What are you by going to watch at 2am and can’t sleep when Friends leaves Netflix tomorrow??

this is not a thread if you don’t like friends or not! 😂
Friends has always been a go to of mine when I wake up in the night and can’t sleep. I pop it on and it blocks out any “chatter” in my head and I can normally go back to sleep again. Or if I wake in the night not feeling well with my IBS, I pop it on to focus on to remove the anxiety. What on earth am I going to listen to when it goes from Netflix tomorrow??? White noise like rain etc doesn’t work. I need something that I don’t need to focus on. Although I did look and you can buy friends on Amazon prime, so might have to resort to that!!

It'll be back. They keep taking shameless off and then it's back again. Fear not.

I really hope so!

Nocameltoeleggingsplease · 29/12/2025 22:10

Friends is on channel 5 so will be on whatever their streaming service is called.

GooseOnMyGrave · 29/12/2025 22:10

I’ve been fretting about this too. Thankfully I still have my Friends box set from years ago. Just need to persuade my husband to get a dvd player and tv for the bedroom now.
I’ve been using Friends as my anxiety / insomnia crutch for as long as I can remember, but have got used to streaming it on my phone with the sound low.
Sex and the City also works for me, but that’s on Now Tv, so another subscription.

It's on Disney plus.

I usually put on a podcast - not a chatty busy one but something relaxing - for some reason they always make me nod off!

Addybee · 29/12/2025 23:46

Get yourself Pluto tv- free streaming.

i currently fall asleep to either Sabrina the teenage witch or sister sister

Ihaveneedofwaternear · 30/12/2025 00:03

I love this too. Loads of it and really relaxing.

CookingFatCat · 30/12/2025 00:46

It leaves tomorrow 😱

somanychristmaslights · 30/12/2025 18:46

I’m glad it’s not just me!! I assume it’ll be gone at midnight tonight. 😩
so on my list of alternatives is Red dwarf, Harry Potter, the Simpsons and family guy. Stuff I’ve seen a million times before so hopefully the familiar sounds will have the same effect and I’ll fall back to sleep. And if that doesn’t work, DH has Amazon prime so I’ll download the app onto my phone and I’ll buy Friends, even just season 1 should be enough!

Gilmore girls is quite a good one to keep watching. Not the same though, I know.

liveforsummer · 30/12/2025 22:06

Dd is considering staying up til midnight watching to see what happens. We have an early start tomorrow though. Simpson’s could be an ok alternative if watching the older series. I think there are lots of newer ones I’ve not seen. I had thought of sex and the city as a pp suffered but not sure where it’s easy to watch it all these days

Clementine12 · 30/12/2025 22:26

It’s constantly on Comedy Central. Do you have a. Recording device?

bridezillaincoming · 30/12/2025 22:57

Seinfeld

Nomplemome · 30/12/2025 23:00

You may want to try listening to something instead of watching something it is so much better to help you get back to sleep. Try bbc sounds and explore all the different speech programmmes on there. Honestly so much better than watching something once you find a thing you like to listen to!

MenopauseSucks · 31/12/2025 00:41

Just watched the first & last episodes…. Can I be any more maudlin?
I remember when the series was first aired on terrestrial. I was around the same age. I’ve got the pre-Smart TV DVD box set so all is not lost!

MaggieBsBoat · 31/12/2025 00:51

The ideal would be Will & Grace I think. Gloria‘s screeching in Modern Family prevents it from being an insomnia cure sadly.

FerrisWheelsandLilacs · 31/12/2025 00:53

You lot are my husbands people. I HATE a rewatch but one of the following is always, like constantly, on in our house as background noise:

Big Bang Theory
Young Sheldon
Royle Family
Red Dwarf
House
Schitt’s Creek
Modern Family

GooseOnMyGrave · 31/12/2025 01:23

It’s gone. ☹️

JaneJeffer · 31/12/2025 03:09

Just started Younger - 22 minute episodes and it’s brilliant absorbing and funny so perfect for a swift brain reset!
