Took the tag off a clothing item by snapping the kimble tag. Can I reattach? How?

PowerPuffGirdle · 16/12/2025 11:52

I bought a new coat.

I removed the price tag by snapping the kimble tag (the plastic thing that attached the price tag to the item).

But now I want to return the coat.

How can I fudge reattaching the price tag?

I still have both halves of the kimble tag. I don't think I can superglue them together because the surface area is so tiny.

Any other suggestions?

I don't fancy chancing my arm returning it with the price tag separate in case they say "no".

What are the chances of getting a refund if I do this, do you reckon? It's Primark.

I've worn the coat once for an hour at the pub. It doesn't look or smell worn.

You can't return it. People who buy things for an event and then return it need to give themselves a shake.

Stop it, sell it on vinted or something other platform.

gamerchick · 16/12/2025 15:15

And don't say it wasn't your intention. Why would you leave the tag on otherwise to go out in it?

ChangeIsDue · 16/12/2025 15:17

Your thread is dishonest. You made it sound as though snapping the Kimble tag was an accident, whereas you clearly deliberately removed it because you wanted to wear it to the pub.

AuntiePushpa · 16/12/2025 15:20

Of course you can return it and it's the least wasteful option if you don't want it. I'd use the plastic tag off something else to reattach whatever bits to the coat. You can kind of bend the tag our rather than snapping it

If you’ve worn the coat then you surely don’t think it’s right to return it? 😮

It's not the least wasteful.
She could give it to a charity shop, that would be the least wasteful option.
Or, sell in on as lightly worn.

tigger1001 · 16/12/2025 15:32

It's really not worth the aggravation. Just sell it on vinted as used/nearly new.

really not on to return an item you have worn out unless faulty

EuroTour · 16/12/2025 15:34

Of course it will smell - or do you not wear deodorant etc? Grim.

Hohofortherobbers · 16/12/2025 15:40

I have put one back together by melting one side over the hob and sticking it back together, hold together until it cools

Hohofortherobbers · 16/12/2025 15:40

Ps, I didnt wear item to a pub, not even for an hour

Trotula · 16/12/2025 16:37

Well you can try to return it, but Primark are a nightmare on returns and if you have an unworn item with the tag attached but no receipt they won’t even exchange for something else!

So you are trying to return a worn coat? I assumed you had removed it in error.
Personally I don’t think you should try and return it, that’s a terrible thing to do.

CointreauVersial · 16/12/2025 16:49

I tried on a jacket once (I think it was in Primark, funnily enough), put my hands in the pockets, and found a used tissue. 😷

Clearly, it had been worn and returned. Perhaps OP has done this before??

lizzyBennet08 · 16/12/2025 17:57

zero chance of a refund with tag off... ( not to mention the fact you've worn it)

You’ve got to be trolling?!? Who the hell wants to buy a coat they think is new that you’ve worn to the pub? Is the pub next door? Who spends only a total of one hour travelling to and from the pub including time in there? Pull the other one OP ffs.

Edited to add: are you a man? “Just nipping to the pub love, I’ll be back within the hour.” 😂

God, another one Hmm
Stop suggesting op should pawn a worn coat off on some other unsuspecting buyer so as not to “waste” it.
What is wrong with you?

I’m guessing your pub date(?) had a lucky escape …

ladyamy · 16/12/2025 18:57

I worked in fashion retail for a while and we saw things like this all the time. Just stick the tag in the pocket and explain to the sales assistant.

I would not want to buy the coat that you wore to the pub and then returned

This

What are the chances of OP taking it back anyway despite being told by others that she’s out of order for doing this?

Yes, it’s your coat now, resell on line as new without tags.

You want to return a coat you've already worn to the pub? Jeez. Unless there's something wrong with it I hope they tell you to sod off.

Explain what, exactly? That she’s worn it to the pub and then changed her mind?

PumpkinPi · 16/12/2025 19:10

This is hilarious - no member of staff at Primark is gonna quibble with you. If you have the receipt and purchased it less than 28 days ago, then you are entitled to a refund. There isn't a law to say the label must stay attached!
