Where are all the large jars of Marmite?

Is it just my corner of London or is there (gulp) A Shortage? Trying not to panic BUT IT’S BEEN THREE WEEKS NOW (… and breathe). Seriously though we get through the smaller ones so quickly it doesn’t make sense. Plus it doesn’t taste the same from smaller jars. (Stop me if I’m getting too technical.)

(Yes I do have bigger things to think about. But it’s Marmite and therefore worthy of note and query.)

Probably just as well, you’ll need to remortgage to pay for one.

Dianaofthelakeofshiningwaters · 07/11/2025 17:43

One of them is in my cupboard 😁

Greeniscalming · 07/11/2025 17:48

I’ve noticed this recently. I’m extra concerned now because the only Xmas present I have bought so far is a personalised Marmite jar label with DH’s name on it - for a large jar!

christmasideers · 07/11/2025 17:57

Have you tried Asda? Only place that sells the big jars round here.

TomatoSandwiches · 07/11/2025 17:58

The coop, just seen one this afternoon.

filka · 07/11/2025 18:20

Did you try Amazon? I can see 500g jars and 600g tubs

IsThisNameTaken · 07/11/2025 18:22

660g tub £5.99 at Costco

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/11/2025 18:36

I have the 600g tubs on subscription from Amazon, 2 every 8 weeks.

KellyWithABigBelly · 07/11/2025 20:53

There’s some kind of shortage. Ocado has been out of stock of all sizes of Marmite for a while.

AmITheLastOne · 07/11/2025 21:36

I miss he chilli marmite. I bought every jar I could find but I ran out a long while ago and now it’s just a distant memory. 😢

Redshoeblueshoe · 07/11/2025 21:41

I bought a 500g one from Sainsburys for £6 recently, then I got another one from Farmfoods for £4. But I hadn't seen any that size for ages.

Nevermind the large jars (got one in my cupboard), where are the Marmite Crisps these days?

StripedPillowcase · 07/11/2025 21:50

My local big Tesco (Greater London) has huge jars in the 'bulk buy' section.

What is the bulk buy section? Intrigued as my local tesco doesn't have one of those

Costco for large marmite for me too, once you've seen how cheap it is for the plastic tub it's impossible to pay jar prices 😂

Zov · 07/11/2025 21:59

They do LARGE jars? Shock

fivebyfivefaith · 07/11/2025 22:00

I have ten jars of the XO stuff. My dad panic bought for me

CoastalCalm · 07/11/2025 22:01

Scandalous to some but I actually prefer the Aldi version

RedRosie · 07/11/2025 22:05

It does not taste the same from a tub. Or a squeezy bottle.

Has to be a large jar, with a lid so sticky with marmite you can barely get it off. 😁

I got the last two from the shelf in Waitrose this afternoon. I get nervous when they are on offer as haven’t quite recovered from Walkers discontinuing them totally a while ago, then miraculously reappearing under the Tayto brand. The other place I get them is a large Sainsbury’s.

I have some hot buttered toast , please can I be your friend?

daffodilandtulip · 07/11/2025 22:16

I heard a while ago that there's an actual shortage. It's something to do with yeast and beer making 🤷🏼‍♀️

Didn't realise Marmite Crisps had jumped crisp brand. They seem to magically reappear for short periods of time before then disappearing from the shelves. Most underrated crisp are Marmite Crisps. They are actually amazing.

The ‘now you see them, now you don’t ‘ is so frustrating but I’m grateful for small mercies when they do turn up !
