Going on holiday today, on the way to the airport on a long bus journey. I'm overweight , no beating about the bush I'm trying hard to lose it and have lost some but have a long way to go. So I'm Sitting on the bus excited for hols in a great mood, an elderly man gets on with a cane looks at me and makes a very loud audible oink. I just stared at him didn't say anything I was so taken aback tbh, he proceeds to sit behind me making oinking noises. I'm really upset he got off the bus at the next stop but it's really tainted the start of my holidays..why do people have to be so unkind,.fat people know we are fat we don't need idiots like that making stupid noises and comments. Anyway sorry for the rant don't know why I'm letting it get to me so much! Thanks for reading if you have made it this far.x

I would assume the old fart was senile. On the other hand you sound like a lot of fun 👌 Have a lovely holiday. Send photos! ❤️

gallivantsaregood · 15/11/2025 13:36

@sarahbear87 I'm so sorry this happened to you and hope you are OK.

Either this man is an awful human being or....playing devil's advocate for a moment, could he have Tourettes? Having very recently watched I Swear, I do think it could be a possibility. Maybe he got off so soon because he was super aware of the discomfort he was causing but also aware it wasn't going to stop. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s very likely that the man wasn’t in full control of his faculties. Aging can do that to people, it can be a feature of dementia.

lostintranslation148 · 15/11/2025 14:10

That's not normal behaviour. Feel sorry for the old man who clearly has something very wrong with him. Probably twatitus.

BettyBobble · 15/11/2025 14:14

Nasty old bastard. Hope he doesn't have a lonely and painful end.

RuncibleSpoons · 15/11/2025 14:15

What an arsehole. There’s no possible justification other than misery loves company.

chocolateychurros · 15/11/2025 14:16

Well, he was showing you that he is a pig wasn’t here?
The world is full of all types of people, good and bad, kind and evil as you are very well aware I’m sure.
Just remind yourself of that and go and enjoy your holiday.

Fatcatsinspats · 15/11/2025 10:39

He’s literally behaved like an animal. He’s a sad little fucker who can’t bear the fact that you, a woman are happy and positive so decided to try and bring you down. Don’t let it get to you. Have a lovely holiday.

Animals don't behave like this. Only people are are evil in this way.

mcmooberry · 15/11/2025 14:19

How annoying that he left the bus before you or someone else could let him have it. Haven't even got the words to say what an awful person he is. Enjoy your holiday, don't give him any power to spoil it. x

As yet, there is very little understanding toward senility. I do believe this will change as awareness grows and information becomes more widely shared.

If he’s senile enough that he can’t control what he does in respect of strangers then he needs to be accompanied by a carer.

OP shouldn’t just have to accept this.

gingerbreadmaid · 15/11/2025 15:01

Good grief, what a deeply unhappy bitter old man. I wonder what he hates about his life so much to project it on a stranger on a bus.
Don’t give him any head space, he probably felt better about his miserable self for a second and now he’s festering away in his vile bitterness again.
If I’d been there I’d have ridiculed him for that behaviour.

Very likely? There have always been a lot of rude men around and young rude men grow into older rude men. Cunts all their life!

OP, try to forget about it and enjoy your holiday.

'itsy bitsy teeny weeny shrivelled little short dick man'

(sing at full volume)

PInkyStarfish · 15/11/2025 15:14

And no one else said anything despite the population consisting of many overweight people nowadays?

MaloryJones · 15/11/2025 15:15

What a nasty low life
He has probably always been a vile little cretin, OP

Should have said "I can always lose weight but you will always be a cunt" , or words to that effect.

If anything, he has showed himself to be a complete and utter pig. This brief encounter with someone who lacks social grace is now over.

He has chosen to be a nasty piece of work and not reacting probably took the wind out his sails and disempowered his nastiness. He'll be gutted while you will be having a wonderful holiday. 💐

Yes, ironic that he’s the pig.

Sorry that happened OP and don’t beat yourself up for not knowing what to say in the moment. None of us are prepared for ignorant bastards.

You’re probably right, but I’m not sure caters are allocated for irritability or outspokenness in the elderly. It’s more likely if they were unsafe, that they’d be given a part time carer.

Absolutely true that lots of people are rude.

ohyesido · 15/11/2025 16:51

you should pity him, he must be very unhappy

BerryTwister · 15/11/2025 16:56

OP it may not have been deliberate and aimed at you. In my local supermarket there’s a man who stacks shelves. He constantly makes a noise that’s a cross between a grunt, a cough, and a throat clearing. The first time I saw him I thought he had a chest infection, but I’ve been going there for years now, and he does it constantly. It’s clearly a sort of tic that he can’t help. It’s seems more likely the man on the bus was like the supermarket man, rather than being deliberately vile.

sammylady37 · 15/11/2025 17:18

I think there are a lot of people on this thread who have never been the victim of such behaviour from men and who are inclined to think it’s due to illness, or wasn’t actually intended the way it was perceived. Unfortunately, some of us have repeatedly been subject to such behaviour from men (and it always seems to be men) and know that it is very deliberate and targeted at a woman who dares to be overweight and not conforming to their standards of fuckability. It’s a very real form of misogynistic abuse targeted at fat women.

AngelicKaty · 15/11/2025 17:25

There was only one pig on that bus - the ignorant, old, pig of an excuse for a man. Hope you've left it behind you now and are having a lovely, relaxing holiday.

DandyDenimScroller · 15/11/2025 17:27

He'll likely be dead soon anyway.
Forget him and enjoy your holiday.
