A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

We are bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

I’m not sure if anyone was here during Covid but it was ridiculous then. The piling on and mockery was insanity. It’s pretty much carried on from there.

Also the Brexit threads. Piling on and mocking and also sneering at posters between themselves. I’m surprised discussing and bitching about posters on threads (as opposed to pms) is allowed.

It can via the MPs but the markets will go nuts I reckon.

It will make the Truss bond sell-off look like a vicarage tea party.

The fall-out from the 26th is first, though….

I'm in two minds about an election now. I'd love the damage to stop but I'd also like the Tories to have time to regroup.

God yeh they’re a total bin fire. Idk why the one or two posters who diverge bother. The rest are entirely vicious.

Yes I feel the same. I don't want an early election yet. Kemi needs to keep building. While we wait, labour will keep digging their own grave to make sure they are completely unelectable.

Mumsent have a group who ruin even the most plain boring threads and been really nasty
Political theads will always be emotive it's the ones who drone on and ruin basic threads they need to stop
Or the ones who cannot stand any sort of hint of a humours thread...get rid
And the whole of mn will become better.

The conservatives were shit on prisons, and they left a mess. Funding for prisons seems to always be at the bottom of the list. I was hounded off a prisons thread recently so I'm kean to hear your thoughts.
What do you think of the increase in early release that Labour have implemented? Has anything improved so far? I keep reading that there is a correlation between the big increase in early release, and the increase in accidental release.

Edited

I don’t think there was any choice in early release , the POA ( the union) even said that.

Prisoners have been accidentally released for many years , it isn’t anything new and most thankfully are sent straight back. It’s usually admin errors, or a mixup between offender management and probation. Lots of departments work in a prison.

I think it stands to reason that when you have a mass amount of early releases , it’s likely that mistakes can happen.

Even calculations can go wrong , it can be human error. This isn’t something I deal with personally as it’s not part of my role.

Funding for prisons is never a priority for any government but the last government really neglected it and the new government have been left with a mess.

And no Rishi to clear up if Rayner or some other bond market what bond market politician was chosen.

Yeh some more time I think. Kemi will enjoy the Labour implosion in the meantime.

You are right.

Usually the most reasonable explanation is simple fuck up. However, it's telling that under today's circumstances lots of people tent to think it's intentional.

Fair, but many of us will take the win, especially when it is Lammy in the cross-hairs.

we really will need Kemi Badenoch, Farage and anybody else important to talk and work with each other when we finally get rid of this administration. For the good of the country we will need to take all viable and considered opinions has to how we recover the country. Ego's will need to be controlled. We are going to be in a 'National Emergency' situation, even if the General Election took place in May 2026. On the 'right' (more like two centre parties) sensible and constructive discussions will need to take place even if the Conservatives only got 30 seats.

What the Conservatives will have is some talented people with Government and Cabinet Experience . It is going to be one hell of a fight taking on the combined forces of the Left !

I saw an interview with a rep from one of the unions. It wasn't the one you referenced in your pp, I can't remember the name. It was a union that covered the wider justice system iirc. He called for an immediate halt to the early release programme and directly blamed Labour's push to increase it for the huge increase in accidental release. He didn't have anything positive to say about the changes Labour have made, and called for them to stop and take stock.

I was interested in your thoughts as to whether anything had improved since Labour took office, other than your pay.

Anyway, I'm derailing the thread. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
