Crème egg disappointment.

Aside from the fact that they use to come out in March and it was exciting waiting for the first one,

Ivw just eaten one for the first time in about 15 years. Ate it in two bites with my front teeth. How depressing😟

Used to have to get your molars into the top as it was so thick with chocolate. And had to sort of gnaw through the chocolate. And the thick chocolate shell is like a skin.

Now 2 bites and it gone. What a disappointment it turned out to be😭

They are so sad aren’t they. They used to be a whole experience for me. I used to open the box and enjoy the smell wafting out.. then smell the chocolate through the foil and it was heaven. Then the thick creamy chocolate to gnaw through and beautiful insides.
Now they are small and smell of NOTHING. I just feel sick eating one now. Same with so much chocolate these days. Not worth the calories.. I used to love galaxy and yorkies too.

Yeah feel a bit queasy now. What a fucking let down. I remeber the anticipation of the first crème egg of the year that you had to gnaw through!

I just ate my first creme egg of the year. The chocolate is so crumbly and greasy now, nothing like it used to be. My 4 year old left half of his, which says it all...

Wasnt a massive bag or anything

MysticMig · 18/01/2026 11:59

The biscoff ones are nice. But I'm a tart for anything biscoff

Robertplantgoddess · 18/01/2026 12:04

Creme eggs are exactly the same size as they have always been.
Recipe has changed definitely but same moulds used, same weight etc.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 18/01/2026 12:05

Crème eggs have always been disgusting. Love a mini egg though

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/01/2026 12:06

Have you tried the Terry's Chocolate Orange eggs. They're lovely.

Creme Eggs have been minging for a while.

They are NOT! I’m going back to the 80’s and 90’s.

They were much bigger and thicker. I’m a sucker for any egg based chocolate. Orange ones are gorgeous. I haven’t tried Biscoff ones but they are now on the list.

Mini eggs are outrageous now. There was a whole sub on Reddit about the cost of them last year.

It's funny pp mentioned the lack of smell. That's what I noticed about my post Christmas egg, no chocolatey smell. Tasted bland. What a shame, the enshittification continues.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 18/01/2026 12:21

‘Post Christmas egg’😂

Is this a thing now?’

Not sure how to link etc but feel free to Google it. Recipe has definitely changed. Chances are chocolate is thinner and shitter so they are definitely not the joy they once were.

Not true. They are noticeably smaller. And don't taste as good.

Like Flakes. Another delicious chocolate treat that is now rank.

And where do you get these delights? I love biscoff so much 😋

FlutterShite · 18/01/2026 21:04

It’s all finished, isn't it? I got myself a box of Milk Tray recently, just for the fun of it, and they were horrible. One of them tasted like the smell of stale piss in a phone box. I couldn’t believe how awful they were.

Wrong

justasking111 · 18/01/2026 21:07

Last year my DH bought me a dark chocolate egg for Easter from Lidl. It wasn't a British make and was lovely. So I'm going to look out for them this year.

Wrong

Everyone keeps saying I'm wrong but the quickest check will show weight has been consistent at 39g-40g from 1973. Happy to be shown I'm wrong as opposed to just told.

I got some from B&M. They were put in DH's and DS's stockings for Christmas and there were nearly fights over them.

Highly recommended...

Christ I wish I could find chocolate disgusting. All the anguish on here about how bad Cadburys is now.

I could still eat a shitload.

I do agree with you although I'm now dairy free so mainly eat free from galaxy's and vegos which are in fact delicious!
