Labour isn't working - Thread 19

TheNuthatch · 13/11/2025 20:08

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

We are bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Part of me does wonder if this is why MN have had a change of heart about addressing forum behaviour. They are after all driven by money, they are a business! The really world is VERY anti Labour right now. People are concerned about welfare, immigration etc.

There are plenty of other, revenue driven forums you can have these conversations like grown ups. With points of view from both sides without all the histrionics and bullying,

The public opinion is only going to get stronger and stronger. Having a forum where a core group of posters run everyone off threads isn’t a good look. Plus, I hate to say it, people who earn money will be some of their biggest earners, affiliate wise. They will be the ones clicking and spending on big ticket items. People who earn a good living have all but been driven off the forum by the vocal minority.

I’m not sure if anyone was here during Covid but it was ridiculous then. The piling on and mockery was insanity. It’s pretty much carried on from there.

No I wasn’t but I can imagine.

They deserve it back in spadefuls.

It’s interesting to see the nastiness threads now as there’s zero awareness.

It will be hitting their finances for sure. Apart from this thread, you can’t discuss anything sensibly on here. It’s a pile on of tag teaming and abuse. You can’t have a serious conversation without being accused of being a child/pensioner killer. It’s nuts.

Public sentiment is strong. It’s clear it’s heading in one direction. People can’t discuss real fears without being shut down and run off the forums here. That will hit the bottom line of the site.

High earners who will be providing nice sums of affiliate commission are run of threads and are hated. MN posters are in the minority there. Many are concerned about welfare, immigration etc. They aren’t say on cushy public sector final salary pensions or never ending welfare.

It was really, really bad. There were a number of posters who managed to elevate "condescending cow" to a high art form. And they felt like they had the upper hand, with all the lovely new rules.

I was stressed to the point of migraines because we'd lost all our income, posted saying as much on whatever thread it was and get ripped apart by a bunch of people calling us tax dodgers.

*edited to add I actually wanted to use a slightly different c word than cow but am mindful that we have differing sensibilities when it comes to swearing like a sailor.

Paul2023 · 16/11/2025 19:09

I’ve never voted Labour but working in HMPPS. But I’m probably slightly better under Labour aren’t I ?
Under Labour I’ve received two pay rises.

The conservatives closed about 20 prisons and also tried to privatise many others. Thankfully it didn’t materialise.

We must keep public services ran by the public sector- I feel strongly on that.

100% - couldn’t agree more, really.

Rexinasaurus · 16/11/2025 19:11

Also the women’s rights vs gender woo crap. They were hideous then, to anyone who stood up for women. That’s actually when I found the fwb- like an oasis in the quagmire of gender woo no debate stonewall bullshit. That was probably mostly the same posters too. Some different names but I recognise them. Was Adam, Scarlett etc then. And some names the same now. Same old bullying nasty herd mentality.

Love how women’s rights won - and now Labour are losing.,

redange · 16/11/2025 19:22

If posters on this site (apart from the die hard's) are considered 'intelligent', not prone to act with haste, consider that our way of life, is under threat from this administration, what do those in'General Society' believe. What are they likely to be capable of if this Government does not stop trying to change 300 years of the British way of life !

I'm beginning to wonder if some of them would enjoy a Reform win.
They can't get out of that opposition mindset of fighting against rather than fighting for, even though Labour are now in power.

This is SO accurate. Labour doing SUCH a bad job of governing, the old guard are internally begging for a Reform win to a) take the heat off and b) vent some outrage on.

bleating lame defences and then hastily talking about cats and hunting down tiny snippets of pr from gov.uk probably isn’t so fun.

fair enough. I don’t want Labour winning the next election either.

Remember that an element of your two pay awards, and any future increases, will be reduced given that Labour have frozen the tax thresholds until April, 2028.

The conservatives were shit on prisons, and they left a mess. Funding for prisons seems to always be at the bottom of the list. I was hounded off a prisons thread recently so I'm kean to hear your thoughts.
What do you think of the increase in early release that Labour have implemented? Has anything improved so far? I keep reading that there is a correlation between the big increase in early release, and the increase in accidental release.

Allies of Angela Rayner say the former deputy prime minister will seek to renew her public profile in the coming months and would be likely to run in a future leadership contest.

In her first major interview this weekend, Rayner condemned the “arrogant tittle-tattle” and Labour infighting dominating the past week. Rayner, often considered as a potential successor to Keir Starmer, declined to rule out running for the job or returning to frontline politics, saying she had “not gone away”.

However, those close to Rayner, who had been seen as a frontrunner to succeed Starmer until her shock resignation over underpaid stamp duty, say she was significantly shaken by the impact on her family. They said that would be the key factor over whether she would run and that it was nonsense that she was plotting any imminent challenge.

What are your thoughts on the theory about releasing the majority of female prisoners to make space?

The post about MN nastiness is kind of case in point. For a long time now, you have not been able to discuss ANYTHING without a pile on and tag teaming. People are so socially unaware that it’s them that are doing it.

It’s all turned into, oh the poor left. The mean right. But what about the disabled.

For a long time now, you’ve not been able to discuss the large welfare bill and the nation’s finance without being picked on, tag teamed, abused and frankly lied about. Discussing the welfare bill on here and state spending? You hate all disabled people, want work houses and are saying mean nasty things.

Same for if you have negative experience with immigration, insert multiple, highly offensive names and accusations.

The left on MN cannot see they have created such a toxic place and generally, people outside of MN don’t hold their views. It’s all so self righteous and toxic.

Yep, spot on.
The deleted posts on that thread spoke volumes. Obviously I can't repeat here.

The publics memory isn't that short, she only resigned 2 months ago and the stamp duty shenanigans still isnt resolved. Combine that with the current public opinion towards Labour, bringing Rayner back would be a huge mistake.

So on that basis, and current form, it will probably be her and Ed Milliband fighting it out for the top job.

Agreed, if it transpires that Rayner really is the best candidate to be PM, then this country is royally screwed - I mean irredeemably beyond repair, switch off the lights on the way out kind of wrecked.

Remember, if you can imagine it - it can happen, with this lot.

Just call an election Keir !
The public want one , so it won’t happen of course :(

had enough of that with the Conservative merry go round for years!)

It can via the MPs but the markets will go nuts I reckon.
