Vinted sizing changes

Just having a scroll through Vinted and noticed they have changed their sizing categories. Handy in some ways but think it could be a pain in the bum looking for some items. I am a 10 so previously M but M is now 12-14 which makes more sense in real life but listings will be all over the place now. Not had any notifications come through about the changes and whether listings will update automatically or if we have to manually do it (selling).

I've just looked at this and yes it's dreadful!

The reason they’ve done it is they have - mystifyingly- decided to open up Vinted to purchasers in the USA so they had to change the sizing definitions to suit that market. I cannot fathom why anyone would want to order cheap second hand stuff from across the Atlantic and seems to me to be contrary to the ethos of Vinted (as I understood it) which was to be a sustainable way to avoid things going to landfill. It’s a cluster shambles which will have alienated thousands of loyal customers

So the how will we know if a size is US or UK? Insanity!

I’ve just sent this to Vinted

I want to record my complete opposition to your opening up to the USA market. Not least because of the ridiculous changes you have made to UK sizing categories which makes finding items far more difficult. I do not wish to trade internationally - this goes completely against the sustainability ethos behind Vinted. By all means open up your service within the US but creating unnecessary international parcel journeys is not progress.

@VanCleefArpels I have just sent a very similar message with the same sentiment via their Feedback page, in response to their email today where they state that US trading will be coming on line. It's not something that I want to support at all.

VanCleefArpels · 19/11/2025 11:11

So the response from Vinted merely sets out the process / fees etc for buying/selling to USA, doesn’t tackle the issues of sustainability or sizing. Doubt a human actually read it. I would urge everyone to make their views known on this - you never know they might listen!

So it seems that US sellers are now heavily onstream. You can easily spot the US sellers because the prices for items are not round numbers, as a result of the USD->GBP exchange. If you look at the screenshot below you can see that 7 out of the first 8 search results on the page are US sellers. The other is a UK bumped item. The prices are all odd pence like £5.43 and £9.13. And of course brands that I've mostly never heard of.

This was using the menu to select Women -> Clothing -> Dresses -> All and then filtering by a size category (12-14), condition, and some colours.

I honestly wonder why the powers that be at Vinted think UK users would risk buying things from the US in terms of fit and brand awareness?

Acornsoup · 20/11/2025 16:34

I can’t be bothered with it now. Waiting for my last few thing to arrive and then deleting the app. Vinted have had long enough to sort it out now.

cloudjumper · 20/11/2025 16:36

It’s doing my head. I’m a size 14, or an L. Just that! But according to Vinted, a 14 is M, and L is 16-18 🤯😖
