If you could have one lot of free cosmetic surgery ..

.. what would it be?

Mine would be liposuction on my legs, I’m fairly sure I have lipedema and I hate them. I’ve lost over 5st and still hate my legs, especially my thighs.

I’m not interested in any other work, can’t imagine having anything done with my face etc but would have something done with my legs in a heart beat.

Nothing, I hate my nose, but I'm not willing to risk my health and being there for my child for the sake of something unnecessary. I understand most ops are fine, but I just wouldn't take the risk.

There's about a 0.001 chance of dying in a rhinoplasty surgery.
The chances of dying in childbirth / c section are 0.002.

so basically even though both are vanishingly small, you're got more chance of dying during childbirth.

TheendofmrY · 09/11/2025 09:27

Same as you OP. My self esteem’s pretty decent but if your cosmetic surgery fairy godmother paid me a visit I’d have liposuction on my (also suspected lipoedema) legs. It’d be nice to know what it’s like to have ankles Grin

Good job I'm not planning on any more children then 😁

NippyNinjaCrab · 09/11/2025 09:32

If I could have one thing and little or no recovery time 😂 i would have some lipo on my tummy.

Gettingbysomehow · 09/11/2025 09:38

Im having a facelift in May. Im 63 and sagging jowels have given me resting bitch face. I've already had a breast uplift. I don't dream, if I want something enough I make it happen even if it means working 7 days a week to do that.
Im going to Lithuania where I went before. They have a fantastic clinic there much cheaper than UK.

SliceofTosst · 09/11/2025 09:56

Neck and lower face lift please.

People with good self esteem don't look at themselves in the mirror and want to change bits of themselves with surgery.

That is seeing themselves as inadequate.

People with good self esteem accept themselves as good enough as they are without the need for surgery.

Well why don't you take your good self esteem and toddle off and make your own thread about how great you are and leave us self loathing harridans to our hypothetical?

ruethewhirl · 09/11/2025 12:05

Upper arms tightened. They're a disaster area after years of yo-yo dieting followed by a 3st weight loss. Glad I finally got the weight off, but I miss being able to wear sleeveless tops.

Gottocopebymyself · 09/11/2025 05:55

If it is a medical condition then that is a different thing altogethe and OP presenting it as " cosmetic" surgery is very misleading.

Who cares whether its termed cosmetic surgery or not, get over yourself.

Ive had something removed on the NHS recently, technically it comes under the category of cosmetic but there was also a clinical need.

The NHS very very rarely operate for lymphedema, they're not interested unless you're bed bound and even then they cant give a toss.

RaraRachael · 09/11/2025 12:28

I've got fairly good self esteem but I still hate my huge boobs especially as they were average size then for no reason in my 50s they morphed into barrage balloons.

I also hate my poor eyesight but can't do anything about that.

Nothing to do with self esteem.

I'n just thankful that I'm still here as there are plenty of younger people who aren't.

DiscoBob · 09/11/2025 12:34

I'm hopefully getting a septoplasty on the NHS to correct my deviated septum I got due to DV. But I'd ideally want a rhinoplasty also to correct the shape/size of the tip of my nose and my nostrils. I'm presuming that won't be part of what I get so I would go with that.

I really don't think I'd go with anything else. Maybe a facelift but right now I don't think my face is that saggy and ancient looking.

My body I'm alright with. Boobs could be perkier but they're small and dense so not majorly saggy. Yet!

SpottyAardvark · 09/11/2025 12:39

I genuinely wouldn’t, even if it was completely free and the surgeon was an acknowledged expert in their field. All surgery involves an element of risk. General anaesthetics involve an element of risk. To me, those risks are simply not worth taking just for the sake of my appearance.

I look the way I look, and that’s fine. I have many faults, but shallowness & vanity are not among them.

Kuretake · 09/11/2025 12:43

I don't think its fair to say people unhappy with how they look are shallow or vain. I have come to terms with my face, a sort of radical acceptance. I'm still objectively ugly and I am treated worse because of it. If I could fix that with a magic wand I would. If I could, as an alternative, fix society so ugly people were not also assumed to be stupid or unpleasant then I'd rather do that.

Shizzlestix · 09/11/2025 13:36

My bingo wings! They are very big/embarassing. I certainly wouldn’t wear a short sleeved top. I’ve done my research and I know where I’d go, but life is not conducive to it right now so if I do ever get it done, I’d need to wait a couple of years. If I still have the funds, I’d probably do it.

Allseeingallknowing · 09/11/2025 14:20

RaraRachael · 09/11/2025 07:27

Is it true you can only have a 2 cup size reduction? Mine are 36GG so 36EE would still be too big for my liking
I used to be 36B. Goodness knows what happened 😳

HRT?that’s what made mine balloon. I hade a reduction going from 42FF to 40D

RaraRachael · 09/11/2025 15:16

No I've never been on HRT @Allseeingallknowing . I'm completely baffled!

DirtyBird · 09/11/2025 16:10

Ooooo so many things lol

inner thigh lift
face lift
lip filler
lipo back and sides and upper stomach
hair transplant

RememberBeKindWithKaren · 09/11/2025 16:20

@cityanalyst678 oh thanks, yes I'll look that up 😃

dynamiccactus · 09/11/2025 16:31

In reality I would never do it. It doesn't make you look younger, it just makes you look like you've had work done - and there are not insignificant risks.

But it would be nice to magic away my dark circles/eye bags.

dynamiccactus · 09/11/2025 16:32

Friendlyfart · 08/11/2025 22:17

Plus a mole removal in face but years ago a GP told me the scarring would look worse than the mole.

I'd get a second opinion. I had two moles removed in my 20s and you have to look really hard for the scars.

(edited to confirm they were on my face)

@dynamiccactus Same here. A plastic surgeon can do an excellent job, it healed quickly and I really can’t see a scar (removed about 15 years ago).

evilharpy · 09/11/2025 19:44

Interesting, I have a mole at the top of my eyebrow that I dislike but was worried about the scarring. I might look into it.

If I was allowed to fix one thing for free it would be whatever you call the type of liposuction used to treat lipodema. I would love my legs to be in proportion to the rest of me. Then if I had normal sized legs I'd pay for excess skin removal (from weight loss). I really don't have loads but my stomach is no longer tight and my thighs and arse are a bit baggy and would be worse after liposuction, and as I'm mid 40s I don't think they are likely to tighten up much by themselves. Even if I could only afford legs and not stomach that would still be great.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 09/11/2025 20:42

It's not possible, but I'd love to have smaller feet. Size 9 is a PITA

Another person saying it’s unlikely to be a big scar if at all! There are all sorts of wonderful after surgery lotion and potions you can get given after the fact, as well as things like silicone scar tape. I had a very large surgery on my face for skin cancer and the scars are surprisingly small! Dermatology and plastics are ridiculous with their skill for making scars tiny during removal as well as options after the fact.

compostking · 09/11/2025 21:25

Labiaplasty. I’d lop them off in a heartbeat.
