Is anyone else worried about Sara Cox?

She looks broken! I’m really worried about her. This is an extreme challenge and I’m questioning why we need to watch someone suffer and struggle for charity?
I’m in awe and admiration of her, but I also want to give her a HOT bath and tuck her into a big cosy bed with a gallon of tea and a dozen hot buttered crumpets.
Is it just me?

I think tomorrow will be really tough for her, I live fairly locally and there is a REALLY flipping steep hill on her route - all the local Facebook groups are commenting on it being a poor choice of route - I certainly wouldn’t be walking up it! I hope she’ll be okay.

the80sweregreat · 13/11/2025 20:33

Sara cox is doing a challenge for the bbc ‘ children in need’ appeal and running five marathons in five days.

I’m with you. We don’t need to break to people for charity. Couldn’t she have just ridden around on a milk float, achieved much the same thing and not need a hip replacement at the end of it.

Oh please, she’s not walking THAT far.

It’s work place bullying! Poor Sara. Shes nearly done now.

She chose to do it.

i'm impressed with her - hugely impressed, but some of these posts are really odd.

madaboutpurple · 13/11/2025 20:37

Vernon and Paddy put the idea forward and I say Shame on them I really do. In future any of radio 2 presenters who suggest an extreme way of cash raising should be told Go ahead then do it yourself. I reckon they would immediately suggest a return of a 24 hour effort. I felt for her when she was upset.

Indeed she isn't.

Quite a lot of it she's running or jogging.

Who is she and what’s she doing?

radio presenter. Undertaking a look at meeee challenge all aren't I so good for undertaking a charity marathon. Charity event that her agent recommended would get her a book deal, podcast and raise her minor celeb status. Because the public won’t give unless there a huge yellow bear and a celeb involved

Go on then

Matsukaze · 13/11/2025 20:41

Only had training for 10 weeks and not a runner. Kudos to her. I can't imagine running 1 marathon after 10 weeks training, let alone 5.

BadgernTheGarden · 13/11/2025 20:41

No one forced her to do it and she can stop any time. If she wants to complete it good on her.

If she's not fit enough she really should have trained more, she must have realised it was a long way or did she think it would be fudged and she'd do most of it in the back of a van? She'll dine out on it for years and we'll hear about how hard it was endlessly and probably a book deal to boot, me cynical nooo!

Didn't they do the last two years 5 day challenges?

CoffeeLipstickKeys · 13/11/2025 20:46

Come on, she (and her agent) know she’ll get visibility, the one show and a book deal out of this

Brenda love if you don’t know who Sara Cox is it’s v unlikely you will care what’s she’s doing.

miuri · 13/11/2025 20:48

storm Claudia is hitting and will be torrential rain tomorrow. I wouldn’t want to put the bins out in that…

Are you quite well!? She’s got a v successful podcast, a v high profile job and has published at least a couple of books already. I really dont think the narrative that she’s some fame hungry wannabe washes in this particular case. Despite aspirational heights of the One Show 😂😂😂

She’s doing something really really hard to raise money for charity. It’s that simple.

Clearinguptheclutter · 13/11/2025 20:51

I am a runner and recently completed my first marathon after training pretty much all year

she’s doing five days of this with 10 weeks of training from pretty much scratch. I don’t quite know how she’s managing. Amazing. I do hope she wasn’t bullied into doing it.

RedLorryYellowLorryRedLorryYellow · 13/11/2025 20:52

It's like that film They Shoot Horses Don't They. All a bit extreme. Think I preferred it when it was just Terry reading out all the tax dodges donations of a morning. It's not entertaining watching someone suffer, for me.

StillCreatingAName · 13/11/2025 20:52

I’m sure you mean well, but tbh this is giving off ‘number one fan’ vibes.

DisforDarkChocolate · 13/11/2025 20:52

The weather is horrible up here, I really feel for her.

Can they reward her with the Breakfast show for doing this please?

Vitriolinsanity · 13/11/2025 20:53

Weirdly I find my affection for her growing simply because she’s making no bones about how utterly awful it is. She tries to do all the “it’s great people are cheering” crap, but she’s obviously hating every minute just like a normal human would.

Beentheretoolong · 13/11/2025 20:53

TheBeaTgoeson1 · 13/11/2025 20:36

135 miles in 5 days? Seems pretty far on foot to me. How much do you do in a day, every day for 5 days?

CurlewKate · 13/11/2025 20:54

Or we could sponsor missiles and tanks? Or-and here’s a unique idea- shove a few pence on income tax….

Shadesofscarlett · 13/11/2025 20:54

I think she is brilliant - and showing her vulnerability and struggle makes her more likeable.
