Vinted sizing changes

Just having a scroll through Vinted and noticed they have changed their sizing categories. Handy in some ways but think it could be a pain in the bum looking for some items. I am a 10 so previously M but M is now 12-14 which makes more sense in real life but listings will be all over the place now. Not had any notifications come through about the changes and whether listings will update automatically or if we have to manually do it (selling).

Just look for or ask for label photos before you buy. Problem solved.

But then S would be 8-10? Some people might find that either too big or too small. If the size below that was 4-6 I'd struggle to know which of those two to get, as I am mainly an 8 but sometimes a 6.

It’s a real nuisance. It’s automatically changed all the sizing on my listings. I always include a photo of the size label and always ask for one anyway, but a lot of people don’t include them in photos.

I just noticed that, I have put my page on holiday mode while I go through and update my listings as they are all wrong now.

Put actual measurements on your description.

I noticed this but when I went to update my 'preferences' the old categories are still there so wonder if it is an error.

I was looking for 14 . Says 14/16 but the dresses I clicked on had 12 labels. I'm buying new anyway was just browsing. I've bought lots off there before I won't be bothering now.

They have automatically changed the sizes of everything I have listed to XL 20-22 yet all my stuff is size 14. I’m going through the items to change it to the correct size. If sellers don’t notice, their items aren’t going to show up in the correct searches. And if buyers don’t ask / check, they will receive the items that are a different size to they think they have ordersd

Something is obviously amiss.

What’s sensible about changing a seller’s listed items from size 14 to size 20-22?! And actually not that helpful for buyers. I only want to see size 14 not 12 as well so have to scroll through lots of things that aren’t my size as the filtering is on 12-14 not just 14

@SomethingInTheAirToday Can you explain a bit more about why it's more sensible? I buy and sell. As a buyer, I want to search for a single size. At the moment, everything in the dual size band that I am forced to select is coming up as the size I don't want. I want size 14s, but pretty much everything is a size 12, and the only way of finding out is to individually check each item's listing for an image of the label. So it takes so much longer to identify if an item is of interest to me, and the vast majority of the search results I am getting are not of interest to me as they are the wrong size.

Plus at the moment, because the size category on existing listings was changed automatically, a lot of what's coming up in the 12-14 category is actually size 10s! So, I want 14s but what I am shown via searching is mainly 12s or even 10s with no way of refining the search. As a result I have totally given up browsing, so Vinted will be missing out on purchases.

Did they give any warning of this? I placed 2 orders a couple of days ago and yesterday when I went to check on delivery status the descriptions had been updated so for a horrible moment I thought I’d ordered the wrong sizes. Luckily the sellers had included pics of the labels showing the real sizes so I know they are fine but it’s really confusing.

@ChiaraRimini I had no warning of it, and I sell and have active listings. I read a news article about this today and a Vinted spokesperson said that people would have had a message about it, but I most definitely did not. I found out from another Mumsnet thread about it yesterday.

Yeah it’s annoying as a buyer. If I search for S(8-10) only I may be missing out on items previously listed as a M (10)
But if I widen my search to include the new medium I’ll have to trawl through everything from an 8 to a 14 and click through the pictures and hope they have included the label.

I think after a few weeks it will settle down and we'll be used to the new sizing.

I'm usually a 10 in trousers and a 12 in tops. Which under the old sizing equated to an M and an L. In most shops, an L is more like a 14-16. So the new sizing makes more sense. But a photo of the label showing the actual size is the best bet.

Are they trying to drop the uk market?

It's ridiculous, used to love shopping on there but now they have ruined it. Silly decision of theirs.

I don’t understand this. It’s never occurred to me they have some blanket sizing rule but rather I assumed that the size relates to the brand you’re buying.

for example I have loads of saved farm Rio. A 12 is a M and a14 a L. Today all my saved items have changed to say they are size 20-22. I doubt farm Rio even makes that size ?!?

I did have a message notification in the app yesterday. I went and checked my listings and the had all been changed from size 14 to 20-22! I had to manually edit them all back to the correct sizing.
@Bambamhoohoo the sellers have probably not looked and changed their listings yet?
