Just that. Interested to see if anyone says what I'm thinking...

Sutton Hoo is shit. There, I said it.

Natural history museum. Cannot understand why people rave about it.

I second that

Cando6 · 25/01/2026 18:36

😮 at some of these.
Many of these are amazing places.
Maybe we should have a Most Interesting thread. For me that would be:
London.
York
Sri Lanka
India
Thailand

We only have one place that was a complete failure so Cockermouth is what we threaten the children with.

A former colleague of mine once had to spend a week in Aberdeen for work. When he got back he said he'd never been anywhere so depressing. The whole place was grey, he said, and when it rained (which was most of the time), dark grey.

Cando6 · 25/01/2026 18:37

NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM BORING? I could spend the rest of my life there

ImWearingPantaloons · 25/01/2026 18:38

Unhelpful as I can’t remember exactly where in Victoria (Australia) it was, but me, my then boyfriend and two friends rented a converted lighthouse for a weekend.
It was (perhaps unsurprisingly) miles from ANYWHERE, there was a storm of almost biblical proportions and our friends, who said they’d ’bring games’ brought backgammon. Only.
So other than reading or talking there was fuck all to do.

The tension in the air was palpable. I felt I was in a real life Roman Polanski film.

EmbracingUncertainty · 25/01/2026 18:50

Devon, visited a few times to visit family and found the whole place very underwhelming

PinkArt · 25/01/2026 18:51

Toronto.

He should think himself lucky it was just a week.

That said, the surrounding countryside is lovely if you like getting out and about.

MrsHLQ · 25/01/2026 18:53

UK: Hemel Hempstead and Luton

Abroad: Palma De Majorca

I went after hearing various friends rave about it for years. I left a week later mystified.

it was super busy with Brits, Germans and Scandinavians and I have no idea why

Okayfenokay · 25/01/2026 18:53

Tezza1 · 25/01/2026 18:26

Jakarta.

I think 99% of people that have visited Jakarta would agree with that. Tragic and sad. What an awful lifestyle.

Piknik · 25/01/2026 18:55

Antigua - so boring. Nice enough beach (I am a beach bum) but nothing special, no atmosphere, average food and fuck all to do.

Munich - Four million shades of grey

Agadir - dirty, dull, grimy, soulless.

MammaBear1 · 25/01/2026 18:55

Helmshore Textile Museum. It was a school trip and I’ve never been so bored in my entire life. 😂

ThatAgileLimeCat · 25/01/2026 18:56

WafflePlusWord · 25/01/2026 14:08

The tank museum in Dorset. Never want to see another tank in my life. There were just too many tanks, I mean I know the clue is in the name, but there were just too many. I really hate tanks now.

Ooh I love a tank museum. And a steam train museum. Whatever you do don't get stuck talking to me at a party 🤣

Foggytree · 25/01/2026 18:57

Went to the Docklands museum in London after someone raved about it and said my kids would love it. They didn't. It was meh.

Abhannmor · 25/01/2026 18:57

Snugs10 · 25/01/2026 18:31

I second that

The Natural History Museum in Dublin is known as the Dead Zoo to Irish children. But I can't say it's dead boring as I've never been.

Littletreefrog · 25/01/2026 18:59

Isle of Wight.

Foggytree · 25/01/2026 18:59

Not been myself but DH claimed that Dublin is very overrated. Very little there.

Freudianflip · 25/01/2026 19:00

Tenerife was dull. Albuferia was awful. I can usually make my own fun with my travel companion but these two were very boring!

Dymaxion · 25/01/2026 19:00

A very small island off the north coast of Scotland, bored senseless for two weeks as a teenager, would absolutely love it now.

PistachioTiramisu · 25/01/2026 19:00

Tezza1 · 25/01/2026 18:26

Jakarta.

No - she went of her own accord! Sorry - old joke!

venusandmars · 25/01/2026 19:02

The pencil museum in the Lake District. Thanks Mum!

lissie123 · 25/01/2026 19:02

Brussels and Cork

Soontobesingles · 25/01/2026 19:03

Funnywonder · 25/01/2026 14:43

That’s unfair I think, to call people boring for not liking something. Sometimes people have overinflated expectations or they aren’t feeling in the best form or they simply like different things. I can imagine some people feeling overwhelmed in a big city. Do you think that everyone should like New York just because you do?

I mean, you don’t have to like New York, I can see why someone could find it dirty, overwhelming and expensive - but yes you have to be pretty dull to be bored there.

ThatAgileLimeCat · 25/01/2026 19:04

Scarborough and Great Yarmouth had a really depressing feel, even in the sunshine.

Didn't love Dublin.

Adore Crete but didn't take to Rhodes for some reason.
