This is the bumper Christmas issue with the added challenge of all the work Xmas brings and feelings it might bring up...but we're here. Highs and lows. 🌲🌲😴🤕🤗

We went to a light trail, I was pushed in a wheelchair after I made it to the house on crutches. I had to do the same in reverse and was so cold I could barely walk and then got in the car and basically had a panic attack a s cried a lot.

But we did it, it was very pretty and the family enjoyed it. I felt a bit odd and not very present.

dh is cooking steak baguettes and I am very glad. Painkillers and bed for me soon.

MewithME · 13/12/2025 20:51

Awww @FurForksSake sorry you feel so poorly but glad you're home and being looked after.

I haven't had a panic attack but I severely over did it at work once and sat shaking and burst into tears because I didn't feel safe to drive myself home. I think the symptoms can be scary sometimes.

Stage 4 cancer and on a drug trial . This morning I went to my voluntary job where I sort and price donations, I really like having a routine to my week as I think I would just stay in my PJs and watch TV unless I have some structure. Came home and made some lunch ie cheese and crackers . This afternoon I've been tired so spent a lot of time sitting , reading , watching tv and scrolling! Made a meal for the three of us , my son tidied the kitchen and stacked the dishwasher . Now in my PJs with cat ensconced on my knee.

TeaAndStrumpets · 14/12/2025 06:53

Morning all!

Welcome @Contrarymary30 glad you found us. I hope the trial is not too tiring for you. How long is your treatment due to last? Your son sounds wonderful!

@FurForksSake too much fun....you know we're not allowed! Joking aside it has been bloody freezing and I hope you are cosy at home for a few days.

DH is driving over to deliver some Christmas biscuits to his cousin's widow, he should be out all morning so I 'll get the chance to wrap his presents while he's gone. He's got every tool and car accessory known to man so I'm down to books. We are supposed to be decluttering but there's always room for a few more books!

TeaAndStrumpets · 14/12/2025 07:15

The internet swallowed my first message but hello to @Megsdaughter I missed you before. Your granddaughter sounds lovely and a real bookworm. Both my DDs were avid readers so it was always fun to buy books for them. We saved all their books so the grandchildren have a huge selection. (Including the Moomins @MewithME !)

Hello as well to @Tryonemoretime and @youalright it is lovely to see new people and hope you enjoy the thread.

FuzzyPuffling · 14/12/2025 08:05

Morning all!
We've got two DGC coming round for a couple of hours this morning. They're going to decorate the Christmas tree. At 11 and 9 i hope they'll do a lovely job, so we don't have to bother! Their dad is on a course and as a trainee vicar, my DD is jolly busy on Sundays!

Then it's our church carol service this evening. A week early IMO, but I'm singing in that. I love a good carol service.

I'm planning a "feet up day" tomorrow!

Hope you all have the best day you can.

TeaAndStrumpets · 14/12/2025 08:32

@FuzzyPuffling a bit of child labour never comes amiss...they think they are having fun but are actually giving you a nice rest ;-)

It sounds as if you are going to have a lovely day!

Tryonemoretime · 14/12/2025 08:41

@Contrarymary30 Our neighbour was on a very successful drug trial and, a couple of years later, is still doing really well. I hope you (and everyone else) has a good day. I feel a bit guilty being on this thread, as I'm fine if careful, and LC is slowly improving after nearly 5 years. It meant last year I could go to our daughter's wedding , but had to leave the reception early, and I can't gtravel to see her as often as I'd like as I crash.

I’ve followed all these threads and would like to join if that’s okay?

I have confirmed fibro, and always find the colder months harder. Overdid it yesterday, carried heavy bags finishing off my Christmas shopping, knew I would suffer today, but underestimated how much: aching all over, voltoral, pain meds and heat pads which usually keep me functioning haven’t touched it. I would so love to function as I did ten years ago, and not have to pay the price of a normal day with a bed day after. Hugs to all of you Flowers

Welcome! I am fibro as well and IBS. You will love the thread, it's the nicest.

MewithME · 14/12/2025 08:56

@Tryonemoretime don't feel guilty. It's great you're doing better.

@FuzzyPuffling aw that sounds like a wonderful day. I could do with some carols to feel festive but I don't think I'm up to it. My son's friend's Mum is a vicar. They're the most wonderful family. Just lovely people. I love their house. Not a posh vicarage at all. A lovely house but full of people and chaos but so welcoming.

I am gearing up to go to the farm shop. I really want a wreath!

Morning all, I had a half way decent sleep but very horrid stressful dreams as per. My dad was supposed to be coming to visit today but has cancelled due to a heavy cold and tbh I'm glad as I can't be bothered with all the tiding up and entertaining, however I will have to try and come up with another day somewhere to see him before Christmas.

