In trouble at work- over a quiche

Good morning

So on Friday we had a little gathering in the office at work. We all agreed to take in various food items and my contribution was quiches and sausage rolls.

so I took four quiches. At the end of the gathering there was one whole quiche left unopened.we agreed that we’d just share out the untouched food

I said that I’d just take the unopened quiche as we would eat it at home. In then comes Patricia, an older woman who I generally find quite difficult to work with. She’s self opinionated and knows everything. I generally try hard to get on with her but she’s a massive PITA. So she said something along the lines of “ you can’t just take the quiche until we’ve discussed who’s taking what” . I explained that I wasn’t to fussed about any of it and that she could just take the quiche, she carried on with her chuntering and huffing and puffing at me. So this is where it went pear shaped, I just snapped and shouted- “ just take the cunting quiche, Patricia”

it’s all kicked off and I have a HR meeting tomorrow regarding my foul language!!!!

Ahh I missed those predictable posts.

Now being defined as a "hero".

The OP behaved like a gobby show off and having set the fangirls off hasn't even returned to the thread.

ThatCyanCat · 21/12/2025 15:22

Just Take The Cunting Quiche Patricia is a great username.

OrangeAxolotyl · 21/12/2025 15:23

I think she jumped the quiche.

tipsyraven · 21/12/2025 15:29

Patricia sounds annoying but what has her age got to do with anything?

ChocolateCinderToffee · 21/12/2025 15:30

May I officially name this thread ‘Quichegate’?

Joeninety · 21/12/2025 15:42

Had a ham cheese and mushroom quiche, but never one of those. What do they taste like ?

Ilovesunshine22 · 21/12/2025 15:52

Im sorry but this is hillairous 😂
Of course totally inapropriate language in a work place but gosh its tickled me what a line!
My sons guniea pig is called Patricia wich is making it more funny for me.
"Just take the c###ing quiche Patricia"

cantbearsed27 · 21/12/2025 15:53

Tell HR that you called the quiche a cunt NOT Patricia so you're not quite sure what the issue is as the quiche was not offended.

Coffeandtoast · 21/12/2025 15:55

OMG I’ve just seen the responses. I’ve been out all day and hadn’t looked! Seems that I f created quite a stir! I do know that I shouldn’t have used the C word, but she just boils my fucking piss

I know quite a few 50 something Tricias - definitely not in their 80s

Charlize43 · 21/12/2025 15:59

Just tell HR you have Tourettes or one of the many alphabet diseases, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, ASD, PMT, KFC... teens used to play the mental health card all the time in my old job...

To those who can’t see how ageist this is try replacing the word ‘older’ with ‘black’.

‘In then comes Patricia, a black woman who I generally find quite difficult to work with. She’s self opinionated and knows everything.’

What does ‘older’ achieve here other than a signal to show much they despise them and their opinions mainly or even solely because they are older, and expecting everyone to nod along with that assessment as correct. As, rather disappointingly, people on the thread seem to have done.

‘Patricia’ sounds a bit fussy perhaps but I’d take anything OP says with a pinch of salt given her poor judgment in what she said.

If she'd said 'one of the younger women' would that have been offensive too? Or is it only offensive to say someone's older? She didn't even say old, just older.

Honestly isn't it just boring to pick posts apart like this? And I say that as someone 'older'.

If you can’t see the difference between ageism and racism then I don’t know what to say to you. OP mentioned that Patricia is older because it’s relevant. How many people on this thread have posted that they know a Patricia. In my own experience, I’ve known quite a few. They are always older, and think age gives them the right to throw their weight about in the name of wisdom. The description is warranted in many cases, as opposed to the stereotyping of black people, and absolutely not the same kind of discrimination that black people experience. That you think it comparable is offensive in itself.

Poodlelove · 21/12/2025 16:07

I am having * quiche for tea.

Shedeboodinia · 21/12/2025 16:08

You called the quiche a cunt, not Patricia. I would apologise and say you are stressed over Christmas or something in a bid to clear the air.
I might also add that you had said she can have the quiche several times but that she kept making it into a bigger and more stressful conversation. I would suggest that Patricia is offered some sort of training in how to deal sharing a quiche.

If you can get through the meal without laughing, you’re a star !!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 21/12/2025 16:09

But you aren't in trouble 'over a quiche', are you? You're in trouble because of aggressive behaviour and foul language.

I suffer from ptsd. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I know your post wasn't meant to be serious but it's not an "alphabet disease" - it's horrible and debilitating

Moonstone20 · 21/12/2025 16:14

@rosscameasdoodyyes that’s right, older women should STFU and people are quite right to have merrily come along on the thread and say she’s probably a cunt and they know older women who are cunts just like her, who deserve to be shouted and sworn at at work.

NoisyMonster678 · 21/12/2025 16:22

Just tell HR that she is always goading you and you did what any normal person would do under duress.

Tell them this has ben a long time since she has been behaving like this and that you just snapped.

Like you said in your post, you tried not to let her push you and you are not the only one at fault here and that morticia should take her fare share of the trouble she has caused......she really does sound like a PITA OP.

Don't take the flack alone

She'd better have good evidence of the goading. Not just that Patricia's an older person and the OP is irritated.

@Rosscameasdoody

you do sound a bit like someone who thinks the name Karen is ok to use as a derogatory slur to encourage women of a certain age to stfu, in fairness.
