On the electrolytes, I have been having them recently but can't get over the worry about taking in too much salt, isn't that meant to be bad for us? Also the taste, the sweet and salty taste takes some getting used to.

But once after a bowel obstruction I had really low potassium and had to have a drip in the hospital. I get a lot of palpitations and think the electrolytes might help- not sure. It's a tricky one, and they can be quite expensive.

FurForksSake · 02/02/2026 12:02

My son and husband drink one called vidrate that they say tastes actually nice. Just one a day or if they have a headache.

I have capsules as I have really severe taste aversions and can only drink very specific drinks.

I think as long as you are only having them in guidelines and drink plenty of other fluids thatโ€™s ok.

my sister has pots and is advised to have more salt.

Some nice news this morning. In autumn 2024, when I was off on long-term sick leave, my counsellor suggested I plant some pots of bulbs.

They came up last spring but it was quite dry (and then very warm and dry all summer) and I really thought it would all have died, permanently. I hid the pots with their brown leaves away round the side of the house.

But (and sorry you'll have to wait for the pic to load) I went out this morning to check on them and the pots are full of lovely green shoots. I wish I had a way to let my counsellor know that he was right, it WAS a gift to future me.i

Theyโ€™re doing awesome! I love bulbs. Iโ€™m so forgetful they are always a surprise.

Oioiqueen · 02/02/2026 14:36

@BodysBroken how old are your children? Mine are quite young so they don't know that mine is incurable. They know that I'll be always on treatment and that I have lots of hospital appointments. I however go to those so that I feel the best that I can but there will be times that I'll be poorly and have a spell in hospital.

We were recommended the butterfly collective I think it's called and what I'd seen online there is a lot there for different ages if that's of any help. Hope the charity helped give you some pointers.

JewelleryCat · 02/02/2026 14:39

Thatโ€™s lovely @VikingNorthUtsire ๐Ÿ™‚

BerfyTigot · 02/02/2026 15:02

I feel a bit of a fraud posting here these days. I have improved quite a bit recently and am able to do more.

Not that I'm running marathons or anything, but i have enough energy to cook and do some housework and take the dog out briefly a few times a week.

I do still have sofa days though, so maybe I've just got better at pacing?

And it may all go downhill suddenly, who knows.

I'm so sorry to hear that some of you are struggling with health problems- sending good vibes to everyone

FuzzyPuffling · 02/02/2026 15:29

Im just tired!
I've managed to make a cauliflower korma for tea ( should do two days) and a bit of pottering. That's quite enough!

Swanhilde · 02/02/2026 18:01

Late check in this evening. Work, home, egg and bacon sandwich and a couple of cups of tea ๐Ÿ˜Š

Catching up with Pottery Throwdown then bed ๐Ÿ˜ด

Have a restful evening all ๐Ÿ’•

Realisation14 · 02/02/2026 21:21

@BodysBroken I love the username. I did get back to sleep for another hour but it was filled with nightmares and I woke up shaking like a leaf (semi regular occurrence for me so nothing out of the ordinary). I'm sorry you have to have this conversation with your children, I honestly can't even begin to imagine being in your shoes without feeling consumed so I think you're doing wonderful with already feeling anxious acceptance towards it, they do say suffering is caused by fighting reality instead of accepting it. Easier said than done.

TeaAndStrumpets · 03/02/2026 10:20

Morning all!

Boring calm day here. I slept OK but still very jerky. Twitching eyelid has calmed down so hopefully the rest will follow! Our friend called in yesterday so we talked for hours but it was so nice to have a catch up. He and DH were at primary school together so a long history.

It's so dreary outside. I seem to recall a forecast for snow this month but no sign here.

FurForksSake · 03/02/2026 10:25

Morning! Very dreary here too. Iโ€™d adore some freezing but bright weather. Iโ€™m sick of it.

booked a bupa appointment for tomorrow to discuss gynae issues. One medical issue at a time!

