Took the tag off a clothing item by snapping the kimble tag. Can I reattach? How?

PowerPuffGirdle · 16/12/2025 11:52

I bought a new coat.

I removed the price tag by snapping the kimble tag (the plastic thing that attached the price tag to the item).

But now I want to return the coat.

How can I fudge reattaching the price tag?

I still have both halves of the kimble tag. I don't think I can superglue them together because the surface area is so tiny.

Any other suggestions?

I don't fancy chancing my arm returning it with the price tag separate in case they say "no".

Shops are a real pain about this. I tried to return underwear as it became uncomfortable halfway through my marathon but they refused even when I kicked up a fuss.

😂

MeridaBrave · 16/12/2025 12:52

My kids have pulled off tags before checking they fit and I have taken back. But not if worn!!

Sell it on vinted as new without tags, but add in the comments that you wore it once.

upstairsdownstairscardboardbox · 16/12/2025 13:02

You can't return it when you have fucking well worn it. FGS what has happened to people. There was a whole 1 hour item on Radio 4 about this and a significant minority think it's fine, show off about it even. Its stealing! Sell it on Vinted if you made a mistake. Its really unfair and I am very glad shops are banning the frequent returners.

MrsMoastyToasty · 16/12/2025 13:10

They're not obliged to accept any return if "you didn't like it", only if it is faulty. Most places do returns to foster good customer service, but they don't have to legally and only in an unworn condition.

MintDog · 16/12/2025 13:12

Reminds me of the time some bloke brought an expensive suit back to M&S for a refund. He'd worn it to an interview and now no longer had need for it. This was pre internet days but if it happened today, I still wouldn't refund but at least I could say, if you don't want it sell it on marketplace.

OP. You own that coat. You've bought it, removed the tags and worn it. Buyers remorse I hear but you can't just take it back for a refund!

I wasn't planning to announce that I'd worn it to the pub when I returned it 😂

I didn't wear it in the pub, I wore it to walk there and back. It doesn't look or smell worn at all.

@saveforthat And let's be honest. Who goes to the pub for one hour? 👋Me. I hate pubs, but a bunch of friends were getting together for a couple of Christmas drinks. I stuck my head in to be sociable and left after two drinks.

So what exactly did you do with the coat while you were in the pub? 😳 not that is matters as you have already worn it so doesn’t qualify for a refund. Sell it on Vinted.

whatthedickens5 · 16/12/2025 13:20

It was all fine until I read you wore it to the pub. So it's no longer new and its bad form wanting to return it as "new". That is not acceptable and I hope they spot its been worn and not give you a refund.

ReturnsAdministrator · 16/12/2025 13:20

My screen name is my job.
Please don’t return the coat.
How would you feel about buying what is effectively now a used item of clothing.
I wouldn’t accept it back.

Shame on you. It’s not new and unworn and it doesn’t even still have a tag attached.
You can’t return it.

itsthetea · 16/12/2025 13:23

You wore the coat as a coat and that’s why you took the tag off

it’s yours now

outdooryone · 16/12/2025 13:36

Yeah, no.
You consciously took the tag off and wore it outside the house for a walk or more.
You now own it.

Chewbecca · 16/12/2025 13:47

No, don't return something you have worn. Do you really need to be told this?

PowerPuffGirdle · 16/12/2025 13:47

OK. Thanks for your inputs.

Just use a thin bit of sellotape around the plastic tag where it's brokwn - have done it before, no problems. Don't think they tend to care much as long as you have the tag and receipt.

Gothamcity · 16/12/2025 14:50

Hufflebuffs · 16/12/2025 12:40

Wore them to the pub?

🤣🤣🤣

Bryantpark · 16/12/2025 14:55

Seriously, primark won't care just take it back with the receipt and tag and get a refund. So much outrage on this thread about something that really doesn't matter.

Bodypumpmum · 16/12/2025 15:06

Not that its right, but im sure they would grant a refund. Op will probably try anyway, not sure why they had to come and ask our input.

Nocookiesforme · 16/12/2025 15:07

You have worn the coat. It therefore is not new any more. Therefore you can not return it. The T&C's for returning items will be clear in that the item must be unworn and have the tag attached - there will be a notice of this somewhere in store.
How would you feel about buying a brand new coat that had been worn in a pub for 2 hours and 'returned' as new? What are you going to do if they refuse to accept it back - shout about your rights until someone gives in and refunds you? It's people like you who make retail workers lives a misery.
You wouldn't like it and if you still return it than you are an utter dick @PowerPuffGirdle

Right, so when you buy something new, you don't care if it's pre worn?

LevelHed · 16/12/2025 15:08

WOW. You are one of those women. Why are you not absolutely ashamed of yourself?? You wear an item and then return it. Disgusting and dishonest.

CautiousLurker2 · 16/12/2025 15:10

PowerPuffGirdle · 16/12/2025 12:10

What are the chances of getting a refund if I do this, do you reckon? It's Primark.

I've worn the coat once for an hour at the pub. It doesn't look or smell worn.

Then you would be fraudulently returning a used item expecting a full refund which is rather despicable.

ParmaVioletTea · 16/12/2025 15:11

Burnnoticed · 16/12/2025 12:12

I would not want to buy the coat that you wore to the pub and then returned

My thoughts exactly.
