My first ever mobile phone

OP posts:

I had one of those "crystal grower" things and my brother knocked it over. Arsehole.

IdaGlossop · 18/11/2025 18:25

A wooden rocking horse that my dad made for me.

NovemberRedHolly · 18/11/2025 18:26

I had a watch stolen that I received for my 21st birthday.

Yuropean · 18/11/2025 18:28

I had a sleepover for my 13th and my auntie made me a really nice chocolate coconut cake. I didn’t want mine when it was sliced. I was going to eat it later. I fell asleep and my cousins friend ate it.

soupmaker · 18/11/2025 18:31

My dad’s Greek worry beads that I lost on a pub crawl over 35 years ago. I retraced my steps when sober but no joy. Still feel sore about them.

DarkRootsBlue · 18/11/2025 18:35

One of those pictures that changes when you move it to different angles. I don’t remember what the picture was, just the devastation when it went missing (my cousin was staying and probably stole it). I was around 4 or 5 yeas old, 56 now!

visionpools · 18/11/2025 18:36

My childhood teddy that I lost on holiday. I still get upset when I think about him.

MostlyGhostly · 18/11/2025 18:59

A really nice, fine knit, black 3/4 sleeved designer cardigan/top I got from TK max about 20 years ago and left at a barbecue . I asked around and tried to get it back to no avail and I’ve never found a replacement. I can’t remember the name of the designer now but it was the perfect fit and went with everything and I still think about it regularly.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 18/11/2025 19:03

A Hamilton watch, lost in the Royal Oak car park in Dunkerswell c1991/92.

A wooden rocking horse that my dad made for me.

Thank-you for the ❤ The rocking horse was lovely. Even his rippled mane was made of wood. My dad painted him in gloss paint. I can still see the doleful eye on each side of the head.

MissisBee · 18/11/2025 19:27

I got a Polly Pocket necklace from my great aunt when I was about 8 or so. It was beautiful. It had a pendant shaped like a bell jar with Polly Pocket inside it. Once I'd opened it and played with it a bit, I stowed it safely (or so I thought) in an empty Matchmakers box. Which my parents then unwittingly put in the fire 😭😭😭 I didn't even have it a whole day 😭😭😭

DarkEyedSailor · 18/11/2025 19:28

A watch belonging to my gran that I was given when she died in the early 80s. It was lost when I had to go into a women's refuge in 2012. There were other things, but that was the most painful.

maowmaow · 18/11/2025 19:30

Lost a gold bangle that was a 16th birthday present at a friends house a couple of years ago. Convinced she found it and kept it, she moved away shortly after so I don’t see her anymore.

EmeraldDreams73 · 18/11/2025 19:33

A large stuffed Humpty Dumpty. We lived in a caravan in the mudbath garden while our house was being built in the 70s. Until I was about 35 I believed it had been "lost in the move" - about 30 feet between the caravan and the (smallish) house?! My mum admitted she'd got rid of it and thought I'd have realised that. I really hadn't! I lamented his demise for years and still remember him at 52!

Piggypiggyoinkoink · 18/11/2025 19:38

My silver pvc trousers that I lent to a friend. They were not returned. They are the reason I don’t share anything any more.

IdaGlossop · 18/11/2025 18:25

A wooden rocking horse that my dad made for me.

Exactly the same for me. It was called Rocky and when I'd outgrown it, it was given to my dad's work colleague for his daughter. They never returned it and I'd love to still have had it for my kids and grandchildren.

Soonenough · 18/11/2025 19:42

My Kindle on holiday . Was loaded with over a thousand titles from a USB stick that a friend gave me . Still.angry about it .

80lbdownandstillgoing · 18/11/2025 19:50

Richard the teddy.

not actually mine , but my dads

my dad passed away when I was 13 ish , and my mum cleaned his house out- they had been divorced for a few years by then and there was no love loss or careful sorting, everything was binned.

on the day after he died I asked her to bring me Richard, and she said she couldn’t find him . I told her it was on top of the wardrobe and asked to come get it and I wasn’t allowed .

she said it wasn’t there , but I had seen it three days before he died . I assume he was was just chucked out and she didn’t want to say , but it still upsets me.

SeaAndStars · 18/11/2025 19:52

I had some jeans with little glittery studs on from Jane Norman. They were so lovely and often people would stop me in the street to ask me where they were from. My godson picked some of the studs off, then more fell off and I still wore the jeans until they fell apart. I wish I'd bought enough pairs to last a lifetime.0

JenniferandJuniper · 18/11/2025 19:53

My two Rosebud dolls I had decided to keep all my life, they gave me comfort and I loved them. I came home from junior school one day and they were missing. My mother had taken them and given them to children at the school where she was a dinner lady. I told her I had decided to keep them forever, I really knew I loved them, and she showed no concern. She thought I shouldn't have them now, too old, so that was that. Didn't occur to her to ask first. I did mention it years later, that she took without asking.

Zofloramummy · 18/11/2025 19:54

A ruby and diamond ring. I was staying with a friend while trying to sort out housing and going through a divorce. I left it on the mantelpiece and she denied it was ever there. We are no longer friends.

phantomofthepopera · 18/11/2025 20:02

Not a possession but a birthday party. My party (I was 10) was on a Sunday afternoon. I had an accident and broke my nose in the morning. DF took me to A&E where I remained for most of the day. This was back in the 80s when not everybody had phones, and DM wouldn’t have known the parents’ names/numbers anyway (back then we took ourselves to and from school from the age of about 6) so she couldn’t cancel. My party went ahead without me.

We came home after Bullseye while DM was clearing up. I was devastated! I’ve been through some shit in my life but it’s the one thing I can’t let go of. 😂

That is so weird...exactly the same here! I was so upset, and my mum didn't even tell him off just brushed it off as an accident. Promised me another one that never materialised.

MorrisZapp · 18/11/2025 21:00

A pair of silver tab Levis that cost me two weeks wages in 1990. Some unutterable fucker stole them from the tumble dryer in the halls of residence.
