I would love them!

EchoedSilence · 20/11/2025 20:39

I'd like them very much.

Coffeeishot · 20/11/2025 20:40

Oh those are lovely i would definitely be pleased if I got them, they are nice without being "generic" .

love them!!

craigth162 · 20/11/2025 20:40

Yes

SparklyCardigan · 20/11/2025 20:41

No, they would be going straight to the charity shop. I would love regular nicely shaped or textured glasses without the flowers though.

LeavesTrees · 20/11/2025 20:43

Is it a drinking glass or some kind of candle holder?

Either way, I think they are quite pretty, but not to my taste.

Littletreefrog · 20/11/2025 20:46

I wouldn't to be honest. Generic 30 to 40 year old female secret Santa at my workplace would be a bottle of wine some fluffy Christmas socks and some chocolate. Those glasses cater to quite a specific taste.

SarahAndQuack · 20/11/2025 20:51

Sorry, but I'd be pretty unimpressed. Unless you know they have a passion for twee, rather elderly 'picked up in the gift shop between the tartan scarves and the toy bears carrying hearts' vibe. It would not occur to me they cost over a tenner, either.

crappycrapcrap · 20/11/2025 20:54

Yes I can see they are not an entirely safe bet - I bought them on a whim as I like them whole browsing urban outfitters for something else.

I didn’t want to get alcohol as the type of job we’re in (social work) there’s often as many non drinkers as big drinkers.

@SarahAndQuackwow sorry. It was 80p over budget but I thought it was a good price!

Ok so you need a non alcohol £10 generic 30 to 40 female secret Santa present, here are a few things I've known go down well at my place.

  • Christmas themed mug, hot chocolate, popcorn and chocolate.
  • Blind date with a book (Google it if you've not heard of it, I hadn't until recently) you can get pre done ones on Etsy or make your own
  • Nice scarf and glove set
  • Perfume from Next
DoingAway · 20/11/2025 21:02

Nothing is really a safe bet for an unknown person though is it? I wouldn’t over think it OP.

It's nothing to be sorry for! You like them, so presumably you can hang onto them. I'm just explaining that if I saw them, I would assume cheapie gift shop/charity shop, because that's the vibe I get. This is why it's tricky getting something really specific for people you don't know, though.

WithIcePlease · 20/11/2025 21:07

Im quite minimalist/plain in my tastes and dislike clutter but I think those are nice for such as use on a bedside table or for a guest room
If not, someone would be happy to buy them from a charity shop

reluctantbrit · 20/11/2025 21:07

No, they scream hand wash and granny to me.

a safe bet for any unknown person is chocolate/biscuits/mug/tea or coffee bag

Not anythingt to wear, smelly or reading. All these would end at the charity shop.

Tammygirl12 · 20/11/2025 21:08

I like!

Overthebow · 20/11/2025 21:11

I’m within your age range and sorry but I don’t like them, they look a bit older to me. I would however like a glass with a Christmas feel to it like a snowflake pattern perhaps without the metallic colour on the rim.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 20/11/2025 21:14

bloody hell, people are miserable. I think they're pretty. a christmas themed mug would make me want to end it all!

I'd be pleased. I'd rather the glasses than perfume and fluffy socks.

It's not about being 'miserable' - the OP wants to know!

In the same vein, I would never buy cheapie perfume for someone I didn't know. You just don't know what people will love or hate, so it's good to get responses.

Boringly, I think work secret santas are the place for edible/drinkable gifts. If not booze for the OP's lot (which absolutely makes sense) then nice chocolate. Something you can eat is at least disposable. Otherwise it's just such a risk that what you love is what someone else considers tat.

And this is exactly why secret Santa is a nightmare if you don't know the people in it. But I think anyone who goes into a secret Santa with unknown people expecting a present the will love needs to be prepared to be disappointed.

Edited

Sorry but fluffy Christmas socks is a terrible gift.

RaininSummer · 20/11/2025 21:20

Not really as no space for anything like that as glass cupboard full. Prefer things which get used up like candles or edibles.
