Are there places women can go to have a break/ be looked after?

I have come to the realization that I need to have a complete and total break from my real life, it will only be possible for a week due to my responsibilities so it needs to be really good and restorative, can anyone suggest anywhere? South West of Uk ideally.
must be comfortable, ‘normal’ type atmosphere so not religious. Single rooms, goid quality ideally vegetation food ( not a health farm). Treatments, peace and quiet, that sort of thing.
Any suggestions?

Pack books and go
up the Scottish highlands. Get a little cottage on a loch some food and wine and switch ur phone off listen to the rain and chill tf out

I am a fan of Ragdale, but it's always been quite to very busy when I've been. Definitely avoid the weekend if you do choose Ragdale, the spa has been full of hen parties every time I've been at a weekend

It's a fantastic place for a spa-y few days, especially if you have your room to retreat to when you want

Does it have to be UK? I think we got quite close to what you describe in a luxurious, smallish adults only hotel in Turkey. Waiters circling bringing drinks to your lounger, a bit of entertainment if you want it but quiet if you don't, no sunbed wars, private beach. More faff to get there of course.

My sister went to the dreaming retreat in Wales.

caringcarer · 14/11/2025 21:57

That would be your Mum's.

Keepers … those places look amazing !.. and I am in Southern Hemisphere so it’s a hell of a long way. 😂

Love the idea of dreaming retreat - but not sharing a room unfortunately

Bellavida99 · 14/11/2025 22:03

The Scarlet hotel might fit the bill if you look at their curated breaks

would you be interested in a little cruise? I know they can be busy, but they really can give you a chance to reset and just breathe.
The opportunity for your brain to be calm whilst looking across the sea allows other positive thoughts to seep in .
Good luck with finding something that gives you a bit of a break from life.

I'm so sympathetic

but I've noticed that the vast majority of women who want this are with men who are selfish uncaring pricks who are happy to exploit their wife's need to ensure that the children are well looked after.

So I'm suggesting as an alternative - confront your selfish uncaring prick husband.

@Inextremis I've checked out the website and really like the sound of this. Have you been here? Any idea of prices?

Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot · 14/11/2025 22:13

Ragdale hall IS lovely, but it is just a spa. A fairly expensive one too, so if you go in thinking you will have this super individualised experience in which staff will cater for your every whim and you won’t see another human until you leave you will be wildly disappointed. I had a gorgeous time but arrived late because I was coming after work and they REFUSED to give me a starter when I went for dinner. Bit tight, as it was only 8.30pm when I arrived. I wasn’t even the last person in the restaurant!

Thank you this sounds amazing !

Another vote for Ragdale, OP, it really is amazing! I live close by so have never stayed over but I go for the day every few months and am on the waiting list to be a member. Everything about it is fabulous and it sounds like exactly what you need! X

Snowplop · 14/11/2025 22:14

Another Ragdale fan here but a friend went recently and said it was busier and noisier than usual.

I spent a few days there by myself several years ago. I barely spoke to anyone! When you go into the dining hall for dinner they ask you if you would like to sit alone or on a social table.

I was talking to my sister the other nights about adult camps.
Where you can go and they teach you how to be more of an adult.
It was a joke we know these places dont exist.

My sister said that you can draw a curtain around your area and there is no obligation to speak … she didn’t speak, she went for a reset and said the retreat allowed her to do that.

Hartwell House is a hotel (+ small spa) owned by the National Trust. It’s super quiet and you feel very, very looked after.

edit to add - it’s like pretending you’re a guest in an Edwardian mansion house for the weekend. Gorgeous place to be
