Does anyone still support this Labour government?

PutTheCakeDOWN · 28/12/2025 12:24

I know NO ONE in real life who still sticks up for them (apart from my mother, and she would support Labour even if KS owned up to creating Covid). Apart from that, all quiet on the western front.

I haven’t seen any support on here, or SM for weeks now.

Is it my algorithm bubble, or are people genuinely disappointed with them? I don’t think it can be the algorithms though, as until a few weeks ago there were still words of support popping up.

For full disclosure I think this government is a total shitshow intent on dismantling British culture, and taxing the private sector to death in order to pay for the public sector. With no long term plan once the private sector is squeezed totally dry. I am BEYOND disappointed with them.

Nope, no one. Not the rich nor the poor, nor even those in the middle. No one !!

I just think it says a lot about a person

Like what?

l know no one who can operate a cement mixer or mend a car.

Do you expect a car mechanic to be a prime minister?

Yet you don’t get to speak for all of them.

Oh but don’t you know? The left on mn think they do. As you can see in this thread.

The point I think is that, whilst a person may not have experience changing wiper blades for example, a competent dynamic person could soon work it out, get it done and move onto the next task.

You don’t get that impression with this lot.

You are trying to though, aren’t you? Your opinion is no more valid, and in my experience (I have taught in both state and private) your experience is unusual at best.

I'd have a bet with you that someone with some basic life experience and skills could do a better job of running the country then anyone we've had for 30+ years

Whenever I mention anything about farming, at least one poster pops up disagreeing with everything and then claiming, like a total mic drop ‘but I am farmer TOO.’
It’s almost always obvious BS but I’ve noticed it so much lately.

I’ve never had that impression with any government.

Rheese-Mogg, Truss, Rishi? I don’t think any of them would ever deign to operate a cement mixer.

No I’m not. I don’t like Labour. I think the damage they have done to education is unforgivable. If people don’t agree with me, I don’t care. I know what my livedexperience is and that’s that. I’m not in to belittling people and upsetting them about their lived experience.

But we all have to believe you are a farmer and that your opinion is therefore correct?
I’m retired now, but I’ve been a teacher for 35 years in both state and private schools. I’m not making it up, as I assume you aren’t.

Always the same posters as well.

If it’s the same posters, isn’t it likely they are, in fact, farmers, teachers or whatever they say? If they say it on every thread?

PutTheCakeDOWN · 28/12/2025 22:12

Right I’ve had enough of this for tonight 🤣

I would say so before more regular names turn up to have a go at you for daring to not like Labour on MN 🥱

I do.
They have actually improved things a lot in the 18 months they have been on office ..
Of course they are not perfect and they get a lot of negative press because they are Labour. It was ever this sadly. But the alternative would have been a lot worse

Same, and I agree with what you say.

Sesma · 28/12/2025 22:18

No, but then I never did

TheJustJoker · 28/12/2025 22:23

Yes.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 28/12/2025 22:25

I'm disappointed they haven't done more especially with their majority. However, no one is giving them any credit the good things they've done such as extra funding for the NHS, better childcare funding, free school meals, breakfast clubs, removing two child benefit cap, raising minimum wage etc etc. Keir Starmer is also very well respected abroad as compared to Johnson et al. They're just shit at 'politics'

Piggywaspushed · 28/12/2025 22:33

CalmShaker · 28/12/2025 21:45

The reason I don't like this government?
I don't think the prime minister is a strong leader, he comes across as an undecided, flip flop guy who couldn't put a tent up. And there's not a single member of the party who I can think would do a better job.

Seriously, ask yourself if Keir could do any basic car maintenance or general DIY. That to me speaks volumes. The thought of him using a cement mixer is laughable

I believe it was Sunak who couldn't fill a car with petrol or use a card reader...

Terrible isn't it :(
I honestly don't think there's been a leader in the last 30 years who's had a bit of savvy about them

PermanentTemporary · 28/12/2025 22:38

I don’t see any reason why Keir Starmer wouldn’t be able to change wiper blades on a car, though I hope as Prime Minister he would spend his time doing other things. He’s a normal person who’s also done senior jobs. I’m not certain Maggie Thatcher would have been able to change wiper blades, but no doubt many on this thread would consider her an effective leader. This thread is becoming bizarre. Do people really choose who to vote for based on nonsense like this?

There are some really good ministers in this government, Shabana Mahmood, Yvette Cooper, Wes Streeting etc. I still can’t really believe we’ve got some useful people in post for a decent length of time after the humiliations of recent years. Rees-Mogg, Truss, Raab, getting decent ministers thrown out after 5 minutes because Dominic Cummings didn’t like them. God.

Youmeanyouvelostyourkey · 28/12/2025 22:41

Regardless of party, there is a distinct lack of suitable, honest, competent politicians who are able to run a govt. Of course, there are some good politicians but they never make the top jobs and we all suffer as the post holders for top jobs just fail, move on and get paid for the privilege. Rather than career politicians, we would be far better off with experts in the respective fields

I hope Shabana Mahmood can make more impact as Home Secretary than Yvette Cooper. I was really disappointed in her. I agree Wes Streeting looks to be a safe pair of hands but the 'etc' you refer to - who are they? I can't identify them?

So you're disregarding my previous posts just because you don't want to believe I am from a farming family?

You haven't actually managed to come back with any evidence to back up your original assertions except for an anecdote about some local people spending a tenner to watch some exceptionally privileged people ride some horses with some very well trained dogs.
