Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat...

In the TalkLair, the fairy lights are festooned on the mantlepiece, the tree is twinkling with baubles, the mince pies are in the oven, the MN legendary chicken is ready to feed the hordes. The denizens of the lair are a welcoming bunch, always eager for general chit-chat on all manner of topics. We just won’t mention the gnawed bones of our prey over there in the corner of the cave…

Well, let's hope the Rozzers get it back, even if you don't. I had one recovered many years ago and there was loads of damage - ripped off belly pan, dented exhaust, levers and bar ends damaged.

The ran out of petrol and were caught pushing it "to the Police station," at 2 am!

The little darlings had been riding it on the pit heaps.

Thing is, it won't legally belong to me any more, but the insurers. Although they might sell it back to me if recovered. I've emailed the pix to GMP this morning,

It’s great news that the insurers are stumping up more than expected and that it might be recovered.

Years ago a colleague had her car nicked. It was recovered having been used in a robbery and the car was returned to her but it was many, many months before the police returned her A-Z as it had been used to plan a getaway route and was evidence in a court case!

It's almost tempting me to consider another bike after all. But I'd need to put further security measures in place first.

Got all our money back for both train journeys so YAY

I wonder how much compensation the train operators have to pay out each time there are delays (both days it was clear from the departure boards that numerous trains were affected), but it must work out to be worth it compared to actually ensuring reliable travel 🤷🏻‍♀️

My godmother gave me a lovely Victorian pendant that had been her mother’s. Her mother had got it on the death of her stepmother, who had been murdered in a robbery in which the pendant, and other items had been stolen. The killer was caught when he tried to pawn the loot, as it was all very good quality and he wasn’t the type who would own jewels like that. (Stepmother had good taste and as she ran a successful pub, the money to indulge it). The murderer was hanged. So I suspect my pendant was also police evidence.
