately an hour and a half there which was an hour and 20 minutes too long!
However, it did confirm our family's uncanny super power of being able to find a MacDonalds, (that’s the 10 minutes we used for a toilet and water break), whenever we are in an unfamiliar place without needing any help from google maps. This is extremely handy when there’s no internet and you need the loo😂😂

Brussels and Panama City (I found Panama generally v dull apart from the canal tbh).

Ficca · 26/01/2026 01:03

Wigtown, Scotland's national book capital in October. We love books, we love Scotland, it should have been a match made in heaven.
It was awful - pissed it down all week, most things were closed and the bookshops were dusty, overpriced and smelled of mildew. This was about 18yrs ago, so things may have changed but we won't be hurrying back.

Venice, which I am sure makes me appalling…

Absolutely loved Venice. The architecture was amazing and even our children aged 3,7 and 9 were captivated.

I had to Google to check that it wasn’t the same shitty place we once spent 2 hours in. It’s an uncannily similar description down to the rubbish strewn beach and graffiti but ours was Castellammare di Stabia.

We had also gone there to go on an attraction that turned out to be closed and had to wait for the next train back to Sorrento.

However it turned out that perhaps I should not have been so down on Castellammare di Stabia because, shitty as it was, we were still alive at the end of it. The attraction that we didn’t get to go on was the Monte Faito cable car that killed 4 of its passengers the following year. There are certainly worse things than boredom.

Paris.
Was my ideal romantic weekend forever, my then BF booked it (I was 24).
Was awful.
Service terrible everywhere, the whole city smelled like a rotting corpse, queues for everything, all men and I mean ALL men constantly leering and making comments/physical approaches.
Burn it to the ground and bulldoze it into the sea.

But it’s landlocked !

I visited a chocolate factory in Spain once. It was nothing like I imagined it would be 🤣 it was so boring, the only bit that saved it was at the end you could just help yourself to as much chocolate as you could eat.

Where exactly was that? I want to buy a season ticket

GrumpyButOk · 26/01/2026 01:43

Wednesbury. The name seemed villagey and historic so I expected a delightfully quirky village or similar. I was very, very wrong.
