Not the obvious toys and gadgets. Anything that amused or bemused you on your children’s lists?

My 4yo wants a banana-shaped yellow jelly. Not jelly sweets, an actual jelly.

A long time ago now, but DS asked for a Tesco bag. Not a normal bag for life, the ones that are about £1 with fabric handles.

Yesimmoaningaboutbenefits · 18/11/2025 19:45

Handcuffs and a set of knives.
He was 3. He wanted to cook dinner and play policeman.

A friend's DS asked for a bag of apples one year.

DS is too old for letters to Santa now, but for many years, from the age of about 3, his number one request was for brie. 🧀😂

DS last year wanted a Dollie (the sort that you move heavy objects on). He has great fun rolling it around the house.

BarnacleBeasley · 18/11/2025 19:51

DS1 would like a unicorn swim ring the exact same as the unicorn swim ring he wanted last year, which has gone squishy due to being extremely poor quality.

Dancinghedgehog23 · 18/11/2025 19:53

aged 4- A road sign! She couldn’t understand why that wasn’t possible.
Her favourite present was a pack of Highway Code flash cards.

Love that you got it for him!

My ds has asked for Santa to make a donation to a charity that gives hot meals to homeless people.
A noble wish, but not something I expected.

MrsTulip · 18/11/2025 21:52

My DS is 12 he asked for a replica premier league football trophy.
He gave us strict instructions that it has to be the correct measurements.
At £70 for a bit of cheap painted metal I think it will be staying on his wish list as while I don’t begrudge him £70, I’m sure I can think of a million better ways to spend £70.

My 4 year old nephew wants a foot spa

Iguessicoulddothat · 18/11/2025 21:55

Looks like there's plenty of banana shaped jelly moulds out there, will you be indulging him!?

I remember a cousin desperately wanting blue tak one year

A couple of years ago she was very little and wanted a big potato.

PortSalutSherryHello · 18/11/2025 22:01

A litter picker and a crocodile tooth

Yes, we've had blu tack, and same dc wants a pack of twisty shape dried pasta this year.

DD's best stocking gift was parmesan, she would have been five.
Eight years on she still uses the mini-grater almost daily.

Curiousrobin · 18/11/2025 22:03

Seems to have changed his mind now but my 3 year old originally wanted a Bloop and an El gran maja (Google them😄)

SouthLondonMum22 · 18/11/2025 22:05

DS is 3 and has asked for dice. 😂

OnlyOneAdda · 18/11/2025 22:14

This is a brilliant thread!

Never had anything this funny...one DC was very particular and would put Santa to a lot of trouble trying to source exactly the right colour, specification etc including some very expensive shipping from the USXX

Surely a child that has asked for brie, or a bag of apples, or a bag of pasta is a win as very easy to make their Christmas morning!! Hiding a giant banana jelly in the fridge amongst all the Xmas food somewhat trickier however...

southwestlife · 18/11/2025 22:19

My 9 year old would like a black suit, and that is all he will say on the matter, no reasons why, he would just like one as it looks cool!

We got Grandson when he was four toy road signs and traffic lights
. They were about 4 foot high plastic ones
... the traffic lights worked on batteries
He also got an highway code book and a AA car map book.

Daughter asked her youngest son ( he's 17 and ASD / food fussy) his answer .. l just want a Chinese takeaway for Christmas dinner.

Mrsknowitall · 18/11/2025 22:22

When my daughter was 4 she wanted blue tack so I put that at the very top of her stocking she went mad for it and kept saying it was her bestest present… couldn’t give a fuck about the silvanian family mansion and accessories that I’d spent a huge amount on 😂 she’s 26 now and we still laugh about it
