I'm home from work. Not a bad day at all. In bed with a cuppa now. Will rest before making dinner. It's one of those where I feel quite energised by work but it's my body being an asshole and I'm actually overdoing it. Bloody adrenaline makes you think you're ok!

DD2 took her scrubby thing to her cleaning job today and it had a very gratifying result on the tiles in the kitchen. The lady of the house buys only Purdy and Figg so DD took some Bar Keepers Friend for her!

Glad work was not too bad.

Home from work and feeling blurgh ๐Ÿ˜•

My ear is still blocked but I'm more convinced it's on the inside. Googled decongestants along with my myriad of pills and the results were worrying so I called into the pharmacy on my way home. Pharmacist said they would be okay for a few days, but honestly he gave me more used car salesman vibes than pharmacist! Still I'll give them a go ...

In bed with a cuppa now, an omelette for tea. And catching up with the Pottery Throwdown later ๐Ÿ˜Š

Have a decongested evening everyone ๐Ÿ’•

Went out for a carvery for Sunday dinner with some family. I should have taken my wheelchair as it's a fair walk from the carpark to the door but I stupidly only took my stick and burned through all my spoons. The beef was worth it though.

It meant I slept for 13 hours and since I forgot to bring a drink to bed I'm now very dehydrated. Going to take it very easy today to recover. I have a giant slice of cake in the fridge I brought home from the restaurant so I have a nice treat to look forward to.

I follow a bunch of YouTubers who post quite infrequently and there has been barely anything to watch the last couple of weeks, but by coincidence 9 of them all posted yesterday while I was out. So I have a nice long list of new things to watch and relax to.

Oioiqueen · 26/01/2026 18:23

@FurForksSake ive had that with our GP surgery too. The receptionist told me it was a telephone call and it was actually face to face. I could have easily gone to the surgery to have it. Annoyingly I then had to wait another two weeks to see someone. I think I'd still have been diagnosed secondary without that two week wait but it still irks me now that I was in quite a bit of pain looking back.

FurForksSake · 26/01/2026 18:26

@Oioiqueen thatโ€™s terrible, what a waste of time.

@Oioiqueen thatโ€™s terrible, what a waste of time.

I know. I've never missed a medical appointment ever. I'm quite good at writing them down when I get them and adding reminders etc. So for a miscommunication their end I felt absolutely awful at the wasted appointment. The nurse texted me that evening with a link should I needed to take it further so thankfully I could book another appointment there and then.

FurForksSake · 26/01/2026 18:43

DH got a message before Christmas telling him off for not attending and threatening to de list him. Before his appointment time. Turned out the doctor was sick and someone was cancelling the appointments but sending out / clicking the wrong button!

I need to do an e consult tomorrow for them to look at the lump on my cervix. I had an appointment months ago but they cancelled and then I had to cancel and then I had surgery.

TeaAndStrumpets · 26/01/2026 20:47

@FurForksSake what a catalogue of errors.

Baffled by an e-consult for a lump anywhere, never mind on the cervix!

FurForksSake · 26/01/2026 20:58

Ah! An e consult here is just the request for an appointment. I wonโ€™t be photographing my chuff and emailing it to the doctor!

I smashed a plate and hurt my finger at dinner. Is that my three??

TeaAndStrumpets · 27/01/2026 07:56

Morning all!

My run of good sleep came to an end so I was up a few hours from 1am. IBS pain has been annoying so the hot water bottle will be my friend today.

Now up ready for the gas engineer, just a boiler service.

It was very windy last night, rather gloomy weather today.

Hope you all have a warm restful day.

FuzzyPuffling · 27/01/2026 08:21

Hello all,
I slept quite well ( yay!) but was woken at 6am by some oik reversing his large van all the way down our road with the reversing beeper on. Obviously too stupid to see the "No through road" signs. Grr.

Storm Chandra brought a lot of flooding round here - Dartmoor had 4" ofvrain overnight.

