Anyone on their own tonight?

TheSparklyShoe · 31/12/2025 16:03

Just me tonight and my youngest (non verbal/ASD) Looking back at photos of this time last year where me, DH and both kids had a buffet and we all watched films together. Now we are separated and it’s just me and DS.

Just went for a long walk in the woods with DS, he had an ice cream 🥶 and tonight I’ll watch the BBC Christmas ghost story and eat party food! I’ll probably be in bed at 10 😴

What is everyone else doing?

I'm usually on my own. I don't celebrate NYE

But tonight my daughter is here and is making me an "afternoon tea" for dinner. All the trimmings. 🥰

That sounds lovely 🥰 I love an afternoon tea . Sounds like a perfect New Year’s Eve.

Me. Small child here but is profoundly disabled, non-verbal and not feeling 100% I don't think so tonight will be a sober, on-my-toes affair, I will be up at midnight to swap his feed bottle over and give him his midnight meds though I really know how to party

Happy 2026 one and all.

alrady NY whet i,am... hic

:-)

Not alone, but sat alone because NY is not really a thing here. Sat watching Great Expectations on tablet, MIL, wife and DD all went to bed usual.

But I did pop in to say Happy new year, to DD (13), and she is sat messaging hers pals Happy New Year. Even though its officially frowned upon.

Have a good one :-)

Sending hugs. It’s not easy on your own with a disabled child. Hope 2026 bring you peace and comfort xx

I'm on my own. I usually go to my mum's, but my sister is there, and we had a nasty falling out recently. I'd rather not be around her atm, she is toxic and bad for my mental health.

DD is also away, so I have her dogs and cannot leave them. They'll bark at the fireworks, which will trigger the neighbours to bark and start a never-ending cycle of barking until someone tells them to stfu.

I could take them to my mum's, but one is not a dog; he is a vessel for evil. He will bite the children and elderly guests and fight with the other dogs. He's a chihuahua, so he can't cause any damage, even though he wants to, but that's not really the point.

I plan on getting a nice bottle of bubbly, watching a movie, and then going into the garden to watch the fireworks with Big Dog, who is oddly fascinated by fireworks.

WWLD · 31/12/2025 16:50

Me, and while I'd normally be quite looking forward to a random assortment of party foods and chocolate, I think I've accidentally consumed either gluten or lactose (lactose intolerant coeliac)at Costa earlier. I recognise the nauseous, poisoned feeling.

BurntBroccoli · 31/12/2025 16:54

Yes I’m on my own as DS is out at a friends house party. I’ll be picking him up in the early hours! Until then I’m going to watch the next four Stranger Things episodes with some nice snacks.

Belladog1 · 31/12/2025 17:00

Yes, I'm on my own with my 2 dogs. I dont mind really. I have some wine and snacks .... and I'm sure I'll feel a little sad at midnight when I dont have anyone to kiss.

Eileen101 · 31/12/2025 17:01

Yes. Small DCs are with their dad. I am at home on my own, unlikely to still be awake at midnight. In recent years, I have only been awake at midnight if up feeding a child or otherwise resettling them.

Have been working today, although still a little to get done. Made a healthy soup in the Croc pot earlier. Shame that a Chinese takeaway is vastly more appealing right now.

Have the takeaway and enjoy your soup tomorrow? 😋

I like the way you think!

GasperyJacquesRoberts · 31/12/2025 17:14

I'm on my own too. My DCs are grown up and moved out some time ago. I saw them lots over Christmas which was genuinely delightful as they're both awesome. Quite how I managed to produce such fantastic young people remains something of a mystery.

I've now got the place to myself with a nicely chilled bottle of Chablis and some nibbles. I'm content. Life is good.

TheFormidableMrsC · 31/12/2025 17:15

I have my first NYE alone in 27 years. I can hardly believe it. I could have gone out but decided to stay at home. I’ve got snacks and wine. My son is 14 but has AuDHD so I’ve always been at home with him. I never had babysitters when my eldest was little (she’s 27). Son was invited to a sleepover and I really encouraged him to go. It’ll do him good…and me. Happy New Year all!

I love your portrait of your dogs!

Ahsheeit · 31/12/2025 17:19

Yup, me and the cat. I have wine, pizza and chocolate and am perfectly content to be on my own.

dontforgetme · 31/12/2025 17:20

I’m not on my own but feeling it due to how low I’m feeling. Isn’t it crazy how in a room full of people you can feel more alone than ever.

Happy new year all. Let’s hope 2026 brings us some joy and happiness.

HappiestSleeping · 31/12/2025 17:22

I am on my own. Wife died earlier this year, dog died earlier this month.

I met wife late in life, so lived on my own for 27 years before we moved in together. So, in a way, being on my own is fine. Doesn't bother me, and in some ways, I prefer it. That said, I wish both she, and the dog were here, as they were the only people I would want to share it with. I have gin and tonic, and am about to cook dinner, watch some shit film, and probably be in bed by 10pm.

Happy New Year to you all.

Rainbowcat77 · 31/12/2025 17:23

Technically no because my teen ds is has a friend round overnight but practically yes because they’re far too cool to celebrate NYE with me.
I don’t really mind though, I don’t really like NYE and will probably enjoy being at home more than the party I had planned to go to.

Frequency · 31/12/2025 17:25

This is the evil one, the fluffy one. I genuinely do not understand how something so cute and innocent-looking can be so evil, but he is demonic.

Anyone on their own tonight?
ILoveYouJefferyS · 31/12/2025 17:29

I'm on my own and don't mind at all.. l could go to either daughters and be with them and Grandkids.. but l took a big fall yesterday on an escalator and got some awful bruises and a sore body... plus l want to be with my cat for when the fireworks start.
Got a chili in my slow cooker and I've just been laid in bed watching telly and knitting a wooly headband for myself.
Im looking forward to watching Ronan Keating tonight.. he's got some great guests on.
Happy New Year everyone.
