These are lovely, although there's a section of Paulines to choose from tooWink

I've been to their shop/ cafe in Scotland (lived nearby for work for a while, didn't find out for a while that the 'Grantley' I had heard people talk about was actually Grandtully where the Chocolatier is based, and I had been pronouncing as it's written Blush)

The flavored hot chocolates in their cafe are amazing.

Booja Booja chocolates are really good

Fetcha is my go to treat chocolate gift.

I’m going to recommend my favourite local independents as well - I love Davenports who sell online. Also Gareth James in Tynemouth but it doesn’t look like their web shop has any stock at the moment so no use unless you can get there in person!

If you want delicious chocolates that are a little bit different have at look at Sam Joseph. They have a stalls in Altrincham and Chester Market and are also have boxes available to buy on line.

@Allthesnowallthetime

Oh now they look good but I think fondant cream is different to cream

Have you got any independent choc shops near you? We have one that’s amazing

OrangesCinammonIvy · 22/11/2025 20:31

@Tiredandtrying

Yes one in a near by town.
I splashed out as a really special treat to choose some for myself and a friend for Xmas years ago. It was something I had never done before and savoured the moment.
The guy ruined my experience ,he was really impatient and rude and I never went back.

My cousin got me a box of the Monty Bojangle vegan ones the other Christmas and they were extremely delicious. I'm not even vegan!

Fusion Chocolate in Ilkley is fantastic, a real treat.

Angelbunny · 23/11/2025 06:54

You all sound ridiculous. Get a grip, it's just chocolate!

OrangesCinammonIvy · 23/11/2025 07:04

@Allthesnowallthetime

Not boxed chocolates but for bars Bare Bones is the best. They usually do a Christmas special flavour. Their hot chocolate is also amazing!

MaxJLHardy · 23/11/2025 07:22

Rococo

The highest scoring chocolate companies I recognised as 'high street' in Ethical Consumer's list of companies, were Booja Booja and Cocoa Loco, who are both palm oil free. Moo Free was also palm oil free, for anyone reading with a dairy allergy.

Mid-ish table (around 30-50/100 overall score) were Divine, Montezuma's, Ritter Sport, Tony's Chocolonely, Guylian. In the palm oil category though they scored higher; about 60-70/100. Lindt and Ferrero were lower overall but also about 60/100 for palm oil.

The corporations to avoid were Mars (owners of Hotel Chocolat), Nestlé and Mondelez (identified as responsible for ecocide in Papua, amongst other things). Green and Blacks also scored overall 3/100. Most of these worst companies don't include products that contain palm oil that are fed to their cows, in their palm oil sustainability targets/pledges.