MewithME · 27/01/2026 08:50

Morning all. Crappy sleep here with the wind and rain battering the windows. We are high up so it's a bit rowdy when it's windy. Such a struggle to get up and do the school run but back at home and WFH today. Phew.

Hope we don't have floods tomorrow. I live in an area that is always flooded which makes getting to work very tricky.

Morning all!

Another good sleep, palpitations on waking but dying down now. Will try for a calm day.

Sounds good apart from the toothache @Realisation14 hope you get sorted. Is flexi schooling the same as home schooling? Pardon my ignorance! My autistic grandson has tutors at home because he is so anxious about school. They have been wonderful and gently coaxed him back into learning. At the moment he is revising for gcses and will take them at home with an invigilator.

I hope your palpitations died down quickly for you! Flexi-schooling is where he goes to school part time (1hr per day) and I home educate him the rest of the time with support from the school (they provide most of the work). My son has autism, PTSD, separation anxiety, coeliacs disease and vasovagal syncope so he finds things REALLY difficult.

Realisation14 · 27/01/2026 09:13

Barely slept because of the storm here. It's like it's on steroids. In a fair amount of pain already this morning ๐Ÿ˜”

That is a lot! I think I remember about the fainting, I imagine that is a constant background concern. Hopefully he is keeping up his school friendships by being in school albeit briefly.

My DGS is desperately lonely at home all day but couldn't endure being even near his school, it brought on such anxiety. He has decided college will be a fresh start and is doing everything he can to get the entry grades. There is excellent special needs support and he is going in for some taster days. All hopeful so far.

DD is hoping to get a better job once he's at college . At the moment she has several flexible cleaning and admin jobs because she needs to be home so much.

Stressybetty · 27/01/2026 11:03

Morning all, very windy and rainy here too and cold. The wind always makes me anxious that something will come off the roof or whatever.
Slept but lots of weird dreams.
Felt a bit ashamed yesterday of being so scruffy and thought if I needed to go into work say if laptop broke I wouldn't be ready. Had a shower last night, cut nails etc, clean clothes today. Have booked hair appointment for Thurs and will buy more hairdye. Have let myself go.
Have tidied utility room and gradually going to clean it and work my way up the house. Will do it slowly with DH help and de clutter at same time.
Think that will make me feel better about the whole landlord house situation.
Hope everyone has a good day

FurForksSake · 27/01/2026 11:42

Morning all! Weather is wet here but not hairy. Ds1 did get a lift in as his friend wasnโ€™t cycling.

Iโ€™ve just done 15 minutes on my exercise bike and nearly fell down the stairs afterwards as my legs were numb. But I did it.

Iโ€™ve started watching lyndley and that is quite interesting. Detective drama.

TeaAndStrumpets · 27/01/2026 11:42

Well done @Stressybetty you have a plan! You will feel much better if you have a cut and colour. Even though my home done bob isn't exactly perfect it's been a real boost. It was so much easier to always tie back my long hair but it never looked smart. One thing I've taken to doing after much clothes decluttering is keep a coordinated outfit on one hanger eg top trousers even the right bra and pants. Then I don't have to stand there rummaging if I need to get up and go.

TeaAndStrumpets · 27/01/2026 11:52

@FurForksSake I've been tempted to read the books as I like a long running series! I think there was a previous adaptation but it never appealed for some reason. I'd be interested to see reviews of the new one

We've been watching A Spy Among Friends on ITVX with Anna Maxwell Martin as the M15 investigator. I always enjoy her performances. The dreary 1960s are very well done, you can almost smell the coal fires and cigarettes!

Oioiqueen · 27/01/2026 11:57

@TeaAndStrumpets ive always had long hair since starting secondary school I think. It was always ridiculously thick and I scraped it back as it would do my head in. Its wonderful it now being short even if it is falling out from chemo. I've decided if I'm moved onto something none chemo related then I'm going to keep it short. It's so much less faff and one less thing to have to do when fatigued.

I do feel a little more self conscious though. Breast cancer took my breasts without reconstruction and secondary has taken my hair. I am very conscious that I could easily be mistaken for a man at the moment as I don't have a particularly feminine face.