I have the options of either staying home all day or going to the range and finishing off the very last of my Christmas presents, we shall see how I feel. I hope everyone is able to have a restful Sunday.

BerfyTigot · 14/12/2025 09:06

Morning all!

@FurForksSake sympathies, these conditions are scary.

Hoping to have a quiet day today as tomorrow i am driving home for Christmas! Pretty tired already.

Having twinges from a tooth which is very annoying. And I've lost a pair of earrings because I'm so scatterbrained these days. I cannot seem to put things away and remember where I've put them.

Going to buy a fish pie from Cook for tea - the petrol station nearby sells it so it's easy to get.

Hope everyone has a good day.

When our younger daughter got married about 8 years ago we had to stay in a hotel near the venue. It was such a long day but like you I left early in the evening do. It was so noisy! Luckily they had the use of the whole building so we could hide away in a side room and chat with old friends. We checked out of the hotal in the early hours and drove the 80 miles home- I was horizontal for over a week! Worth it, though.

Daughter had her first baby this year (age 41!) so I made the journey up to see her, but that was in January. DD makes the journey every few months, and I get loads of photos. You miss so much with ME/CFS/LC. If you have an understanding family it makes the world of difference.

TeaAndStrumpets · 14/12/2025 09:32

@BerfyTigot thank goodness for ready made fish pie! Is your tooth a known problem, or could it be sinus/neuralgia/TMJ? I get all of these and the toothache just wanders around at random! Hope it's OK.

Your earrings are probably in the tea caddy 😃

Swanhilde · 14/12/2025 10:04

Morning everyone! Had a wonderful evening with all my family yesterday. Left them to it and went to bed at 10pm, which is a very late night for me 😴

Rest day today. Have no plans other than a shower and hair wash and a mushroom stroganoff for tea. That's nice and easy. And I'm v close to finishing my knitting - hoping not to run out of wool as I've modified the pattern 🤞

Next week is my last week at work before we break up. A whole term with no absences 🥳 I was made redundant this time last year, which was very painful and I am still bitter about. But my new job is brilliant and doing 3 days a week has been a revelation.

Have a restful day all 💕

TeaAndStrumpets · 14/12/2025 10:17

@Swanhilde you are very industrious! I wish I could knit! When I left primary school I'd made one and a half mittens in two years. They started out white but were very grubby from being in my desk. I had more luck with sewing, in fact I made my own wedding dress but that was from poverty!

Swanhilde · 14/12/2025 11:24

I have only just taken it back up @TeaAndStrumpets It gives me something to do and a sense of achievement that I lack in other areas of my life. I used to knit and sew all the time when I was younger, but to make your own wedding dress is amazing! 😍

This particular item is for my sil for Christmas. Just hope she likes it 🤣

TeaAndStrumpets · 14/12/2025 11:37

Haha @Swanhilde it was a very easy pattern! I couldn't have managed a full on meringue. Yes I miss making things. I am having to content myself with planning things for our new house. I designed a kitchen on graph paper and a local joiner has made it for me. It is in storage until the house is ready. I don't like making hasty decisions so needed to play around with ideas for ages. I am gobsmacked at what people pay for kitchens, mine was a fraction of the price.

I've been on this trial for 3 years ! Unprecedented to be stable for this long according to my oncologist. The side effects are hard to cope with but it's swings and roundabout. My son is wonderful! He does everything in the house and garden but I cook as it would be beans on toast otherwise . Thanks for your kind words .

FurForksSake · 14/12/2025 12:15

Afternoon! The house is being tidied around me, Ds is having a friend over. I’ve managed a bit and fed my sourdough.

MewithME · 14/12/2025 13:16

I have been to the garden centre. It was lovely. All festive and full of nice pensioners!

I got a wreath... which I think is too small for my door now I got it home but the large ones were super expensive and only had a couple left.

I'm now worrying I bought one that's meant to be on a gravestone 🙈

Anyway, I got the bits I wanted and had a very nice half hour with a coffee and my book.

I'm now being very decadent and having a g and t before lunch, sat in my new chair.

I will need a nap this afternoon!

I’ve woken up on the wrong side of the bed today. I’m fatigued as hell, my shoulder hurts and so does my toe. Oh and my hair that’s already falling out is annoying me too. But I’m. Making a roast for my family and my partner as I promised I would. Im just huffing away in the kitchen .

ChristmasStressy · 14/12/2025 13:27

What counts as chronic illnesses? I am Audhd, OCD with thyroid diseses and (unfortunatly self inflicted )stomach issues. I am chronically tired, thats for sure 🤣

I actually asked chat GPT.

I'm recently diagnosed and TBH am just getting my head round the fact Im not 'normal' and my 'lazyness' is actually medically justified.