TodayIsatrickyone · 03/02/2026 10:31

Morning all
Another grey drizzly day here too which doesnโ€™t make me feel very cheerful but slept well so going to aim for a bit of tidying this morning with lots of sofa time in between!

Hope the jerkiness settles @TeaAndStrumpets I get it occasionally in a flare and find it makes resting much harder. Glad you enjoyed seeing your old friend.

@BerfyTigot its great news youre improving anf feeling more stable. I love to hear that personally so absolutely keep posting!

TodayIsatrickyone · 03/02/2026 10:33

Hope you get some answers tomorrow @FurForksSake Iโ€™d much prefer bright and cold weather than damp and dreary which makes pain levels much worse.

FuzzyPuffling · 03/02/2026 10:35

Bad night's sleep, headache, foggy.
I'd better perk up as I'm on school run duty for my grandson this afternoon.
But surprisingly, the sun is out. Woo hoo!

Agreed damp and dreary is always disappointing, more like Autumn than Spring but not crisp enough!

@FurForksSake good luck for tomorrow. I put up with years of being fobbed off by the NHS and eventually saw a private gynae chap. I needed a hysterectomy, 13 month wait on NHS versus a few weeks going private. No brainer. Hope it's nothing as drastic for you but it will be good to get a proper opinion.

I feel as if my batteries have been removed. Too much chatting yesterday.

Sounds good. Recipe please....if you have any energy ; - )

I've been wiped out the last few days. I r been lurking but can't quite brain function enough to post.

But here I am... rambling incoherently in my lunch break. Hoping I make more sense for work ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I've had awful hives still. I swear I have MCAS. I also think I am am hyper mobile so wouldn't be surprised if I have Eds but they say all these things are rare so I don't feel like there's any point raising them with GP. I fear they just think I'm a hyperchondriac.

OP posts:
TodayIsatrickyone · 03/02/2026 13:10

Aw thatโ€™s a horrible feeling @TeaAndStrumpets Like you Iโ€™ve had this condition for many years and I still get taken by surprise by how โ€˜just chattingโ€™ can cause PEM. I think it gets me every time.

Sorry you're wiped out @MewithME I hope you can rest a bit after work today.

FuzzyPuffling · 03/02/2026 13:46

I don't really have a recipe, its a bit free form, but...
Fuzzy's Curry Special
Fry up an onion and garlic
Add a good handful of cauliflower florets (and mushrooms too, if you like)
Chuck in a cooked chopped chicken breast (or the remains of yesterday's roast).

Add some chicken stock and double cream.
Add two good spoons of ground almonds.

Curry it up..
I use mind curry powder, ground ginger and paprika...you do you!

It improves if you make it in the morning ( when I have more energy) and let it mature til teatime.

Serve with brown rice (for healthy, feelgood vibes)

FurForksSake · 03/02/2026 14:17

Iโ€™ve just been watering my succulents, then realised Iโ€™m cold and looked at the thermostat. Iโ€™m cold because itโ€™s 16 degrees in the house! I think Iโ€™m getting chilblains. I thought it was athletes foot so Iโ€™m treating jtllle that just in case. But I keep getting frozen toes so Iโ€™m wondering. Iโ€™ve popped the heating on.

Iโ€™ve been social today and now feel completely wiped out now and tired

@FurForksSake beautiful succulents and the vases ๐Ÿ™‚

TeaAndStrumpets · 03/02/2026 15:58

@FurForksSake I just went into my bedroom to get some thick socks....16.2 on the thermostat, and our heating has been on all day!

@JewelleryCat it's so frustrating!

Orangesandlemons77 · 03/02/2026 16:11

Quiet day here mainly been in bed with a hot water bottle.

Been listening to an interesting programmer on radio four about this hacking of lots of therapists notes in Finland. Pretty shocking really.

I like the curry recipe. Sounds good and healthy too.. I made a butternut squash curry at the weekend and sometimes do a mushroom one too.

Quite simple I just use these little spice pots. Add a bit of lemon juice and milk to the veg.
