Is anyone else worried about Sara Cox?

She looks broken! I’m really worried about her. This is an extreme challenge and I’m questioning why we need to watch someone suffer and struggle for charity?
I’m in awe and admiration of her, but I also want to give her a HOT bath and tuck her into a big cosy bed with a gallon of tea and a dozen hot buttered crumpets.
Is it just me?

Why the fuck has she only had 10 weeks’ training?! That’s nuts.

Anon501178 · 13/11/2025 21:41

Yes i really can't stand the way they put these celebrities through hell for charity.....surely there is a better way they can raise money without seriously risking their health. They used to do different things i'm sure.

I know nothing about this as I don't have a TV but as a slight tangent I always wonder at the mindset of people who only donate money to the less fortunate when someone on the TV tells them to... It's really quite bizarre.

Schools should not have the enforced send a pound for the yellow bear, I fundamentally disagree with these sorts of charities.

Ditto people asking folks they know to sponsor them for shaving their head/walking somewhere/sitting in a bath of baked beans.. I find it really illogical, what they really want is to say, for example, I love dogs so I am going to try to emotionally manipulate people into giving money to a dog charity I care about. Most people don't feel like they can refuse cus it's 'for chaarity' but there are many people like me I assume, who give to causes close to their heart but wouldn't dream of a asking others to donate to these causes.

I think people should be aware how incredibly rude it is to ask other people to sponsor them for anything, especially in the workplace where some people feel like they can't refuse - if you feel that strongly about a cause put your hand in your own pocket, don't try to guilt trip others while polishing your halo as I'm pretty sure nobody is impressed and actually probably quite resentful but don't feel like they can say anything!

Children in Need is a bit of an odd one in the British TV landscape, inspired by American TV telethons (beloved of the ever so slightly dodgy bible channels over there). ITV had its rival ITV telethon for a bit in the 90's, but sensibly gave up.

I already give £170 a year to the beeb, they can take my donation out of that!

I’ve met her. Twice. And she was not nice. So, meh…

radio presenter. Undertaking a look at meeee challenge all aren't I so good for undertaking a charity marathon. Charity event that her agent recommended would get her a book deal, podcast and raise her minor celeb status. Because the public won’t give unless there a huge yellow bear and a celeb involved

Um. She already has written books, she has a podcast and has been presenting radio and TV for what, 30 years?

if she wanted to ‘boost’ her career in the way you’re saying she’d be on I’m a celeb or strictly. Sara Cox isn’t a minor celebrity.

It’s work place bullying! Poor Sara. Shes nearly done now.

Good lord it’s not. It’s something she’s done to try and get a bit more fame. That’s all she’s ever been about. Ego

RedRec · 13/11/2025 21:47

KidsDoBetter · 13/11/2025 20:47

Brenda love if you don’t know who Sara Cox is it’s v unlikely you will care what’s she’s doing.

🤣 👏

PracticalPixie · 13/11/2025 21:51

I haven't been following this challenge but it sounds very hard! I couldn't even run one marathon.

Eddie Izzard did something similar[ish] a d fucked his kidneys iirc. So I hope she is being well cared for.

It's great she's raising so much money, but it wouldn't encourage me to watch or donate anymore than I would otherwise. It makes me shudder a bit.

Anyway, well done to her and everything but I hope she gets a lot of rest when she finishes

If she’s trying to get a bit more fame why is she doing a challenge which is primarily aired on the radio station she’s already a main presenter for.

She’s already pretty famous. Is a prime time radio 2 presenter, presents the One Show, is an author, has a current podcast.

She’d get much more exposure on one of the million celebrity reality shows like Strictly if that’s what she wanted.

BluebelIe · 13/11/2025 21:52

What’s she doing?

AndreaMarvell · 13/11/2025 21:53

madaboutpurple · 13/11/2025 20:37

Vernon and Paddy put the idea forward and I say Shame on them I really do. In future any of radio 2 presenters who suggest an extreme way of cash raising should be told Go ahead then do it yourself. I reckon they would immediately suggest a return of a 24 hour effort. I felt for her when she was upset.

Is it coincidence that they're all from Bolton or is that just random?

Newyearnewmewoooop · 13/11/2025 21:54

I didn’t know about this but just looked on her insta stories and it made me cry! I love Sarah cox. Good on her, some of these posts on this thread are mental.

Frostynoman · 13/11/2025 21:55

Yes! I’ve been wondering why she’s had the absolute toughest challenge yet, it’s going to be carnage on her body going on from this. Anyone else think Vernons making it a little bit about him and his challenge when they chat?

You think it’s out of the kindness of her heart? Threads like this are the reasons why….pull some heartstrings, fan base.

As I say, she was an arsehole when I vaguely knew her but that was a while ago

Wreckinball · 13/11/2025 21:56

It’s not always mind over matter and I hope she can listen to her body and not cause lasting damage- walking to the end is fine

Why does anyone do charity challenges. I’m sure most people have different reasons but as you see from this thread unless you listen to radio 2 it’s unlikely you’ll know she’s doing it- so it’s unlikely to be fame. No idea if she’s an arse in real life but I like her radio persona.

Of course it didn’t work like that. It’s a business decision. Someone will have conceived it, they’d have worked out who would do it and who would ‘come up’ with the idea. People are so naive here. These are big money making machines, not small fry

User19977999 · 13/11/2025 21:58

It's wild that people are trying to drag her down on this post. She's pushed through health issues and trained for ages to raise a ton of money for charity. The fact that she's already fit just shows her next-level dedication. She's doing an amazing thing, and this kind of negativity is exactly why people say Tattle is better than this site…

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 13/11/2025 21:58

I have no idea how she is actually doing this. She has been set a challenge and is absolutely crushing it.

I've never been a massive fan but can honestly say I think she is amazing.

She can have all the experts in the world telling her how to do this or giving advice, but the fact is, she is the one doing it.

Some of the posts on here are frankly bizarre. Just goes to prove that a lot of women hate women.

KidsDoBetter · 13/11/2025 20:51

Are you quite well!? She’s got a v successful podcast, a v high profile job and has published at least a couple of books already. I really dont think the narrative that she’s some fame hungry wannabe washes in this particular case. Despite aspirational heights of the One Show 😂😂😂

She’s doing something really really hard to raise money for charity. It’s that simple.

Exactly.
When her career had stalled after having children she wrote to eminent people in her industry that she admired (notably Jonathan Ross and Richard Madeley) for advice on how to work her way back. And did it, with their mentorship and her sheer determination. She is very, very successful and accomplished and is not doing this challenge to be even more famous. She is most definitely not a fame-hungry wannabe.
Her radio show is not to my personal taste but I really admire her grit and determination.

Mine neither, I can't listen

but I really admire her grit and determination.
Yes definitely me too. But could she have done something else, less punishing but equally admirable?

You keep saying that, but in what way? Or just vague allusions.

Does it? Does disliking one woman mean you’re a woman hater? It’s actually a really really misogynistic take on things. Dismissing ‘cat fighting’ women. You should be ashamed
