There are so many creeps who do the whole "hiding in plain sight" thing (Savile, Jackson, Brand...)

Gawd that sounds totally how I'd expect him to be. TBF though all articles from NOTW have pretty much vanished, I'm not sure it's fully down to him suppressing it. But yeah he's so arrogant and vile. I think he has quite a severe personality disorder and almost seems like he could be dangerous.

I feel so sorry for his kid.

Ive said this before on here. A lot of TV types are awful. I used to know socially a very well known actor who is really loved and has a public profile as a terrific guy. Im making no suggestion of anything sexually creepy or dangerous. It wasnt anything like that. But just that he was absolutely horrible in real life and not remotely like his public self. Im not going to.name him but he' s sneery and sarky and totally 2 faced, and only interested in people who can do something for his career. But you'd think he was amazing from his TV work and appearances. Everybody loves him. You just cant tell what someone's really like in the entertainment industry!!

Reachingforthesun · 20/12/2025 00:48

Not surprised, what I am surprised at is how he remains popular and his books keep selling. Hopefully not anymore. He is the most vile horrible looking wrong un. Just makes my skin crawl.

I was never convinced by the charity swims. Always thought they were to throw people off the scent....but the scent of what, I didnt know.

I just wonder if maybe he was just always a bit of a weirdo and he tried to cover it up by being either smutty or by camping it up. Maybe he thought if people were drawn to the fact he was being camp or near the mark then maybe they wouldnt notice he was actually just weird and awkward.

Remember the character he played who was sleazing and letching on the frail, elderly grandmother in front of her whole family? And in the sketches she was giving him the glad eye? It was both revolting and horribly fascinating, and I always wondered just what he is actually turned on by.

I don't want to know, to be clear! But again, people do show us who they are all the time.

I wonder how much he believed in the phrase "Bring your whole self to work" 😔

Call me stupid but i was surprised about rolf harris. Savile no. He was so obviously a vile creep. Was a bit surprised by hugh( huw ? ) edwards as well.

I was surprised by Rolf Harris too. That one really upset me 🙁 and by Hugh the newsreader. Not so much Philip Schofield, Jimmy Saville or David Walliams

Yes .

The bloody BBC needs closing down. How they have the audacity to campaign for children in need is beyond me.

We've been gifted DW books and I put them straight out to charity as I'd heard how awfully women are portrayed.

I know Dahl isn't great on that front either but at least I could explain to DC that they were from a different time and at least Dahl has some great girl protagonists.

Dahl had some problematic views and some of his stories have dated. But he was a masterful storyteller and he captured my imagination as a child like few other authors. His stories general have a strong moral core and there are some all-time great female protagonists like Matilda.

I’ve admittedly not spent much time with Walliams work but what I have read is just lame, puerile nonsense that complete misses what makes Dahl’s books still treasured.

Babelmabel · 20/12/2025 01:39

He did the trouser pulling down thing on Mark Ronson at a charity do. It was awful - the crowd went silent as it went on as Walliams took it too far. It was abuse in plain sight - as he was in ‘character’.

Hadnt thought about this before ...i mean the covert, sleazy stuff you can fathom because thats how abusers operate.......but to do that in front of everyone..... im thinking now maybe he is actually a bit nuts ?

@Sinittaadancers How did you find that ?? Thanks for sharing

You can get the thread title corrected. Report it to MNHQ and ask them.

I really don’t think she needs to bother. Everyone knows who she means 🙄

Yes. This is also pretty Savile-like. The sexual ambiguity. The much-publicised charity efforts. The hiding in plain sight.

His publisher are not being particularly heroic, imo. They're being pragmatic, knowing which way the wind of public opinion will shortly blow.

As a comedian he's usually favoured two approaches - playing an inherently unlikeable character, and "going a bit too far".

There's nothing inherently wrong with that strategy, which has a long pedigree. There have been other comedians - the late Rik Mayall, for example - who were even more entrenched in that vein and who remain much-loved.

Admittedly with Walliams there has been a lot of confusion as to where the character ends and the real fellow begins, which may well reflect something basically problematic about the man himself.

Certainly so if these sexual harassment claims are true, which they presumably are.

Robogob · 20/12/2025 02:47

He has the air of evil about him. He has this dead eyed lasciviousness that is utterly repellent.

Eesha · 20/12/2025 04:28

Eesha · 19/12/2025 23:07

I complained about his books very early on at my school and flagged the bullying style so they pulled it off the reading lists. What i always found weird was Lara Stone walking in on him and filing for divorce. I thought she must have seen something pretty bad.

Also, this week was the first time he had mentioned his son. I had just assumed he doesnt get to see him then suddenly a story making it seem like hes a lonely hands on dad.

Muffinmam · 20/12/2025 04:33

NCearlymitford · 19/12/2025 17:25

It's always the ones you least expect

It sounds like people expected this because he’s been doing it for years.

I knew (only from reading mumsnet) that he had a history.

I’m not surprised.

WitchsTit · 20/12/2025 05:28

Never liked him, he’s just grim, but hoped I was being unreasonable.
But its stuck in my mind that everywhere he goes he has this apparent need to dominate and humiliate with sexual behaviour. Even on League of their Own, where the other contestants aren’t obviously vulnerable types, he was queer baiting and essentially assaulting the presenters (Jack Whitehall I think was one of them) whilst they went along with it whilst seeming very awkward and uncomfortable - for laughs, presumably.
And his books are total rubbish.
His poor child.

TurquoiseDress · 20/12/2025 05:39

Yes I recall a couple of recent articles in the DM, I’ve read previously that when there is something big brewing about somebody well known but they cannot report any details, they run a few articles hinting/suggesting but never coming right out with it!

Eesha · 20/12/2025 05:48

im interested in how hes Iawyered up though, who else out there is very litigous? Simon is very savvy and appears to have washed his hands off him.

CalzoneOnLegs · 20/12/2025 06:01

As said previously on thread, Little Britain was awful, they humiliated people with mental and physical disabilities - and got away with it and it was not that long ago. I think that proves they are not good comedy writers but basic nasty bullies. And made a fortune from it and his books.

ETA I’ve just remembered the breast feeding adult man, very disturbing.

Easytoconfuse · 20/12/2025 06:10

PodMom · 19/12/2025 17:14

I think something quite big is about to come out against him….like some sort of police charge. The daily mail have been running some odd pieces about him recently, along the lines of his lonely life/xmas. Which is an unusual story for someone pretty much not in the public eye now. Really emphasising how Simon Cowell no longer follows him on social media. They sometimes do this when they know something else is brewing but cant yet break the story.

It's even odder given that he's taken the kid on holiday already, and like most divorced parents, they take it in turns to have Christmas with him. So why the pity party?

rainbow231 · 20/12/2025 06:11

‘ETA I’ve just remembered the breast feeding adult man, very disturbing’

And did so much culturally toward making people feel that there is something disturbing about breast feeding.

As others have said, truly odious man.
