A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

The utter muppetry that is the Labour Party. Fancy making up a plan for day one worker's rights - a child could give you a reasonable explanation of how that hurts employers and employment.

It's like they made a budget in a vacuum without ever having met a non-party political human.

Absolutely. Imagine having that in your manifesto. There must have been zero experience present.

That’s all they had left we’re sticking to our manifesto it’s fine we’re going down the plughole anyway. Now they don’t even have that.

DS has had 5 detentions since Sept. I could argue that they’re all connected to his autism. At his school lessons are all doubles and he struggles to maintain concentration. However he needs to recognise when he needs a break and use his time out card. I don’t see his detentions as unfair. They are a way to teach him that whilst he is allowed some adjustments, he can not break rules.

All double lessons sounds like hard work to me and a nightmare for a kid who is coping with feeling overwhelmed in class. I think detentions feel a bit unfair in the circumstances.

If Labour expects to open the doors wider to children with more sen challenges then there needs to be some sensible discussions about making the environment more adaptable to get more square pegs into this cost efficient round hole.

What gets me as its getting more detailed analysis of the budget is the blatant sabotaging for the next government ,with the giveaways being given now (so gives time to people to expect they are their 'rights') andvthe tax rises kicking in on run up to next election

Yes, it'd be almost in the interest of whoever governs next for Reeves to frogmarch us all the way to bankruptcy and have the dispassionate overlord accountants hack away at the welfare system so it was commensurate to our means and not the political ambitions of cowards.

TheNuthatch · 28/11/2025 10:49

Yes I agree.
It presents a good opportunity for the tories to campaign on fiscal competence at the next election, as Cameron/Osborne did.

It will be interesting to see where Reform go on welfare. I suspect they are regretting their decision to promise scrapping the two child cap.

Agree on both things. The budget was a gift to Kemi for that.

Yes, I noticed they've been quite vocal about it being a benefit that they would only give to those in work and those who are native born to produce a narrative that attempts to put clear political water between them and Labour. I suppose we'll see more of that.

Hopefully Kemi can may hay with being the fiscally competent grown up in the room. It's a good platform to lead with.

Do you think any politicians read our threads?

I'm sure of it.

Sometimes you hear phrases used which are word for word something we have pointed out.

I am currently looking for a new job in a vague and casual fashion. i HAD noticed a few ads advertising posts that had a period of unpaid internships with a view to taking on as full time paid work. I would thinkn 'Fucking chancers' but actually it occurred to me that it might be a way around first day rights. Instead of a normal probation period, you have an 'internship'.

It might be a leap as I don't know what that first days rights bill actually said, but it's just occurred to me.

I’ve read comments on the budget suggesting that Labour has no hope of winning the next election, they know it, and are therefore salting the earth for whomever takes over next. The goodies are given out now, the taxes and how to administer them comes later. Completely irresponsible, not governing for the good of the country in the long run.

Just an economic joyride with a bit of vandalism for fun to impress their client voters.

twistyizzy · 28/11/2025 11:44

I've heard that terms such as "boat people" should be banned from MN. But "flag shaggrrs" (and presumably "Tory scum") are acceptable 🙄

Would that be from the same posters who don't/won't see the racism towards Kemi by any chance?

Well, controlling language and demanding that it changes to suit your narrative is part and parcel of the left.

It'll give them something to talk about while they ignore Labour eating itself, I suppose.

twistyizzy · 28/11/2025 11:50

Yep

The same posters who complain about ableism whilst referring to Reform as 'Deform', those posters?
Yeh, come back to me on that when you've got a leg to stand on. Fucking hypocrites.

Yes those.
Like I said, they only want to ban what they don't agree with. Insults against people they don't like is all fine

I just love how they truly believe that their opinions are always right. They actually believe that they have the right to dictate what is, and isn't allowed on MN. They think they bloody own it.

Oh, I hadn't seen that.

Only on the left would accurate language like mother, worker, woman, boat people and illegal migration between considered problematic but cheering on Butler calling Kemi a white supremacist, Lammy calling women dinosaurs and Butler again calling Kwartang superficially black - as completely a-okay. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ikr why it’s bizarre.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 28/11/2025 12:11

I'm no fan of Farage, but using Fartage or Farright, as some posters seem to think is witty, is positively childish.
