Are there places women can go to have a break/ be looked after?

I have come to the realization that I need to have a complete and total break from my real life, it will only be possible for a week due to my responsibilities so it needs to be really good and restorative, can anyone suggest anywhere? South West of Uk ideally.
must be comfortable, ‘normal’ type atmosphere so not religious. Single rooms, goid quality ideally vegetation food ( not a health farm). Treatments, peace and quiet, that sort of thing.
Any suggestions?

How much do you want to spend?

Coconutter24 · 14/11/2025 21:24

Like a spa?

Not really, I want to be looked after a bit. Spa’s are very impersonal and can be busy/ noisy. Something more like a retreat I suppose?

Realistically no more than about 2k. I’m sure there are places for 10’s of K but can’t afford that.

What about one of those holiday villas that come with staff?

Oh, probably not then

Sounds like a retreat? Do you want activities there? If so, what kind of thing?

Winkyskull · 14/11/2025 21:31

Look up yoga retreats? Meditation? If you look up retreats generally there are lots - just have to work out what kind of theme you want

Yes, gentle stuff, I don’t do any exercise really due to ill health but happy to try gentle yoga/ pikates meditation or talking groups.

Ragdale Hall? It’s in Leicestershire, unlike a spa attached to a hotel it’s more of a retreat style spa. They park your car, check you in over a drink and you get breakfast in bed. Lovely grounds, treatments, spa area, classes/gym and meals are in a lovely dining room. Guests on their own can dine alone or choose to join a social table. Lots of places to relax, doze off with a book etc and they often have talks of an evening plus things like yoga/sound baths. Sounds exactly what you’re after. X

To confirm op, you are not looking for a Priory/rehap type set-up (are you suffering from addiction?). From my understanding, it is more the Rest & Relaxation you are looking for?

Inextremis · 14/11/2025 21:35

I know you said not a health spa, and in the UK - but have a look at Cloona, here in the west of Ireland - you can fly to Knock from Bristol, I think - and then there's a bus to Westport. It's not what you'd think of as a health spa, it's in the middle of the most wonderful scenery/landscape, is never 'busy' and could be what you're looking for. Thought it was worth posting about because if it doesn't suit you, it might suit someone else who reads this :)

Top Detox Health Retreat, Weight-loss, Yoga & Walking holidays, Meditation

Cloona Health Retreat is a long established health spa dedicated to cleansing & detox retreats which involve yoga, mindfulness, meditation, walking & diet.

Hi Calm, no addiction issues thankfully. I’m completely burnt out ( due to my job, needs of family and chronic health issues.) i feel I need some sort of reset.

Sharpham? They have different levels of accommodation, may not be luxurious enough but is a retreat and total break.

newbie202020 · 14/11/2025 21:37

Was going to say Ragdale Hall too - have been there for a few weeks on my own are various times and think that I (very happily) didn't speak to a soul apart from staff for that time. A week in my dressing gown, padding around and chilling out was wonderful!

These might be the kind of place you mean. Haven't stayed at either, but been recommended (admittedly ages ago):

I love Ragdale Hall, but have only ever been able to afford 2 nights, and even that is a bit over budget. I'd need a lottery win to stay a week. I can dream though...
