Labour isn't working - Thread 19

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

We are bracing for the budget 😬

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

DM, so…

Residents chanted 'Starmer out' as thousands attended a protest against plans to house 600 lone male asylum seekers at an army camp on the edge of their town.

Crowborough army training camp in East Sussex has been lined up to house the refugees as part of Labour's bid to reduce the use of asylum hotels.

Locals said they have already installed panic alarms in their homes amid safety fears, while raising concerns about the 600 migrants registering with GPs in the county, with some already struggling to book appointments.

Today's march, which around 2,000 people attended, followed an angry public meeting where local politicians were shouted at and chased out of the community centre hall on Thursday night.

Residents walked through the town with their children to demand the government drops its plan to use the army camp for male migrants.

We;;- Labourites are still talking about how Maggie Thatcher stole milk from little children......

Reeves just taxes them instead

Good for them. They have every right to be furious. Who would want to live near that base?

I burst out laughing when I read about the milkshake tax (I've reached the laugh or I'll cry stage).
As a pp said, I'd prefer actual sugar over the chemical crap the drinks company will replace it with.

Totes, as young people say.

It’s good to see people on the streets - we have been way too apathetic in this country.

Nanalovesnature · 16/11/2025 17:43

I didn't vote labour, I voted conservative which I knew was a wasted vote where I love in Scotland. SNP got in again where I live and will probably get in next time too. I am just wondering how the people who voted Labour and for Keir Starmer are feeling now, 16 months down the line, with the state that Labour have made of the country and with the appalling plans for the budget that are being leaked.

My real life family and friends all voted Labour, now all regret it. I mean, whats to like about the current government?
As for MN, there are lots of posters still defending them so...🤷‍♂️

Exactly no one does. Not even those for the system as it is. Whether it’s everyone welcome in Wales or Scotland the reality of a barracks is different.

Agree.
I'll have a look for some news on that when I've finishing cooking. I'm glad the locals are taking a stand.

I rather suspect that in the small wee hours, they bitterly regret voting Labour - blinded as they were by their hatred for the Tories.

Not that some of them will ever admit it.

And, if Reform are to be in government next, they will only have themselves to blame.

I think there’s some still adamant Labour are doing well or whatever but it’s pretty much limited to a few on mn

I'm beginning to wonder if some of them would enjoy a Reform win.
They can't get out of that opposition mindset of fighting against rather than fighting for, even though Labour are now in power.

This is soooo true - the old siege mentality.

Akin to the last Japanese soldier marooned on that island, unwilling to surrender 20 years later…

There is some - limited - space for Labour devotees to point to worthwhile things done by this government.

What fucks me off is that these people never gave any credit to anything done by Conservative governments and swallowed and repeated ad nauseam all the lies told about corruption and wrongdoing by Tories.

So, stuff the Labour die-hards. This government is generally abysmal and deserves ridicule.

The rabid ones, would never allow their toxic self righteous mindset to regret voting for Labour. Other normal Labour voters do though.

Reform won’t win the next GE. Their flame will have fizzled out by then. The fact that they are useless and fck up all they are in charge of, will sink in over the next few years (if not before).

Been outdoors most of the day and it has turned flipping freezing out round here! 🥶

Yep. Live by the sword and all that

Labour are feeling it

They are still maintaining on certain threads (!) Labour would have been ok if it wasn’t for the right wing media having an agenda. As if people can’t make up their own minds.

(Evening all, been absent from MN today as largely spent either cooking or at local ice rink with DDs. Lots going on news wise - wonder what fresh budget horror Labour will come up with tomorrow).

And they're exceptionally disparaging about this thread (or some are)!

Like it's somehow our fault that their beloved Labour are piss poor in government. We only talk about it, we haven't caused it! 🤷‍♀️

Ikr it’s totally ridiculous and lacking in basic logic.

If someone said don’t use that builder your house will fall down and it falls down it’s not the person who warned you that’s the issue.

It won’t go in, it’s completely bizarre. Labour are shite, that’s the problem.

Legolava · 16/11/2025 18:31

The post about MN nastiness is kind of case in point. For a long time now, you have not been able to discuss ANYTHING without a pile on and tag teaming. People are so socially unaware that it’s them that are doing it.

It’s all turned into, oh the poor left. The mean right. But what about the disabled.

For a long time now, you’ve not been able to discuss the large welfare bill and the nation’s finance without being picked on, tag teamed, abused and frankly lied about. Discussing the welfare bill on here and state spending? You hate all disabled people, want work houses and are saying mean nasty things.

Same for if you have negative experience with immigration, insert multiple, highly offensive names and accusations.

The left on MN cannot see they have created such a toxic place and generally, people outside of MN don’t hold their views. It’s all so self righteous and toxic.

I’ve never understood these complaints about the right wing media. The Guardian and Mirror are just as available as the Daily Mail and the Telegraph and there are numerous online sites of every political colour.
The public are not forced to read right wing news, and as you say, anyway they can make up their own minds.

@Legolavayep I saw those threads and similar posts and just clicked off. Pointless.

There’s a reason this thread was set up.

Well what would they do if they couldn’t complain about the media and ‘the right wing’. Without that they have nothing bless them. Because there is nothing of substance or worthwhile in their luggage.

All they’ve got is other indoctrinated cult members, and their ability to criticise and heap blame on, ‘the right wing’.

Parallels with the nasty economically illiterate Labour devotees, and the Trump administration and their eg. ‘fake news’ accusations, are quite alarming really.
