It's a long way to go for two days. From the south of England it's a 4-hour flight, longer if going from the north/Scotland. You're more likely to get warm weather, if going at this time of year, but it's not guaranteed and if it rains for two days that would be a real bummer!

MyDeepPearlNewt · 21/01/2026 14:27

I’ve been for 24 hours before. If flying in and out on the same day was an option I’d do that as well.

hidingmynamesake · 21/01/2026 14:28

Def not. Presume you're flying from uk in which case it's a 4 hour flight. Factor in , the time you need to be at the airport before the fight at each end. A 4 hour flight is a lot more expensive than a 2 hour flight to mainland spain. You would only get two full days over there

I wouldn't do it.

Well, people go to Cornwall for two nights, 5 hours in the car so I guess it's not too much longer if you include all the faffing at the airport.

Do you mean you come back Sunday midnight? You'll have to check out of your hotel way before you travel to the airport so I always find that a pain.

so check out Monday morning

Fri-mon is 3 nights, yes I would. 2 nights, only if dirt cheap.

LostThestral · 21/01/2026 14:34

no but then I wouldn't go to Tenerife for any amount of time

So 3 nights? Friday, Saturday and Sunday?

GOAT26 · 21/01/2026 14:34

Personally I wouldn't bother for all the travel time and faff involved. If you get delayed it just wouldn't be worth it.

Tallyho15 · 21/01/2026 14:34

If you arrive Friday night surely it’s 3 nights in a hotel. I would do that - 2 full days to enjoy. But if it’s actually Saturday night you arrive then no I wouldn’t

CannotBeInterestedInYourDrama · 21/01/2026 14:34

No, but then I wouldn't go to Tenerife anyway.

TheAutumnCrow · 21/01/2026 14:35

Are you having a night in an airport or something?

Stopbringingmicehome · 21/01/2026 14:36

I'd do it, although only if it was a bargain

Octavia64 · 21/01/2026 14:36

Hell no,

but I hate travel days.

MyDarlingClement · 21/01/2026 14:36

No I wouldn't go for less than 4 nights minimum. Also, I went to the Canaries in Feb and it rained half the time, so that would be pretty disappointing.

DJSteves · 21/01/2026 14:38

If the flights work I’d go. You can do a lot in two full days

OrangeisthenewBrown · 21/01/2026 14:43

So, you'd have 3 nights (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and 2 full days (Saturday and Sunday) in Tenerife?

Yes, I would be prepared to do that. I went to Gran Canaria for 4 nights in late November a few years ago. It was lovely! A much needed injection of warmth and sunshine. It felt more like 4 weeks!

FuzzyWolf · 21/01/2026 14:45

I would but then I am happy to travel. It’s the same time zone so that means it’s not anything other than travel fatigue to factor in.

HolidayPlanningAgain · 21/01/2026 14:53

Absolutely, have done it a couple of times. It takes me 4/5 hrs each way to see my dad every 6 weeks so I don’t see much difference except I get to lay in the sun with a book if I go to Tenerife rather than clean my dads house and sort his admin stuff out!

inkyspells · 21/01/2026 14:53

Sorry I’m loosing my mind it’s Saturday -Monday same times
so 2 nights

We are planning on having a night near airport on the Friday to get a extra night away

OP posts:
inkyspells · 21/01/2026 14:55

I’m just desperate for any warmth really
Our main holiday isn’t till middle of June and it sees so far away

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 21/01/2026 14:57

Personally I wouldn't get on a plane anywhere just for two nights. Even just driving somewhere in the UK I'd generally be looking at at least 3 nights for anything longer than a 3 hour drive. Don't see the point in travelling unless you actually get to spend some time in the place you're going to.

MiddleAgedDread · 21/01/2026 14:57

personally no, flight time is too long for that length of stay (but then I'm way up north so flight time might be an hour longer than if you're in the south). You've basically got 2 full days there and breakfast Monday before you need to head to the airport.
