Took the tag off a clothing item by snapping the kimble tag. Can I reattach? How?

I bought a new coat.

I removed the price tag by snapping the kimble tag (the plastic thing that attached the price tag to the item).

But now I want to return the coat.

How can I fudge reattaching the price tag?

I still have both halves of the kimble tag. I don't think I can superglue them together because the surface area is so tiny.

Any other suggestions?

I don't fancy chancing my arm returning it with the price tag separate in case they say "no".

What are the chances of getting a refund if I do this, do you reckon? It's Primark.

I've worn the coat once for an hour at the pub. It doesn't look or smell worn.

that’s pure cheeky fucker behaviour and I hope no one helps you

I would not want to buy the coat that you wore to the pub and then returned

I once accidentally bought a coat that had clearly been worn around taken on at least one half hour bus journey and back got some pick n mix I can’t remember the dates and returned to John Lewis, I asked for a fresh one which they provided

diamondsandrose · 16/12/2025 19:24

My Nan bought a coat once from M&S and found a bus ticket in the pocket !

OP did you take the bus to the pub ( one stop away of course )

Alpacajigsaw · 16/12/2025 19:26

You’re a CF.

Stick it on Vinted

tooyoungtoopretty · 16/12/2025 19:48

People assume that things they return get resold. Most of the time, it doesn’t. It ends up in a landfill. It is well documented. For this reason I never return things and only buy what I’m sure I will need.

This is hilarious - no member of staff at Primark is gonna quibble with you. If you have the receipt and purchased it less than 28 days ago, then you are entitled to a refund. There isn't a law to say the label must stay attached!

Well it’s certainly not the law that you’re entitled to a refund simply because you change your mind.

And stores allowing it is nothing more than a gesture of goodwill. So if you want the store to honour that gesture, you need to comply with their policy, which is usually tags attached and unworn.

Rainydayinlondon · 16/12/2025 20:06

You wore it, it was presumably draped over a chair on the dirty floor.

Shops aren't a lending facility!

Catsinaflat · 16/12/2025 20:08

I once reattached a tag I had cut off by holding the ends together and putting a birthday cake candle quickly under the join. It melted it together again - you have to be very quick...

MY son did this with school trousers before checking they fit. M&S took it back no problem.

That’s M&S though. Op is talking about primark. Very different customer service…

FoxLoxInSox · 16/12/2025 20:12

OP - you are expecting another woman to pay to unwittingly own your pre-worn coat.

Would you be happy to pay full price to unwittingly buy another woman’s pre-worn coat? No? Thought not.

HTH.

TadpolesInPool · 16/12/2025 20:17

My mum's friend bought a pair of trousers in M and S once. When she got home she found a 20 pound note in the pocket 😄

Livpool · 16/12/2025 20:19

You wore it so you can’t take it back. That’s bad

ladyamy · 16/12/2025 22:15

I didn’t read the full thread, my fault. I didn’t realised you had worn it out. Please do not attempt to return it.

Shops are a real pain about this. I tried to return underwear as it became uncomfortable halfway through my marathon but they refused even when I kicked up a fuss.

You tried to return underwear!? Please tell
me this is a joke. And what exactly happened when you ‘kicked up a fuss’!

What? Wore them to the pub for an hour 🤣

Gowlett · 17/12/2025 08:14

Absolutely fine to bring this back to Primark.
Just bring the tag & receipt. The take stuff back all day long.
Different if was a nice boutique…

It's a joke. She's making a point about people who treat shops as a free loan service.

I bet they are! There was a woman on an other thread who bought an outfit to wear to an interview and returned it the next day! Massive CF. When she was called out on it she said "I only wore it to an interview" 🙄

When I worked in Debenhams someone returned a suit bought in 2003. It was 2014 at the time 😂 God knows why my manager took it.

Oh my god! Some nerve.

I ordered a top from Next, really nice when I pulled it out of the bag it smelt so strongly of BO. It had the tags still on it though. I returned it without even trying it on as I didn’t want to wear a top that had clearly been worn by someone else!

Even though she wore it to the pub? Apparently.
Do you have a hierarchy of shops that it’s ok to rip off?

My screen name is my job.
Please don’t return the coat.
How would you feel about buying what is effectively now a used item of clothing.
I wouldn’t accept it back.

OP doesnt care or they would not have started this thread

How exactly would it be different? The way some people’s minds work is a constant mystery to me.

IsoldeWagner · 16/12/2025 15:07

Right, so when you buy something new, you don't care if it's pre worn?

No, because I don't buy from primark.
