Has anyone seen his recent statement on Instagram? I actually feel very sorry for him.

Presumably then young Brooklyn and Nicole will retreat to have a family and raise them out of the media glare by remaining private individuals from this point on.
A lot of what he says rings true.

They’re both very active on insta…

NewAgeNewMe · 19/01/2026 23:17

The beckhams were near me. They stood for hours in our local M&S signing autographs for kids, with smiles on their faces on their way to the food department. I know I was there. I saw a nice couple with their DCs. They didn’t have to do that. Maybe they were abusive, maybe they humiliated him. But we have only one side of the story.

The Beckhams started selling their kids before they were born. You’d have to be completely thick if you think that wouldn’t have an effect on them. None of us know if Brooklyn asked his parents if he could be left out of all these events where he’d be papped and put all over the tabloids. All we know is that their actions resulted in him growing up with acute anxiety.

I believe everything he’s said. I hope he’s ok.

I do too but this won’t help his anxiety nor plastering himself on social media

I agree with every word.
My IG page threw up an old photo the other day of David and Victoria leaving a famous restaurant (maybe The Ivy) with a brand new tiny baby Brooklyn and a hoard of photographers clicking away. Obviously BB won't remember that but it highlights how his parents chased the fame from the start of his life.

I haven't always had a lot of time for Brooklyn and do wish he'd live quietly and with a proper trade behind him (go to culinary school) rather than trade on his surname. But I do wish him well. Dave and Victoria, less so!

I get where you're coming from although I sort of agree with @Gahr
I don't really care for 'celebrity gossip ' but I'm watching this one and kind of hope that he inspires one of his other siblings to speak up about life at home.
They have kept some dodgy company over the years..... Just saying.

Harper is still a child of course, but as far as I know Romeo and Cruz aren’t fully independent yet so I doubt they’ll be speaking out (can’t blame them).

PinkPanther57 · 19/01/2026 23:16

If Tom Bowers is correct DB is equally to blame but no public humiliation for him to suffer?

He has mentioned brand beckham, used the word facade etc so it includes them both. He did say he was only addressing some of it though. But maybe his mum was worse. It’s not always fathers that are the worst. My MIL was far worse than FIL.

mumuseli · 19/01/2026 23:21

I think one thing that prompted him to issue this statement is that recently he’s had a lot of the public against him eg when he posted anything on his social media, he was getting bombarded with comments from people telling him to make up with his parents and people slating him for being a spoiled boy who didn’t appreciate what his parents had done for him.
So I reckon he was sick of that and thought he couldn’t go on like that, so he wanted to set the record straight.

Maybe they knew they were in public and the behaviour you saw was completely different from how they are behind closed doors.

You saw a teeny tiny snapshot of their public life. It’s completely different to their 26 year old adult child speaking out!

Maybe but Goldenballs apparently teflon.

Good for him to air his side.

Now Brooklyn and his wife need to stay away from the media, forever.

ForFunGoose · 19/01/2026 23:23

DB had fame and fortune while his kids were young. He still dragged them all over the world to further his name which left little stability/education for the children.
The 4 kids are trapped in the brand because of the greed and ego of their parents.
Their sham marriage and brand is a gilded cage and I think all the children will eventually follow Brooklyn.

EdithBond · 19/01/2026 23:23

jumpintheline · 19/01/2026 23:05

Can anyone explain to me the bit about the rights to his name bit, and the reference to “payday”? I don’t get it.

(they) “repeatedly pressured me and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name”

what rights? Does this mean they asked him to drop the Beckham name? Not give it to Peltz or their kids?

then he says he refused to do this, which “affected the payday”.

what is payday?!

Assume the same as you. The Beckham name presumably trademarked, copyrighted or whatever. If Nicola and any children took the name (and even kept it post a future divorce), maybe the worry was she’d have a legal claim to profit from it or use it in ways that could ‘damage the brand’.

But I don’t follow how his delay in signing away rights lost them money. Were they wanting to take a cut of his earnings, due to owning rights to the name?

Yes of course but we still only have his side of the story. There are usually 3 sides. A’s, B’s and the truth somewhere in the middle.

Possibly, maybe him and Nic did it after a few glasses of the Screaming Eagle thousands of dollar wine they were posting about.

My mum is lovely outside. Once we got indoors she was a totally different person. It was like living with Jekyll and Hyde.

The Beckhams have an image to keep up.

That is part of the brand though, and let’s be honest, anyone can be nice for a short time.

Be less naive.

I met a famous musician once, he seemed nice. It turned out he was a rapist and also liked very young girls.

Because parents like the Beckhams wouldn’t be averse to using even their 14 year old child in this. And no doubt Harper is too young and indoctrinated to see what’s going on, and powerless even if she did.

Maybe Brooklyn and Harper are in touch - who knows. They’d want to keep it low key.

I kind of read that differently - their children had to wait for their parents to receive their adulation. Nice to your ‘fans’ but not so nice for your kids.

Brooklyn interviewed in a half a mill pound car on chef career recently, He came across well but who paid? Without Mum & Dad Romeo & Cruz couldn’t have top models & sports cars, so…

Plenty of people said similar about Jimmy Saville and look how that turned out...

TooBigForMyBoots · 19/01/2026 23:28

NewAgeNewMe · 19/01/2026 23:05

He wouldn’t have done this without his billionaire FIL behind him. He would never have met his wife if he hadn’t been a Beckham.

I’d be devastated if I was VB and my child had humiliated me to such a degree.

Let’s hope his wife doesn’t divorce him when she gets fed up of him or he doesn’t toe the billionaire line, as he’s burnt all his bridges.

No.

He probably would have had some GCSEs, a job and a few girlfriends before settling down. Quietly.

As it is, his parents were marketing him before he was even born.

NewAgeNewMe · 19/01/2026 23:30

Very true about Saville. I hadn’t thought of that.

Why naive? @TakeTen there are generally their side, your side and the truth somewhere in the middle. Not always I grant you.

Yep.
My friend works backstage at a venue that deals with a lot of famous people, many of whom are gorgeous on stage but a very different story off it. People will always show what they want you to see and the thought that the Beckhams were going to be anything other than "on" in M&S is hilarious.
