Vinted sizing changes

MyMyDelilah · 10/11/2025 09:23

Just having a scroll through Vinted and noticed they have changed their sizing categories. Handy in some ways but think it could be a pain in the bum looking for some items. I am a 10 so previously M but M is now 12-14 which makes more sense in real life but listings will be all over the place now. Not had any notifications come through about the changes and whether listings will update automatically or if we have to manually do it (selling).

I don't understand how anyone could get used to this - I'm a 16 or L in brands I buy. Vinted is showing me size 24-26 items that turn out to be size 16 on the label. It just doesn't make sense. I'm not going to be searching for size 24 clothes!

LushLemonTart · 11/11/2025 22:15

I've given up and bought a new coat online at new look for £44 with blue light card discount 15% off. I can take it back easily if it doesn't fit/ or don't like it.

LushLemonTart · 11/11/2025 23:59

Blc discount wad 25% off. Short term offer.

The change is not only incredibly frustrating when it comes up searching (I am a 14-16 depending on brand /style and so am having to search across 2 categories and 4 sizes, even without factoring in all the unamended postings that include 10s and 12s).

But something has also gone wrong with the algorithm in what I’m being “shown” on the home page of recently uploaded items. I am only getting size 20-22, even though I search and favourite 14s and 16s. It makes it almost un-usable as a shop window.

All my items for sale (around 70 as I’ve lost weight and having a massive clear-out) had been reclassified as anything from 26 - 32 so have had to edit all those to the correct 16, 18 or 20 sizing. Anything that has been purchased, I’ve double-checked with the buyer that they know the size they’re getting!

SilenceInside · 13/11/2025 09:31

@RubyJuno have you set or updated your Personalisation preferences for Size under your Profile? You can set that to either 12-14 or 16-18 which might help to get rid of the 20-22 category (which was the old Size 14 category).

RubyJuno · 13/11/2025 09:38

@SilenceInside thank you, you’re right, that had amended itself - I forgot I had ever set that, I just assumed it “learned” from my search history!

Although I think it still does a bit of that. One search for a Harry Potter lego set and I can’t get away from endless cloaks and wands!

SilenceInside · 13/11/2025 09:40

Oh definitely it pulls in things like that as well. I have learnt from clicking on items out of curiosity that my feed gets derailed in this way for ages!

HoldyHandy · 13/11/2025 18:35

It's very annoying! Stuff I have put in my favourites are now showing medium 12-14 and they are a size 10. When looking at a small which is 8-10 most things are an 8..

I want to look at size 10 items! Think I'll keep off vinted for a while until everything is a little more organised!

LevelOneAgain · 10/11/2025 09:24

Just look for or ask for label photos before you buy. Problem solved.

Yep. I always ask this.

StrongLikeMamma · 14/11/2025 08:38

I messaged their social media. Here’s what they said:

Hey! We’ve updated our size guidelines for women’s and kids’ clothing to make sizing more accurate across international brands. This should make it easier for everybody! Please check to make sure all of your items are still accurate, you can also find full details on our Help Centre - 💚

So basically everyone has to change all listings or they won’t come up as the right size. They hadn’t thought to mention this. Twats!

SilenceInside · 14/11/2025 09:35

They don't even understand that there's two issues, and it definitely isn't more accurate. There's the issue of all the listing sizes being automatically changed and therefore fucked up until each seller updates each listing manually. Then, even when that's sorted out, you are still forced to list the item in a two-size category. Which is clearly less accurate!! Twice as many search results returned and no way of filtering out the 50% that aren't the size that you want.

But you now have to trawl through eg all the 12s as well as 14s. Takes far too long now It‘s crackers

Agreed. I don’t see how changing your size preferences or checking the labels stops the issue of being returned thousands of the wrong size items.

how can a uk 14 becoming a size 20-21 be international sizing?!? Especially for a brand that doesn’t make that size?

the only saving grace is the algorithm does seem to adapt well, but I already did the work to get my home page loooking the way I wanted 😂

On the plus side, their ‘helpful’ update has saved me loads of money. Which is unfortunate as I’ve lost weight and need to replenish my wardrobe.

I just can’t figure it out. It’s awful. Their reply to my complaint was just a generic reply. Surely this is costing them a lot of money in lost commissions?

Welliesandpyjamas · 14/11/2025 13:15

As someone else said upthread, it is absolute chaos! Badly thought out and likely to lose them a lot of UK trade. It’s totally put me off bothering with it now. I’m tempted to go back to ebay!

LushLemonTart · 14/11/2025 14:06

I got this reply to an email. Where would I even begin? 🤣

I was thinking the same! At least it’s stopped me spending 🤣🤣🤣

Also thinking I’m going to write the actual size in the title. So it’s clear.

That would be a big help. Clicking through to search each item listing for clues about the size is really laborious

Yes I’ve been doing that while I’ve been editing to correct the sizing

Teethhelp · 15/11/2025 10:10

It's painful. Browsing brings up double the results and it's very disappointing to have to go into the listing to find out thay the item is too small :( takes all the fun out of it.

Worse, I listed a lot of items on Thursday and I've never had such low views, favourites and my sales are atrocious.

LushLemonTart · 15/11/2025 12:38

I've just ordered some jeans from Tu to pick up at Argos. I tried vinted again it was laughable. These jeans were only 20 with blc dissy. I think I've been put off vinted totally now.
And again they'll be easier to return. And new.

VanCleefArpels · 15/11/2025 13:03

The reason they’ve done it is they have - mystifyingly- decided to open up Vinted to purchasers in the USA so they had to change the sizing definitions to suit that market. I cannot fathom why anyone would want to order cheap second hand stuff from across the Atlantic and seems to me to be contrary to the ethos of Vinted (as I understood it) which was to be a sustainable way to avoid things going to landfill. It’s a cluster shambles which will have alienated thousands of loyal customers

Northernladdette · 15/11/2025 13:10

I noticed this a couple of days ago. I emailed Vinted and they replied to delete and re install the app, clear cookies/caches etc. I re installed the app, it was still the same. I then googled the error to find out about the sizing changes. I emailed them back explaining I had found the cause. This whole scenario was ridiculous in itself.

Not sure what the thinking behind it is🤷‍♀️
I will continue to use it but put the actual size in the title line and a photograph of the size label.
