Thank you everyone for your kind messages. Because it was a back tooth and not a front one and it's on NHS exempt they said they had to use a metal filling not a composite one. I'm back in again with them on Wednesday and I'll see if they can do anything, according to dentist Google there is a resin they can put over the mercury filling to stop the current happening until it oxides in its own time, supposedly it is a temporary thing. I'm still having it a couple of times per house ๐Ÿ˜” barely slept last night.

I'm also a bit of a wreck this morning because of a dream. I very rarely remember my dreams but I was dreaming about lying in bed with my OH just cuddling and chatting about nothing for hours. Waking up to a cold empty bed was rough.

It's coming up to the two year anniversary of his death in a few weeks. I had a lot of nightmares in the run up last year. I'm not sure if they were worse compared to this honestly.

I've spent the last two hours getting showered and ready for my usual Sunday visit to my mother's house. I've not been able to work for a few years now so this is the only time I tend to get to leave the house and be social on a regular basis so I don't want to not go, but I'm also really not in the mood.

That is so sad, I'm sure that was a difficult dream to let go of. I often have dreams of my loved ones who have passed and sometimes it's really soul destroying.

Morning all!

We have so much packed away we can't find anything. DH is turning the house upside down looking for his 'funeral' tie which is AWOL. I have found one on Amazon Prime but he is still searching....

Slight sunshine here, glad to see it. I am waking up slightly deaf so I blame the dreary weather.

TodayIsatrickyone · 09/02/2026 09:37

Morning! Some sunshine here too and I slept well so a double win. May attempt a short dog walk today just to my usual bench if weather/ energy permits.

Strange you say about the funeral tie as my DH did the exact same thing a little while back, looked everywhere. Only to then remember heโ€™d lent it to DS a year previously who had put it in his suit pocket and travelled back to Scotland with it!๐Ÿ™„
Amazon Prime definitely comes in handy in these scenarios!

FurForksSake · 09/02/2026 09:44

Morning! Tiny bit of sun here, I must use it to go in the garden and feed the bird feeders.

this time next week should be my last day of sick leave. Iโ€™ve got today and tomorrow and then meetings about it for the next three days. I just need to rip the band aid off now.

Orangesandlemons77 · 09/02/2026 09:58

Morning. Have woke up and no usual pain meds so DH says he will pick up the prescription.

Looks like yet another grey day. Really missing swimming.

Anyway sorry for a bit of a moan I think a bit of brightness โ˜€๏ธ might cheer us all up

TeaAndStrumpets · 09/02/2026 12:59

We've had a drive out in the countryside to visit DD2 who's had pneumonia. She's a lot better but struggling with domestic stuff. I wish I could help, her family all seem to expect her to struggle through. I have warned her not to end up like me!

Lots of snowdrops everywhere, roll on Spring!

Gave up on the black tie, got one off Amazon in the end.

FurForksSake · 09/02/2026 13:40

Kiln is doing the initial firing. Iโ€™m hoping programme it correctly.

What are you up to today if you have a chronic illness? Thread 5

So exciting! What will you make first?

FurForksSake · 09/02/2026 13:59

I have some pots I am going to fire and glaze, they arenโ€™t great but theyโ€™ll be good for testing. And then I want to get started on some handled cereal bowls and some small planters with drip trays. And Iโ€™ve got some hand building ideas I want to try. Itโ€™s very exciting

Orangesandlemons77 · 09/02/2026 14:39

I am getting cross about people wishing me well on my 'healing journey' or 'recovery'
I know they mean well but some stuff is just chronic / long term and it can make you feel like you aren't trying or something. Or being negative. But the ME / CFS course focused on acceptance, which is kind of where I am at now.

Best of luck, it all sounds very appealing. Matching drip trays is a great idea, my plant pots get put on old saucers!

This is just so true. People disregard the 'chronic' word!

FurForksSake · 09/02/2026 15:56

Thank you. It feels like exciting to be able to be creative again.

I was on a different site for work today so had a nice drive in on the scenic route. Loads of snow drops and the river getting very high indeed but no dramas. Seen worse.

Busy morning but all fine. Back home and in bed now. Body is fizzing and nerves twitching. Tinnitus is mid level today. Joints not great. Bit of stomach pain. But WFH tomorrow and Weds.

Spring is getting nearer. I finished off my Moominland Midwinter book yesterday finally after starting it at Christmas. So sweet. All of them awake and welcoming in the spring... just like us apart from the fully awake bit ๐Ÿ˜‚

I think that's really good about acceptance from your course. I think I've found I accepted it better than some of my family and some colleagues. People who I think see illness as weakness. But that's about them and not us.

There's strength in acceptance and knowing ourselves. We have to lead the best lives we can with what we have.

@Orangesandlemons77 I have one colleague who is supportive in many ways but can totally do the toxic positivity thing. She's always saying I look better and I'm doing better. I am objectively not either of those things. She's a silly moo but I forgive her ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜

Back from work and in bed with a cuppa โ˜•

I am completely knackered and it's only Monday! But I know that the apple pie, chocolate cake and small glass of wine I consumed yesterday will be the reason. They were delicious though (and worth it). I haven't had a glass of wine since Christmas day!๐Ÿท

Early night then repeat tomorrow ...

Have a peaceful evening all ๐Ÿ’•

BerfyTigot · 09/02/2026 18:02

@Swanhilde do you find that your diet affects your energy levels?
(Apologies if you've mentioned already).

When I was bedbound a year ago I didn't care what I ate, but now I'm beginning to wonder if I can improve even more. I just find it so hard to control myself, and food gives a little pleasure in what can be a joyless life.

It definitely affects the quality of my sleep @BerfyTigot and that knocks onto my fatigue.

Alcohol is the worst, closely followed by sugar, so I try to avoid them generally. Or eat/drink them in full acceptance of the outcome ๐Ÿ˜•

I absolutely feel better when I eat cleaner (whether that's psychological or not) ...

FuzzyPuffling · 09/02/2026 18:50

Evening all.
Its rained all day again here. I had a medical appt this morning, as did DH. I did a bit of housework and cooked dinner.
Now I am watching the ice dancing and trying not to eat chocolate.

Struggling a bit to write very much on MN, so im sorry if im a bit quiet now.

MewithME · 09/02/2026 19:25

That's ok @FuzzyPuffling . Enjoy the ice dancing. (And chocolate ๐Ÿซ If you give in ๐Ÿ˜ˆ)

OP posts:
BerfyTigot · 09/02/2026 21:00

@Swanhilde thanks for that. I don't really drink but if staying away from sugar will help my sleep, that's something I might try.

VikingNorthUtsire · 09/02/2026 21:22

DH (household cook) has been away this last week so i've had to cook more which has been a stretch for me. But (sorry DH) my cooking is so much healthier. I have an app where you can track whether you've eaten 30 different plants in a week - I ate 41 last week.

It's hard to say if I feel better in my body as there's so much rise going on, but I definitely feel better in my mind. There's so much we can't control and (while I definitely also like a treat - plenty of those in my diet) this is one thing that I CAN do for myself.

I'll be very grateful when DH is back although I will watch my diet slide back downhill again.

Stressybetty · 09/02/2026 21:30

@BerfyTigot I really struggle with food, I seem to crave quick energy boosts and unhealthy things. Think it's mainly fatigue and hormonal. Am overweight and always anxious and on edge too. Alcohol gives me a bad stomach and hangover for days and sugar and caffeine make me worse too.
