Butlers. They are lush. Available in Waitrose.

letshavetea · 16/11/2025 20:27

Audrey’s Chocolates. They’re in Hove and also make chosolates for Fortnum and Mason.

OrangesCinammonIvy · 16/11/2025 20:36

@letshavetea

I agree but they have changed their choosing system to a mim of three chocs even for smaller selection boxes. I didn't like their response when I complained either.

I didn’t know that. Do you mean a minimum of three of each flavour? I always go in there to buy them, so may not have experienced this.

OrangesCinammonIvy · 16/11/2025 20:58

@letshavetea oh wow your lucky..yes from years ago after they were recommended two years in a row i treated myself to a hand picked box and they were gorgeous !

But I'm getting not the smallest but next one up and they changed to only choosing three of each so no point for me and more than that I was told I should like it

Whitaker's peppermint creams

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 16/11/2025 21:04

I live near a branch of Choccoco. They win hands down. You can buy them online too.
Expensive but worth it. And they do exceptional 80% chocolate buttons.

soupyspoon · 16/11/2025 21:06

Audreys when I have looked them up have quite a lower cocoa content.

And what has Pauline ever done to you?!

OrangesCinammonIvy · 20/11/2025 22:46

@soupyspoon 🤣 I've only ever known one Pauline actually a friend's mum

@Justputsomeyoghurtonit I think choco are going to be this year's trial

The cherry one looks amazing

We have an independent shop near us that is good but I must admit, I make my own - I buy 100% chocolate online if I’m being posh or just head to the supermarket, it’s not difficult to make chocolates

I can't comment on the filled chocolate, I only buy the 80% Ugandan buttons or chocolate buttons. Or go in the cafe for a dark hot chocolate!

AngelsWithSilverWings · 21/11/2025 11:12

I love a Rococo selection box. So expensive though.

We are off to Bruges mid December and always buy lots of boxes from a shop called Dumon.

We used to order them on line for delivery but Brexit forced them to stop offering that service. So now we have to drive over and get them ourselves which is a terrible chore ( not!)

BillieWiper · 21/11/2025 11:18

I just imagined you had an auntie called Pauline with no teeth who liked eating all the soft fondants that nobody likes, like the strawberry and orange ones. 🤣

Audreys are rubbish. I ordered some a couple of years ago after seeing endless comments on here about how amazing they are but they had a massive ingredient list full of all sorts of shite including palm oil and a suspiciously long use by date so not the lovely fresh artisan chocolates they're presented as.

Ludicrously expensive too and postage was a rip off. Worse in every way compared with the likes of Hotel Chocolat yet bizarrely MN almost universally loves Audrey's and slags off HC for being too expensive and poor quality when they're cheaper and nicer than Audreys.

ConnieHeart · 21/11/2025 11:34

Just make sure that nobody Paulines were harmed in the making

yorkshiretoffee · 21/11/2025 11:40

I thought Pauline was an Eastenders reference - was she always eating substandard chocolate?

I was going to say Monty Bojangles, I love those truffles but apparently they use sustainable palm oil. Better than unsustainable palm oil, but it's the taste of palm oil that lets everything down

Summerdown make lovely peppermints, I think palm oil free.

Talipesmum · 21/11/2025 11:41

Chococo are wonderful. I now get their advent chocolate box each year - it’s glorious.

I rate this range from Waitrose:

Also I love these Leonadis chocolates - I usually order from this site, you can get ready made assortments or choose your own (I do this). The website is a pain to use but the results are excellent!

cheekaa · 21/11/2025 12:15

My favourite is Danieli in Richmond! Total indulgence. They are the only ones I will gift. Expensive but worth every penny.

LittleCutiePie74 · 21/11/2025 12:17

Pauline meaning praline? I think? 😂

Does annoy me when Pauline sneaks into a chocolate filling.

PistachioTiramisu · 21/11/2025 12:21

Try Leonidas Chocolates from Chocolate Express - they are gorgeous and many contain cream. You can buy a pre-filled box or choose your own. Really recommend them. For something cheaper, try the M&S Big Mix tin - they are like Quality Street used to be years ago, and have shiny wrappings!

Sorry @Talipesmum just seen that you have recommended Leonidas too! Lovely aren't they?

HangerLaneGyratorySystem · 21/11/2025 12:23

I came straight on to say Audreys too, DD lives round the corner so I had a box of creams for my birthday - pure 1960s nostalgia!

They really are! Happy to brave the slightly annoying website to get all the lovely chocs!

Biscuitsneeded · 21/11/2025 12:43

Expensive, but I really like Prestat chocoloates...
